Networks Blame Both Parties For Relief Fiasco — And That’s Wrong

Reprinted with permission from MediaMatters

President Trump signed four executive orders following a congressional gridlock over negotiations about the second COVID-19 relief bill, which Republicans refused to enter into until the eleventh hour. Sunday political broacasts, however, continued with their false equivalency that both parties are to blame and forced the president's hand.

The economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic have been devastating for millions of Americas. The Census Bureau estimated that sometime before July 21, nearly 30 million Americans did not have enough to eat. Millions are still unemployed, and the Congressional Budget Office expects the unemployment rate to remain "elevated" through 2021. Forty million people are reportedly at risk of being kicked out of their homes due to the pandemic, especially as eviction moratoriums across the country come to an end. The ending of enhanced unemployment benefits looks set to become an economic catastrophe.

#EndorseThis: CNN Gets Rudy Giuliani To Admit Likely Collusion With Russia

#EndorseThis: CNN Gets Rudy Giuliani To Admit Likely Collusion With Russia

CNN suffered a PR crisis a few months ago after making errors on the air. But slowly but surely, a few hard-nosed and skillful journalists are helping the network regain its street cred among political insiders.

In this incredibly-overlooked clip from Memorial Day weekend, CNN’s Dana Bash presses Trump legal henchman Rudy Giuliani about the solidity of his no-collusion claims. In a stunning moment of clarity, the former New York mayor admits he doesn’t know whether members of the 2016 Donald Trump campaign colluded with Russia or not.

Bash proceeds to call Guiliani to the carpet over the obvious politics being played by Trump and his team over “Spygate.” Hearing Rudy rant, riff, and retreat while trying to squirm out of answering is worth the price of admission.

Play for proof.

WATCH: Scott Baio Defends Vulgar Tweet About Hillary Clinton

CNN’s Dana Bash confronted Donald Trump supporter and Republican National Convention speaker, Scott Baio, over his tweeting of a meme that showed Hillary Clinton standing in front of a sign that said “COUNT,” with her body covering the “O.”

When asked about the controversial tweet, the actor said that “It’s just a picture somebody sent and we sent it out. You make of it what you want.”

Scott Biao is not a master of subtlety.

Lindsey Graham Plays The ‘Date, Marry, Make Disappear’ Game

Lindsey Graham Plays The ‘Date, Marry, Make Disappear’ Game

This has got to be one of the most unusual interview questions ever for a presidential candidate.

Tuesday night at CNN’s “Politics on Tap” event in Boulder, Colorado, special guest bartender Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was asked old bar game question: “Date, Marry, or Make Disappear” — with the choices of Sarah Palin, Carly Fiorina, and Hillary Clinton — though as CNN’s Dana Bash admitted, she did clean up the word “date” from originally being something that “rhymes with truck.”

“We can’t go beyond dating,” Graham said. “That’s as far as I’m going, dating.”

(Note: In this little game, “make disappear” is also supposed to be “kill.”)

Graham’s responses:

  • Dating: “Sarah Palin — we’ll go hunting on our first date.”
  • Marry: “Carly, ’cause she’s rich — she could keep me in the life I’ve become accustomed to — and I’m a very practical guy.”
  • So, “make disappear” for Hillary Clinton? “Is she rich? She said she was ‘flat broke.'”

Graham will be at tonight’s undercard debate hosted by CNBC, for the lower-tier candidates. Let’s see what questions he’ll get asked there.
