#EndorseThis: Samantha Bee Smacks Down Peter Schweizer, Hard

Count on Samantha Bee to summarize the supposed scandal surrounding Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s business in Ukraine: “It’s bullshit!” But beyond that pithy epithet, Bee wants you to understand from where the bullshit emanates — because this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last.

The original source of the Biden smear is a right-wing writer named Peter Schweizer, familiar from Clinton Cash, his 2016 project with Steve Bannon that succeeded in defaming the Clinton Foundation, the former president and the first female Democratic presidential nominee.

As Bee puts it, Schweizer “is very good at injecting his nasty little gas bubbles into America’s political bloodstream.”

She reviews Schweizer’s gamy history, his ties with Bannon and his ludicrous book “exposing” Disney, replete with paranoid tales of gay Disneyworld employees disguised as Donald Duck. And she lucidly explains how Schweizer and Bannon exploit mainstream outlets such as the New York Times and CNN to promote fake “investigations” of liberal politicians. Those investigations always feature gaping holes of fact and logic.

“We don’t have direct evidence” of Clinton’s supposed wrongdoing, Schweizer admits in a 2016 ABC clip. “Then why in the holy fuck are we talking about it?” demands Samantha Bee.

Why indeed? Only Sam could make this journalistic malpractice funny — and she does.

#EndorseThis: Agent Mulder Tells Samantha Bee’s Detectives What’s Actually Wrong With FEMA

FEMA’s two biggest foul-ups of modern times have happened with Republicans in the White House. The human toll of storms like Katrina and Maria has been enormous, but the screwball failures of FEMA under Bush and Trump have made each respective disaster worse.

Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal has been in Puerto Rico this week, learning first-hand how citizens of the U.S. territory are recovering from Hurricane Maria. When her team’s investigation reaches a roadblock, they call on none other than Agent Mulder of The X-Files to probe the conspiracy behind FEMA’s con game.

Mulder (actor David Duchovny) spins a big old whoppin’ yarn – literally – about our GOP-led government’s inability to provide simple financial relief or fresh water to the storm victims. As you might have guessed already, alien life forms are at the heart of his tangled web of suspicion.

But there’s an all-too-real truth behind Mulder’s tall tale. Click and watch at the 2:41 mark as our bumbling (and chintzy) emergency management team is shown to have 51 areas of incompetence.

#EndorseThis: Trump Boasts About ‘Amazing Job’ In Puerto Rico

If there is any single incident that has conclusively proved Trump’s unfitness to be president, it is his failure to provide timely aid and comfort to the millions of American citizens suffering in devastated Puerto Rico. That is the most fundamental responsibility of his office.

Instead, as usual, Trump is preening and boasting rather than performing his duties — and Samantha Bee, as usual, has got his number. If we couldn’t laugh at this useless clown, we’d always be weeping. All of us must help our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico, because they certainly can’t count on him.

Samantha Bee, Will Ferrell, Allison Janney Kill In Press Dinner Parody [VIDEO]

When Samantha Bee threatened to stage an alternative to the White House Correspondents Dinner, who knew that she would pull off her celebration of the First Amendment with such style? At Constitutional Hall last night, the Full Frontal host put on a remarkable live show for 2500 guests — and sitting at the front table, appropriately enough, were the directors and staff of the Committee to Protect Journalists, the sterling organization that received a $200,000 donation from the dinner’s proceeds.

The Full Frontal Not The White House Correspondents Dinner is indeed a comedic feast: The roaring cold open brings back The West Wing’s beloved C.J. Cregg (Allison Janney), who takes over the White House press podium to blast the motley online corps of misogynists, racists, wackos, and Kremlin stooges that now deface American media.

There’s an amusing interview with CNN anchor Jake Tapper, an even more amusing roast of CNN boss Jeff Zucker — and a surprise guest appearance by “George W. Bush,” with Will Ferrell reprising the impression that was so good he took it to Broadway.

Ferrell killed with the first line: “How do you like me now?” Looking back, the 43rd president complains about his press coverage, musing, “I just wish somebody had told me all you had to say was fake news, over and over again.”

Perhaps the show’s highlight is Bee’s own segment, a counter-historical fantasy styled after Man In The High Castle that imagines what might have happened if last year’s election had gone the other way. It concludes with the speech Bee imagines delivering at the real correspondents dinner, 100 days into the Clinton presidency (when Hillary is already facing her impeachment trial).
