[...] Like the other Republicans, Jindal isn’t one to let reality mar his simplistic view of how the world works. Despite his recent soundbite-friendly criticism about his “stupid party,” in his two terms as governor, Jindal has used his position to do basically what every other figurehead of the “stupid party” wants to do. His attitude can generally be summed up as follows: Fuck the poor, sick, and old, fuck kids and public schools, fuck teachers, and something about the Lock Ness Monster. [...]

[...] Jindal is a curious messenger to tell Republicans that they should stop insulting the intelligence of the American people. After all, the Louisiana governor claims that he cured a woman’s cancer with an exorcism, and — through his support of the largest school voucher program in the nation — Louisiana has been re-routing money from public schools to private institutions that teach students that the Loch Ness Monster is real and the Great Depression was a myth, among other insane curricula.
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I grew up in Shreveport and went to public elementary school there, I went to public middle school in Baton Rouge, and I went to public high school in Shreveport. Never have I ever even heard of any of my peers or siblings being taught this garbage. I certainly have never been taught this. Of course, this is nationalmemo. You people come here to reinforce your steriotypes, not to actually learn anything.
FYI...The Grapes of Wrath was required reading my junior year, my teacher loved Steinbeck as do I. In AP American History we made fun of the KKK and their "Grand Cyclops" or "Grand Dragon"...I can't say the loch ness monster ever even came up. We talked about Africa but the communist regimes were only one part of a complex and disturbing study on Africa.

While all of these things are amazingly ridiculous, there are also problems with the premise of the post. The books mentioned are not used by the majority of religious schools. They are generally used by evangelicals and home-schoolers, while Louisiana 's private schools are overwhelmingly Catholic, not evangelical. A voucher program would funnel very, very little money to institutions which support these types of teachings.

Obozo, you are back with your usual shi*. Congratulations on surviving your lobotomy.
I was worried that you might not be able to think clearly but then remembered that you have never been able to think clearly so no one would notice anyway.
I hope you have a nice day.
