#EndorseThis: Jimmy Kimmel On His Holiness The Trump’s Papal Audience

Donald Trump’s papal visit was mercifully brief but still historic — as Jimmy Kimmel put it, a “holy day, or maybe an a-holey day.”

In their brief conversation, the Holy Father tried to persuade the American president to take up the causes of the poor and the environment. “Unfortunately Trump is only in year 70 of his 100-year deal with the Devil right now,” according to Kimmel, “and it has a no-trade clause…”

That may explain why photos of the Vatican meeting showed a glum Pontiff next to the grinning Trump — a contrast emphasized by rather different pictures of a smiling, happy pope with other world leaders, including Barack Obama and Angela Merkel. And then there’s what happened when Trump tried to hold the pope’s hand.

But the somber mood didn’t stop Fox News Channel from providing its usual spin. “If you were visiting from another planet and turned on Fox News,” snapped Kimmel,”you really wouldn’t know which was the holy one” —  because the Fox anchors spent so much time “slobbering” over Trump, described reverently as “a man of God.” It must be heard to be believed.

Amazingly, she didn’t threaten to expose alleged corruption by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by quoting a Russian think-tank bot-factory known as Strategic Culture Foundation, as she did last November. Rather, the Congressperson from North Georgia made her eleventy-zillionth threat to oust the Speaker of the House from her own party, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), using the Motion to Vacate she filed last month. She told Fox viewers she wanted to return to her House district to “listen to voters” before acting, however.

Trump Campaign Gives Access To Far-Right Media But Shuns Mainstream Press

Trump campaign press pass brandished on air by QAnon podcaster Brenden Dilley

Trump's Hour On CNN Was A Profile In Cowardice

Vanity Fair recently reported that several journalists from mainstream publications, including The Washington Post, NBC News, Axios, and Vanity Fair, were denied press access to Trump’s campaign events, seemingly in retaliation for their previous critical coverage. Meanwhile, Media Matters found that the campaign has granted press credentials to the QAnon-promoting MG Show and Brenden Dilley, a podcaster who has promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory and leads a “meme team” that creates pro-Trump content.
