Endorse This: Donald Trump Vs. The ‘Son Of A B****’ Microphone Man

Donald Trump found the latest person to hate and insult at his rallies, during an event Wednesday night in Pensacola, Florida: The sound man at the venue, at whom Trump lobbed various profanities to express his terrible displeasure at the quality of the microphone.

“By the way, I don’t like this mic. Whoever the hell bought this mic system, don’t pay the son of a bitch that put it in,” Trump said, as the crowd applauded “I’ll tell you, these people. This mic is terrible — stupid mic keeps popping! Do you hear that, George? Don’t pay him — don’t pay him! You know, I believe in paying — but when somebody does a bad job, like this stupid mic, you shouldn’t pay the bastard.”

As the crowd roared, Trump continued: “Terrible, terrible. It’s true. And you gotta be tough with your people, ’cause they’ll pay. They don’t care. They’ll pay. So we’re not gonna pay. I guarantee, I’m not paying for this mic!”

A person certainly does not have to be a Marxist in order to appreciate Karl’s observation that history does indeed repeat itself — “the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.” So in a special double feature of Endorse This, let us also look back at how The Donald is really echoing the right wing’s great giant of a leader: Ronald Reagan himself.

Way back in 1980, Reagan was set to hold a two-way debate with George H.W. Bush in New Hampshire — but in an event funded by Reagan’s own campaign, in a peculiar arrangement due to election regulations. Reagan then attempted to surprise both the moderator and his chief rival, by including more candidates at the event.

He then got into an argument onstage, and when they attempted to cut him off he famously replied back, to raucous applause: “I am paying for this microphone, Mr. Green!”

And this time, it really was farce.

Every state is different. Nebraska is quite different. It is one of only two states that doesn't use the winner-take-all system in presidential elections. Along with Maine, it allocates its Electoral College votes to reflect the results in each of its congressional districts.
