Senate Approves Stopgap Budget Bill

Washington (AFP) – A divided Senate passed a stopgap budget measure Friday, sending the legislation to the House as lawmakers struggle to avoid a government shutdown.

Senators voted along party lines on a bill that would fund government operations into the new year, but that also strips out a provision that would have defunded President Barack Obama’s health care law.
