NEW POLL: The Republican Party Is More Unpopular Than It Has Been In At Least 20 Years

A new poll from Gallup shows the popularity of the Republican Party is lower now than in the disastrous last days of the Bush administration, lower than when they pursued impeachment of Bill Clinton, and lower than during the government shutdowns of the mid-1990s. With 28 percent approval, Republicans’ favorability is lower than at any time since Gallup began asking the question in 1993.

At 43 percent favorable versus 49 unfavorable, the Democratic Party isn’t faring well in the shutdown either, with its favorable number dropping by 4 points in the last week. But at 28 percent favorable and 62 percent unfavorable, the GOP is testing new levels of unpopularity.…

Ted Cruz Would Be The Most Hated Man In America If America Knew Who He Was

Megyn Kelly opened her interview with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on the first episode of her new Fox News show The Kelly File by asking: “What’s it like to be the most hated man in America?”

The good news for Republicans is that Cruz probably isn’t the “most hated man” in the country, and that’s only because most of the country has no idea who he is.

In a new Associated Press-GfK survey, only half the country knew the junior senator well enough to have an opinion. Of those who did, 16 percent viewed him favorably and double that, 32 percent, had an unfavorable view.…
