Hey OMG, how ya feel’n these days watching your radical party implode? Couldn’t happen to a more deserving group.
There’s a lot of symbolism in that cartoon. Out through the loading dock, like yesterday’s trash.
Tomorrow, she will still be yesterday’s trash.
Is there anyone out there (who is lucid) that can explain that fig tree stuff to me? I thought fig leaves were used to cover-up the evil parts of human anatomy on medieval paintings and sculptures; is there another use? I mean, if the fig leaf is back on the tree, what is covering up all that genitalia?
Your questions should have obvious answers. IF the leaf is back on the tree, then Adam and Eve are once again back in the Garden, under the good graces of God, and unaware of their nakedness. However, I don’t think that symbolism is dealt with in The Book of Revelation. History will not return to its beginnings, it will end.
There is a reference in Revelation 6:13. But it has nothing to do with putting a leaf on a tree. And where is there a reference to Adam and Eve being returned to the Garden? And how would Bachmann know that they had been returned?
Anyway, here is how I interpret it: the woman is certifiably mad. The cartoon got it right.
Bachman would know because she would have been raptured up, a highly dubious assumption on her part.
She better hope that it is not possible to be raptured down.
We all have our own opinions of what will occur after death, and I strongly believe “salvation” has nothing to do with being “born again”, but with what we do for one another while here. As I am in no position to judge the final disposition of her personal case before the Judge, I will say that we will ALL be up there with her, it that is what we want.
I think Michelle can afford a belt for her rapture…
A chastity belt? She is already so fucked up it would do no good.
Good grief, Bob, that’s rapture, not rupture. But then again….
In the bible, the fig tree is a reference for Israel, and the Israelites are the leaves. Through time, the leaves were scattered across the earth, leaving the tree bare and non-Jews in control of Israel, however the bible says that the Israelites will one day return to Israel. Fundamentalist christians believe that the Jews returning to their homeland of Israel is the final sign of the end of times.
Bachmann saying the leaf is back on the tree, is a reference to Israel again being occupied by the Jews, meaning this is the end of times.
Of course as an atheist I don’t believe any of this crap!!
Thank you. Now I understand. I also understand that Ms. Bachmann’s fig tree is short a few leaves.
More than a few.
In one of the parables of Jesus, he is trying to explain that (as the human being Jesus believed) the end times were coming in his day, saying to his disciples that when we see the fig bearing leaves, we know the season for bearing fruit is coming soon. A modern metaphor would be that “the fat lady is warming up.”
If only!!! If only she were exiting Congress heading to Happy Acres. home of the less than stable, never to be heard from again! I am afraid that we are fooling ourselves if we think she will go quietly into the night. I must say, I am almost happy to see she is the newsmaker of the day rather than Ted Cruz or Louie Gohmert or Ted Yoho, or Steve King or etc. since she will soon lose her power of the vote. The ‘clown car’ which produced the GOP candidates in the 2012 primaries seems to have a limitless supply of clowns.
She is only leaving Congress because of the ethics violations investigation. She’ll be back.
I heard she is leaving because she knew she had no chance of getting reelected.
She barely won the last time in a crazy, teanut district. But she probably would have gone ahead again if it weren’t for the ethics investigation. By not running again, she shuts down the investigation.
Shoot I didn’t know it shuts down the investigation.
Why would they continue? She’s out. She’ll be gone before they even set out the crumpets and schnapps for the “investigators.” If the accused leaves before the meetings start, the meetings stop. Check out Spiro Agnew.
Except for that tight circle of loonies, to whom her opinion seems to mean something, most people who read articles about her, do so, more for the comedic value, than anything else.
No wonder a lot of children are afraid of clowns. . . .
Soon your mandated insurance bill will be coming either in premiums or it could cost your job or work hour reduction. Of course you may already be a deadbeat, but if you are trying to make a living and contribute you will be stepped on by Obamacare, so have a good laugh now.
You’re funny… in the sad way that a simple minded person whose ice cream cone just landed on their chest is funny.
Lots of us are “making a living and contributing” but are excited about Obamacare because WORKING HARD IS NO GUARANTEE these days.
And lots of us are “making a living and contributing” but cannot find an insurance company that will sell a policy at a reasonable rate. With Obamacare these people at least have a better than even chance of being able to get SOMETHING. And when Americans begin to have some compassion for people who STILL cannot get health insurance, we will be able to make it better.
Start a charity, dont rely on Obumocare to stick his fist into everybody’s pockets and rob them for your charity and pay your insurance.
Of course you are a deadbeat and expect everyone to pay your bills.
I pray that YOU never get into a situation where you need help. Apparently you consider your money more valuable than other people living or dying. Did you ever read John Donne’s essay on being connected to everyone?
