I am angry with Obama why he could not tell Romney to stop lying to the American people. .. Remind Romney of all his claims during the Republican primaries. We all know that Romney is a liar and a fraud but Obama needed to say it to his face. One day Romney will repeal Dodd-Frank, another time Romney would praise the good things in Dodd-frank. Romney will tell Tea party that he will repeal Obamney care before the cock crows thrice, romney would say that there are lots of good things in Obamacare. Romney will tell Republican audience that Hispanic illegals must self-deport but will on TV debate say "we cannot round up people on the street", but Romney is a big supporter of Arizona hostility against Hispanics. Romney proposes voucher system but says it will kick in after our generation. Why can't Obama tell Romney to say how to handle present and not things of 30th century. Why can't Obama tell Romney in his face that he had opportunities to create jobs with Bain but he instead fired people and made money firing people; he shipped jobs overseas; sent out his money to offshore when America needed cashflow; he is not coming clear about his career at Bain Capital; he is yet to prove his trustworthiness and fiscal patriotism with his tax returns; ask Romney whether he also supports Planned Parenthood today since he seemed to talk liberalism on debate floor? Ask Romney that he today sounds like anti-Tea party and anti-Arizona governor. How about asking Romney if he really doesn't want to be president of the 47% welfare victims who will vote Obama? With these, Obama would have won the election that wednesday night. I travelled to Europe and watched the debate in a Bar and the Europeans said Obama left his supporters biting their fingers ... Is this Obama or someone else? Some said Obama missed an opportunity to call out Romney-the-liar; others said Obama allowed the liar lie his way through the debate. Some European poked fun at Obama's performance saying "a Havard lawyer could not argue his case against a fake businessman." Obama must step up to revealing the rhetoric fakeness of Romney.

One peer-reviewed study from Austria showed harm from one GMO crop. The health ministry of Austria dismissed the result as chance. Proponents of GMO labeling tout the study for lack of others.

Harm from one GMO crop would prove nothing about any other GMO crop. Only the doctrine of "vitalism" would hold a natural mutation harmless and an intentional one harmful when science says the opposite.

With no proven harm from "GMO" and no proven benefit from "organic", why label at all? "GMO", "organic" or "Kosher" labels indicate the belief structure of the producer.

Kosher producers would not expect a "not kosher!" label but "organic" producers do expect a "not organic!" label. Only organic producers have any reason to avoid GMO sources.

Rather than argue fact, organic producers spread allegations and hope for enough fear to require GMO labeling. Popular does not mean true. Most Americans dismiss climate change, a 4+ Billion year old Earth, a 13+ Billion year old universe and evolution while believing biblical creation and a talking snake.

Food processors with hundreds of ingredients and dozens of sources for each might label everything GMO, sue for a content threshold below which labeling is not required (as is for the organic label) and then lie about percentages or merely lie from the start.

Truthful GMO labeling (at a cost passed on to the consumer) would cover practically every available food product with only niche organics excluded.

Consumers would not avoid the GMO products any more than they avoid non-organic products today.

DON....
This article is about Organic Subsidiaries Out Parent Conglomerates and the need for transparency in what is actually being put into our food. A citizens initiative has begun to require food conglomerates to label products containing genetically manipulated organisms.

Not your off topic bizarre distraction that has absolutely nothing to do with the article.
I don't see any mention by Hightower about anything REMOTELY related to the article...

You state:
"With respect to a National Conference; the Attendees, along with their Leadership, would look at the possibility of creating a New Economy, based, maybe, on a Pledge of if Fidelity, Trust, and Honor in all Social, Economic, and Political Relationships. "

WHAT THE HECK DOES ANY OF THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?

Quoting Hightower article:

"What’s the name of this popular populist candidate who’s spooking CEOs of national corporations right out of their Guccis? Mr. Right-To-Know.....He’s on the November ballot as Proposition 37, a citizens initiative to require food conglomerates to label products containing genetically manipulated organisms. These GMOs, developed in the engineering labs of such biotech giants as Monsanto and DuPont, contain unnaturally altered DNA and are quietly slipped into hundreds of processed foods with no word to consumers about the adulteration. Also, adequate scientific studies have not been conducted on the long-term impacts these manufactured organisms could have on human health, the environment and small farmers.....So, a broad coalition of “people’s interests” came up with Prop 37 — not to ban GMOs, but simply to say that We The People have a right to know if food and biotech profiteers have added these highly questionable organisms to the products we put on our dinner tables. The people’s proposal is a straightforward, easy way to empower every consumer in the marketplace to make their own choice. And, wow, the corporate powers really hate that."

Don--Quit distracting us with your nonsense, OK?

Soon, it will necessary to call together the best Minds in the Country. who believe in the Common Good. Government is suppose to be looking out for the American People; yet, they aren't willing to risk losing their Brides from Special Interests who feed their re-election campaigns.

With respect to a National Conference; the Attendees, along with their Leadership, would look at the possibility of creating a New Economy, based, maybe, on a Pledge of if Fidelity, Trust, and Honor in all Social, Economic, and Political Relationships. The Pledge could be posted everywhere! Violate the Pledge, and you are gone! Meaning, you are free to return to the old Economy dominated by Extractors, Rent Seekers, and Thieves. No second changes. If you really have no interest in Fidelity to a New America - - based on the Values that once made this Country Great; don't sign The Pledge!

Regional Economies could be created based on the common economic interests of the People in the Regions. Yes, the effort would be a challenge; similar to what the Greatest Generation made during the Great Depression; and following WWII. One has to Crawl before Walking; and Walk before Running; and, it would be a challenge of monumental proportions.

