Some Thoughts On A Half-Baked Idea

October 2nd, 2011 9:56 pm Leonard Pitts Jr.

I have no beef with the student Republicans.

Oh, I disagree with them about affirmative action, and probably a dozen other things as well. But I am not troubled — amused, but not troubled — by the way they’ve expressed their view. Unfortunately, others have been less sanguine.

When I saw this story on the news, my first thought was that the prices on the baked goods represented the differences in wages between all the groups. The higher prices were for the people who were paid the most!! White men the most and on down to women who get a lesser percentage no matter what the job. I think it was a poor example to use for what they were trying to get across.

I’m a potawatomi Indian and white. No school or business should base anything on affirmative action. Everything should be based on grades or qualifications. The more we discriminate against any group the more we stay divided. Leonard your example of gun fire, physical assault and blah, blah, just keeps it all going. Everyone knows things weren’t fair at one time, but to use reverse discrimination is just as wrong. Leonard your a hack who loves the turmoil.

Remember one thing…when slavery ended it was the majority of the white people who fought for the black slaves freedom! Thousands died for the cause. Keep demonizing Leonard! You are the problem.

As an Indian, my people have a long history of suffering. It’s people like Leonard Pitts who won’t let it end. The white students could have used a different way of getting their point across, however the real racists are the people that use hate instead of debate!
