Cheney Sisters Row Over Anti-Gay Marriage Remarks

Washington (AFP) – The daughters of former vice president Dick Cheney are quarreling publicly over comments Liz Cheney, running for office in Wyoming, made opposing Mary Cheney’s right to marry her wife.

In an interview on FoxNews Sunday, Liz Cheney said she does “believe in the traditional definition of marriage,” meaning it should be limited to unions between a man and a woman.

She said she loves her sister and her sister’s family “very much,” but “this is just an issue on which we disagree.”

The remarks triggered an angry response from sister-in-law Heather Poe, who shot back on Facebook.

“Liz has been a guest in our home, has spent time and shared holidays with our children, and when Mary and I got married in 2012 — she didn’t hesitate to tell us how happy she was for us. To have her now say she doesn’t support our right to marry is offensive to say the least,” she posted.

Reacting to Liz Cheney’s comments that the issue should be left up to the states, Poe wrote “I can’t help but wonder how Liz would feel if as she moved from state to state, she discovered that her family was protected in one but not the other.

“I always thought freedom meant freedom for EVERYONE,” she added.

Mary Cheney also posted on Facebook, telling her sister “Liz — this isn’t just an issue on which we disagree — you’re just wrong — and on the wrong side of history.”

Liz Cheney, a Republican, is running for a Senate seat in Wyoming against the GOP incumbent in a primary next year.

So, what her sister-in-law means ( it’s perfectly normal ) for two women to be Bride and Bride. Her sister-in-law has the right to be against it and I am sure they won’t get a Divorce to make her happy or will they? It’s done and buried, so she has to accept it, and not think it will gain her more votes.
