The Far Right Issues Its ‘War On Christmas’ Enemies List

The pretend ‘War on Christmas‘ is even more contentious than usual this year.

As Rush Limbaugh was busy lecturing the Pope on the true meaning of Christianity, the National Republican Congressional Committee decided to remove a shirt that mocked liberals for saying “Happy Holidays,” after being reminded — possibly by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) — that not everyone in America is Christian. And Sarah Palin’s screed on the sanctity of Christmas was outsold online on Black Friday by comic Rob Delaney’s intentionally funny new book.

But there’s still time for Warriors for Christmas to battle back.

To help in the never-ending effort to defend the nation’s most popular and least threatened holiday, the American Family Association has issued a helpful “Naughty or Nice?” list of the friends and enemies of Christmas.

Naughty or Nice

The blue companies are “5-star” rated companies, and according to the site, deserving of your support. The “5-star” rating is especially impressive given that none of the other ratings involve any stars at all.

Green is “Christmas friendly.” I call the yellow companies “Christmas curious,” meaning they’re only exploring their pro-Christmas leanings. Red, ironically, is used to denote companies that are “against” Christmas. One retailer, Radio Shack, is even worthy of a boycott because they’ve repeatedly “censored” the word Christmas.

The American Family Association also brings you the radio show of Bryan Fischer, the organization’s Director of Issue Analysis for Government and Public Policy. Fischer, a regular denizen of Henry Decker’s This Week In Crazybelieves homosexuality is caused by Satan, Ted Cruz is a modern version of the prophet Elijah and Islam should be banned, at least at the state level.
