#EndorseThis: Colbert Trolls Trump Speech Lauding ‘Women’s Empowerment’

In his opening monologue, Stephen Colbert got to the essence of the problems created by House Intelligence Committee chair Devin Nunes with his bizarre stooging for the White House. “A lot of Democrats are demanding that Nunes step down because…he sucks.”

Colbert quickly moved on to other news, such as the president’s announcement that he won’t throw out the first baseball of the season — as every president since William Howard Taft (except Jimmy Carter) has done. Just one more instance of Trump overthrowing national norms for his own convenience. Watch out, Thanksgiving turkey!

When Colbert trolls Trump, he doesn’t hold back. The Late Show host simply couldn’t ignore the occasion of a presidential speech on “Women’s Empowerment” at the State Department, attended by the First Lady. Hilariously, the show’s technical staff screwed up the audio of those remarks. What Trump really said was banal, of course, but even funnier — in that familiar dark way.
