Smart. Sharp. Funny. Fearless.

Maria, who wouldn’t give her last name because she said she fears the police, shouts “no mas”, at a memorial on Anna Drive in Anaheim, Calif. for Manuel Angel Diaz, 25, of Santa Ana, Monday, July 23, 2012. Diaz was shot and killed by Anaheim police on Saturday. “It affects us a a community”, she said. “It’s not right what they did to us, instead of protecting us they assault us.” Another protest is planned for Tuesday. A Bozo calling someone else names? Gee, no surprise there!

      • montanabill

I must have missed something in OMG’s post. What names did he call?

        • Black_Diaspora2

You missed what you wanted to miss, and that’s no surprise. We all know what was referred, and to whom it was referred.

          • montanabill

It was a cartoon and you ducked the issue. What names?

          • Black_Diaspora2

            “Obozo Must Go”

I don’t “duck” issues, only punches.

Not names! Name. President Obama is not President “Obozo” except to those who respect neither the office nor the man.

Not only was the cartoon in poor taste, it was inaccurate, taken out of context to make a crass political point, using as much straw as is necessary to construct a straw man to dismantle.

            Oh yeah? Well…

  • JOE

Its about time the hispanics stood up for their rights, the cops have gotten away with murder for a long time, the power of the uniform and the right to have gun lets them abuse the people, burn the city if that what it takes

    • montanabill

Their rights to be gang members?

  • montanabill

I didn’t write ‘Obozo Must Go’. That is someone’s handle, not mine. The cartoon is a satire, although I suspect you don’t have any similar problem with Trudeau, Oliphant or Sargent.

    • Black_Diaspora2

Then you should have minded your own business. And further: Don’t speak for me. There’s good satire, and bad satire. This was “bad satire,” as it was based on a lie.

      • montanabill

You responded to me. I didn’t speak for you. Like the ‘satire’ of the mentioned political cartoonists, they base most of their stuff on lies that have only the tiniest grain of truth.

        • Black_Diaspora2

I responded to you responding to what should have been obvious, and said so.

If as you say, these satirists “base most of their stuff on lies that have only the tiniest grain of truth,” then their attempt at satire has the “tiniest grain” of satirical efficacy and impact.

Satire: “A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.”

On all three accounts, the “cartoon” failed, and doesn’t qualify to be called satire, humor, or jest.

Perspective always depends on who’s ox is getting gored.

          • Black_Diaspora2

Perspective creates perception creates experience. And no matter how you “gore” the “ox,” bad satire is still bad satire.
