What DACA Supreme Court Ruling Means For Dreamers

The Supreme Court levied a blow to the Trump administration on Monday as it refused to review a federal ruling that keeps the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, partially alive. Though well received, immigration advocates have cautioned that the victory will be short-lived unless Congress takes meaningful action to address the fate of so-called Dreamers.

House Republicans Gut Americans With Disabilities Act

Proponents argue that the bill, The ADA Education and Reform Act, or H.R. 620, is necessary to stem the flow of “drive-by lawsuits” brought by lawyers who only wish to line their pockets. The bill would require those filing suit in federal court against businesses for not complying with the ADA to first give that business 60 days to devise a plan to fix the issue, and another 120 days to implement the changes.

‘Family Values’ Republican Guilty Of Sex Trafficking

Ralph Shortey, former Oklahoma state senator and a county campaign coordinator for President Donald Trump’s campaign last year, will plead guilty to a child sex trafficking offense for soliciting sex from a 17-year-old boy in March. In exchange for his guilty plea, government prosecutors have agreed to drop three counts of child pornography against him.

Immigration Agents Target Kid In Hospital

Maria Rosa Hernandez, brought illegally into the United States at three months of age by her mother, was taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, by her cousin. En route to the hospital, they were stopped at a Customs and Border Patrol checkpoint. Immigration agents then proceeded to follow the two to the hospital and remained there throughout the night.