I was not only referring to VOLUNTARY deadbeats as you put it, but to people smacked down by bad luck, including BABIES whose parents, despite trying and working very hard, cannot get their children life saving medical care. Or if they can get it ONCE in a crisis, they cannot follow up, and they may end up homeless from trying to pay the medical bills.
The problem is that there are not enough people willing and ABLE to give charities the money they need to help even a small fraction of the people who need help, especially since the Mad Gipper’s policies have been in effect for three decades. Even the recovery from the recession, fought by Republicans who apparently want to KEEP the recession going, has given most of the increased income to the already wealthy, and then the sequester and the shutdown are hurting more people than ever.
I wish I had a time machine to send you back to the 1870’s and let you survive in that era for a month. If you had children back then, THEY would have had to work 12 hour days 6 days a week WITH YOU in order to avoid starvation. If the employer’s equipment was defective and injured you (or your 8 year old child, for example) due to his negligence in not getting repaired, the law then held ONLY THE WORKER responsible for his own safety. You would have been fired and unable to work. There was no Workmen’s Comp to assist you if the machine cut off your arm or leg. There was no unemployment insurance or disability insurance. There was only private charity, which could barely support one out of a hundred such deserving cases, because those who were getting rich off of maimed workers did not give to those charities in proportion to what they made (and when they DID give to charity, it was usually not in areas that saved lives, but in areas that brought culture to the masses, such as libraries and music venues — Carnegie Hall was built to offset the bad publicity suffered when Dale Carnegie let his plant manager hire Pinkerton guards to KILL workers striking for more pay and saner, safer hours — which are good but do not save people from starvation). Basically, then and now, most of the donors to those charities are those who are a little LESS poor than the ones they are trying to help.
Get back to me and tell me your reaction to Donne’s essay, and your research into 19th century labor conditions, and tell me if your morality still allows you to be so callous. I bet you watch “A Christmas Carol” every year and yell at the screen for Scrooge NOT to become generous.
Obamacare(fake insurance) will break the system. There will be a major worldwide depression. Nobody will have anything including food. Scrooge gave willingly he did not have somebody rob him reach into his pocket and rip out the money any time Obama wants to take from working people and give it to deadbeats. In order for our system to work it is most be voluntary not have Dictator Obama strip everybody naked like the Odumboturd that he is.
“The sky is falling, the sky is falling.” So said Chicken “Sh*t” Little, a.k.a. alboy5.
Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately nothing is free, resources are limited but our population is not. If you break the system by enforcing dictatorship Obamacare(worthless insurance) than nobody will have any resources and we will all die from starvation.
Bob Dylan described you, alboy5, when he sang
He’s on the caboose of the train
But it ain’t him to blame
He’s only a pawn in their game.
Hope your eyes open soon. Until then, I just say good luck!
Unfortunately, nothing you say is probably true either, so what is your point?
Charities are already creaking beneath the burden of people seeking assistance, not just because fewer people are able to generously give but because more of what used to be middle America is arriving at charity doors asking for help.
There are none so blind as those who will not see… I seem to recall that from a popular religion’s book of poetry and prose.
If I were a deadbeat and expected other people to pay my bills I’d have a ton more money left over at the end of the month…
My truth is that I am a self-employed person who pays more taxes into the system than I access as a member of it.
What is another truth is that you are a failed psychic.
Just remember: this person was an accepted candidate with a measure of support for the Republican nomination for president of the United States. What further evidence need there be that the Republican Party as it now is run is an organization of fascists, lunatics, radicals and assorted fringenuts?
Oh, Jeff, from your pen to God’s ear.
@ Bonnie Martin in the Facebook section.
True, but don’t come onto an American liberal/progressive website with that. Do it on a Republican site if you follow American politics. These people here are our political brethren and they believe in the same things that we do, and are fighting for the same things that we’ve been. You’re preaching to the choir.
I hope you weren’t an overly confident Adrian Dix supporter who stayed home on election day and allowed ‘Crusty’ Clark another 4 years.
dtg. Haven’t you noticed this excellent choir has some flat and tuneless voices to the right? They don’t know about life outside their little circles.
Oh I’ve noticed them Bob. The incoherent, grammatically challenged, founding fathers obsessed, all caps brigade. They’re hard to miss. Then again, we’re talking Michelle Bachmann supporters here. That woman is out there let me tell you. She is amazing. I remember last year when Obama’s re-election team tried to portray Mitt Romney as ‘weird’. I imagine her opponents in Congressional races just tried to portray Michelle Bachmann as ‘Michelle Bachmann’.
Bachmann is one fig that stayed on the tree too long.
