Actress Sally Field on Thursday offered the perfect response to the whole Samantha Bee-Ivanka Trump “c*nt” debacle, explaining why the comedian was “wrong” to use such a polarizing word to describe the first daughter.

“I like Samantha Bee a lot, but she is flat wrong to call Ivanka a c*nt,” Field wrote on Twitter.

“C*nts are powerful, beautiful, nurturing and honest,” Field noted.

Field’s comment came shortly after Bee apologized for a comment she made Wednesday night during an immigration segment on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Speaking to Ivanka Trump, Bee joked: “Let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless c*nt. He listens to you. Put on something tight and low cut and tell your father to f*cking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes.”

A number of conservatives jumped on the comment, likening it to a racist Twitter post made earlier this week by former ABC sitcom star Roseanne Barr. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday demanded TBS—the network that airs “Full Frontal”—fire Bee.

“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders told the Wrap.

“Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network,” she added.

Shortly thereafter, Bee apologized.

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night,” Bee wrote on Twitter. “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

TBS also issued a statement, shouldering part of the blame for airing Bee’s segment.

“Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night,” a spokesperson for TBS said. “Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.”

North Carolina GOP's Extremist Nominees Excite Democratic Strategists

Michele Morrow

In 2020, Joe Biden narrowly missed capturing North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes, losing the state by a slim 1.4-percentage-point margin. But that was nearly four years ago. Before the Dobbs decision. Before Donald Trump’s 91 felony indictments. And before last week, when the state’s GOP voters nominated a guy who favorably quotes Hitler, has compared LGBTQ+ people to insects and larvae, and thinks a six-week abortion ban isn’t quite extreme enough for governor. Tar Heel State Republicans also nominated another extremist, Michele Morrow, for superintendent of the state’s schools.