Regionally, everything would be produced and manufactured in One of the newly formed Regional Economies. Lot's of empty manufacturing, warehouse, and store front space.

Lot's of empty Store Fronts; lot's of People without jobs; or, unhappy with the ones they have. Certain Economic Activities could be created, as, Non-Profits. At least services would be provided, and jobs created in the all Regions. Think Banks and Credit Card to start.

Where might the Start-Up Money come from? We try to bring in Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, and others - - including the Deep Pocket Chinese. If the Legacies of Gates and Buffet are important to them; they would have the opportunity to leave a Legacy behind, as Sterling as the Founding Fathers. Libertarian Types, like Ron Paul and Son; Gary Johnson, and others - - like, Tom Coburn; could all be invited, and consulted. So much more needs to be discussed; but time and space limit that luxury. THIS CAN BE DONE! The Rich want an Economic Re-Set - - let's give them one! It would build Trust and Cooperation among the People in the Regions; and rekindle Patriotism. It would also be a way to devolve Power and Money away from Washington; and weaken the Strangle Hold, the Dark Money Cartels have on Washington. Isn't this just the kind of innovation and creativity, that the GOP is seeking? Folks, I bet there are many, many, unemployed College Grads that would be excited to be involved in a Major New Initiative, like this one. Many, many people would be excited to establish a New America, based on God's Moral Absolutes; and a chance to develop and hone, a New Set of Values based on something other than the acquisition of STUFF! and it's accompanying Credit Card Debt; which, has ruined Families, and this Country; for that matter. What better way to influence and control our Food Supply; and, with a degree of Civility in the way people deal with each other, in All aspects of Societal Interaction.

Let the Crony Capitalists have the system they are exploiting; forcing Millions of Middle Class People to either swim up-stream - - or pack - - for the Poor House. The Regions who believe in America First; might sign a Pledge not to do any business with the Predator Capitalists, unless absolutely necessary. Welcome to a New America! Restore the Eagle to it's once, Lofty Perch. What say, any any, or all of you?

THis article is about Organic Subsidiaries Out Parent Conglomerates and the need for transparency in what is actually being put into our food. It is also about the attempted of multin-national food conglomerates to try and have truth in labeling blocked.

I don't see any mention by Hightower of the Supreme Coutrt? Or Obama staying at the Jefferson Hotel, or Ronald Reagan's record, or having our guns.... as having anything to do with the topic.

Those who post off topic are inteionally distracting us, and I wish you would stop it.

Quoting Hightower:

"The giants fear that consumers (damn them!) will reject products containing risky GMOs, so they want to keep such contents a secret. Since the California market is huge, passage of a labeling law there would effectively become a national provision. Thus, the corporations are mounting their massive PR campaign....Now, the public is learning that Kashi organics, for example, is a subsidiary of Kellogg’s, which is spending a ton to defeat Prop 37. Other megabuck donors to the anti-consumer campaign include General Mills (owner of Muir Glen and Cascadian Farm organic brands), Dean Foods (owner of Horizon organic milk and Silk organic soy milk) and such giant deceivers as Campbell Soup, Bimbo Bakeries, Coca-Cola, Del Monte, Nestle, PepsiCo and J.M. Smucker. The fun part is that the organic subsidiaries of these conglomerates support the Right-To-Know labeling law, with such organic firms as chips-maker Food Should Taste Good labeling its packages as “non-GMO” even though its owner, General Mills, has pumped a million bucks into the anti-labeling campaign. Many of the subsidiaries are aghast that their corporate parents are financing legalized consumer deception."

I agree with Hightower with all he states in te article.

AGain....can you folks stay on topic? Or you simply our for good old fashioned Obama bashing that has nothing to do with this article?

As for Reagan being such a great President, (and there are a few things that he did that actually did improve things in America, such as making payments to small contractors of the federal government easier and less burdensome), there are a few small details that the conservatives like to ignore.

Such as the fact that President Reagan left office after he TRIPLED THE NATIONAL DEBT.

As for 9/11/2001 causing the job losses during George the Second's term, the massive debt he added was caused by cutting taxes on the rich, to the tune of THREE AND A HALF TRILLION DOLLARS, and starting TWO wars at a cost of over a TRILLION DOLLARS.

Without any means of paying for them. This is the main cause of the financial problems facing the United States today, as well as the rest of the world.

WHEN DICK CHENEY MADE THE COMMENT THAT "RONALD REAGAN TAUGHT US THAT DEFICITS DON'T MATTER", what he meant was that they don't matter, as long as they are stacked on by Republicans. As soon as there is a Democrat in the White House, the Republicans start to become all upset about the national debt, and the yearly deficits.

YOU CAN BET THAT IF, GOD FORBID, THE BUSH/CHENEY CLONES WIN THIS ELECTION, THE REPUBLICANS WILL ONCE AGAIN BECOME AMNESIAC ABOUT DEFICITS.

I EXPECT A LOT OF FLACK FROM THE RIGHT WINGERS ABOUT THESE COMMENTS.

BRING IN ON!!!

NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WISH THIS WAS ALL PRESIDENT OBAMA's FAULT, THE FACTS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR US TO SUFFER WITH.

ALL CAUSED BY BUSH THE SECOND AND HIS FAILED ECONOMIC AND FISCAL POLICIES.
AND WITH STRUCTURAL DEFICIT SHORTFALLS BUILT IN FOR YEARS TO COME, REGARDLESS WHO IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE.
