  1. Here we go again: let’s assign equal blame to the extortionists who are the minority and their intended victims, the majority who refuse to let the crooks essentially destroy our system of government even more than they have already been allowed to.

I’d expect this in most newspapers, even the supposedly “liberal” ones, but here?

  2. And now…. The REAL Cartoon Of The Day!

    Obozo the addict….

    Have a nice day!

Sen. Barack Obama’s Floor Speech, March 20, 2006 — “The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

    • So I guess that means that we should stop paying for the things we have already bought, right? I suggest that you stop paying your credit card and mortgage and see what happens to your already low credit rating.
Not only will you lose your house but your credit will be trashed.
You advocate for doing that with the national debt: stop paying it and see what happens. Well, we know what will happen: the economy will tank, interest rates will rise, tax receipts will fall and the national debt will grow along with the payments which will be higher because our credit will be lower.
Try the same thing with your personal finances and tell me how it worked out for you.
Government spending and borrowing is lower than it has been in 4 years. We are just now getting away from the mess the Bush administration created and now the Republicans want to go back to the very policies that caused the great financial crisis in 2009.
Obozo, you logic, or lack of it, amazes me.

      • It’s dirtnappy under a different posting name. What’s up dirtnappy?

You and all the others that think like you do are complete morons. Really dude, you’re an idiot. You can’t even make a good analogy that is anywhere near true, and in fact it even contradicts your own irrational point. Let me fix it for you, you dummy:

If I am having trouble paying my mortgage or credit cards, the LAST thing I need to be doing is RAISING my debt ceiling so I can go into more debt. No bank in their right mind would extend me more credit. Neither should Congress extend credit for our overbloated Federal Leviathan to consume.

Next, they don’t raise the debt ceiling to accomadate current spending. They raise it for NEW spending just the same way getting an increase in the limit of your credit card enables you to spen MORE. You are a fool, dude. An unmitigated fool.

My logic amazes you because you actually have no capacity to deploy logic yourself. You’re a useful idiot that repeats the lies of Obozo because he’s your messiah.

Even your boy, Baroke WhoIsInsane Obozo disagrees with you and himself.

        Have a nice day, dirtnappy!

  3. This is NOT a duel, people! These are neo-confederates trying to punish the Yanks for the civil war. They intend to win by terrorism what they could not win legally by bringing down the entire country. Their pride is deeply hurt in that mysterious magical thinking realm we call Republican. The shutdown and the debt ceiling are not issues to them but an emotional payback for hurting their white good ole boy pride with a Black President. Those uppity Yanks! It is not about anything real.

    • One blog writer came up with a satirical piece about the recent playoff series in which the LA Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves, and his fictional Braves owner is petitioning Congress to nullify the results of the games and give them the championship. That is what the Republicans are doing: America VOTED for the candidate who proposed the ACA, got it passed with what was then a majority of both houses (and after removing almost everything the Republicans said they objected to, they STILL voted against it; it would have passed if they has left that stuff IN the bill), got even this EXTREME RIGHT WING ACTIVIST court to approve it (except for one part), and America then voted AGAIN for the President and AGAINST the candidate who wanted to get rid of the ACA.

Yet the extreme minority still claims, CONTRARY TO THE FACTS, that the “American people” hate Obamacare and want to do away with it and go back to the “no-care” system for another fifty years. And they are willing to LIE, CHEAT and EXTORT, even WRECK THE REST OF THE ECONOMY, to get their way.

It is NOT an “addiction to spending” on the part of government, it is the NEEDS of the 99 percent increasing after 30 years of being stolen from (legally, through deregulation and anti-labor laws, but immorally) by the 1 percent OF the 1 percent, for RELIEF from that take-from-everyone-else-and-give-to-the-richest economy. If workers had LIVING WAGES, and jobs were SECURE from random attacks aimed at getting 2 percentage points more profit, and working class people did not have to pay THE RICH PEOPLE’S SHARE of necessary taxes as well as their own, there would be FAR LESS NEED for relief.

The top 1% of the top 1% have brainwashed people like OMG, who I am sure means well, to think that the law of the jungle is the best way to organize an economy. Maybe for the lion, but not for the gazelle.

      • I agree totally with everything you said, Allan. My original reply to the cartoon is that it is not the Republicans vs. Democrats on a field of honor and winner take all as in a duel. The only way that cartoon even begins to work is if the Democrat dualist wounds the Republican and therefore the dual is over but the Republican turns around and shoots dead the Democrat and then claims the Democrat made him cheat. That works, but not this cartoon.

    • @Pattie..Great insight into the minds of these narcissistic and delirious people; now you’re probably going to have to take a long vacation to rest your brain after coming up with such a precise diagnosis!!

  4. Unfortunately, the populace is blaming both the Democrats and the Republicans for the shutdown and slow economy. Yes, we all know that the economy and the deficits stem from having had an inept Republican president (Cheney’s puppet) for 8 years and the unsustainable tax reductions put in by that great Socialist President Reagan (who made it possible for everyone to receive free health care by going to the Emergency Room). The most unfortunate result in 2014 shall be those of us with enough intelligence to vote for curing the country’s woes shall tend to sit out the election while those Neanderthals who believe that Rand Paul &/or Paul Ryan are the answer to our prayers shall all flock to the polls. I see no way for America to regain control of the house and I fear that the anti-American “True Patriots” have a good possibility of taking control of the Senate. If this happens we shall see a Congress that makes the current do-nothing Congress look like a hot bed of progressive action.
