To be blunt about it, they double down on the hate and crazy at every opportunity. At this point, they don’t care if their party survives, whether the economy is damaged, our defenses degraded, the nation wounded, and its people suffer as long as they oppose and obstruct Obama at every chance. They’re consumed by hate to the exclusion of literally everything else. And that includes their own long term survival.

Iif the Republicans were to actually try to pass a jobs program rather than fixating on women’s lady parts, we might have a better recovery. But they know that an improved employment picture would reflect favorably on Obama, and therefore cannot act in the interests of the American people.

The GOP ran a crappy candidate, a crappy campaign, a crappy message, and were so self deluded that they had no idea what the hell was actually going on in the real world (unskewed polls, anyone?). They still are, and think that if they can just repackage the same old shit, people will somehow fail to notice that it’s the same old shit and will come flocking to them. Good flocking luck with that.
