You are right Adam all the momentum has shifted in the direction of the President and his party. The best thing for the Rep. to do is ride this one out and hope to gain more seats leading to the next election so that they have a chance in the next presidental election. The real reason that the Koch-Teapublicans want to get rid/ re-do our two US Governments Contracts/Social Security & Medicare is not because they are broke, it is because the GW Bush tax/welfare for the wealthy/corporations has taken so much out of our national budget that congress raided those two contracts to help pay our bills, and it put the USA so far in debt that the KTP don’t know what to do.

If you can do math and read reports, it should be clear to you that reform is needed. If the Republicans simply go along until the money for these programs must come from a bankrupt general fund, then you and the others who don’t see a problem will blame ‘politicians’ rather than the Democrat party. At the rate we are spending ourselves into oblivion there will be absolutely no one who will lend us the money to supplement these entitlement programs. Can you say, ‘riots’?
