President Obama needs to understand that Mitt Romney is a salesman. Like Donald Trump and his ilk, Romney is skilled at “the art of the deal”. At the closing of a sale, these guys are at their best.They will say anything that will help them at the point of sale. If they have to say something that they know they won’t be able to deliver on, they will say it anyway and worry about explanations later.
As in the first debate, this will be Romneys approach to the next two debates.Pres. Obama is going to have to treat him as he would any snake oil salesman. He’s going to have to show some righteous indignation when Romney prevaricates; react as if Romney were trying to sell Granny Obama some Florida swampland.
It’s time to take the gloves off, Mr. President. I know you were dumbfounded by what you heard coming out of Romney’s mouth at the first debate, but remember he’s a salesman. Treat everything he says as a lie because it probably is. We promise we won’t think any less of you if you seem angry or offended by his lies and flip-flopping. Remember you are the only one between him and us. Bare your teeth like a momma bear defending her cubs. Grimace like Clint Eastwood preparing to dispatch a villain. We always liked Clint in that role.
