Governor Romney, We Also Have Fewer Horses And Bayonets

But I think Governor Romney maybe hasn’t spent enough time looking at how our military works.

You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines.

  1. President Obama’s rebuttal to Gov Romney’s comment about the U.S. Navy having fewer ships than in 1916 was more than just beautiful. It highlighted the difference between a man with a clear understanding of modernday warfare and what is needed to win a war and show force in the 21st century, and a man whose knowledge of foreign policy is limited to reading books about Napoleon while savoring French wine in the streets of Paris.
One of the most disturbing moments in the debate, and something the pundits did not seize on, was the comment made by Romney when he asserted that if elected the first thing he would do is accuse China of being currency manipulators. A Presidency that starts by insulting our largest trading partner, a country that holds $2T in reserve…and our largest creditor is doomed from the start. Problems or issues such as the one mentioned by Mr. Romney are first tackled via diplomatic channels, preferably out of the public light.
President Obama demonstrated a solid command of foreign policy, world events, and a vision based on demonstrable deeds that guarantees the safety of the USA and the preservation and advancement of our interest abroad. Whether or not he gets a bounce out of a foreign policy debate remains to be seen, but I believe he left no doubt that he is the best qualified for the job and, if foreign policy was not enough, his closing remarks included a clearly stated high level economic plan that made Gov. Romney’s 5-point plan look like what it is: a rehash of initiatives that are already in place.

    • So VERY well put! Now if we could/can just get the Republicans to remove the socks from their ears and the wool from their brains, Obama might/would/will win by a landslide as did Nixon when he went up against a really great late statesman, the late Senator and one-time presidental candidate, George McGovern, may he rest in peace!!

  2. Domo’ you have to say that Obama’s remarks about subs and aircraft carriers and bayonets is hilarious. Did you see the look on Mitt’s face? He was like faced with and reminded him he was looking at a descendant of Cain.
