Compromises

I will concede that everyone should be thououghly screened like we are here for purchase of a gun and even ammo.

If you will concede that guns and ammo are not the root problem.

Those of us who do competitive shooting can go thru 1,000 rounds a week easy.
That is our sport, we practice it, a lot. For me it is IDPA – “Defensive Shooting Scenarios like the theater.”
Some of us go thru 5,000 rounds a month.
Most police only shoot maybe 100-200 a month.
Most people are astounded at how fast and accurately we can shoot threat targets and safely for(miss) non-threat(hostage) targets.
Along this line many of us think if there is a national disaster of some type we may never again be able to get any more ammo.(And with all the talk from the “left” about limiting the sale of ammo.)
So control – yes(the crazies). Limit – NO.(Not the good guys anyway).
With all the flap from the “left”, we think that “limits” are coming on guns and ammo and it will only hurt us good guys. And actually make you and me “less” safe.
So storing and keeping 5,000 even 10,000 rounds is not uncommon for us. The difference is we are not going out and killing people.
Again – it is not the ammo.
But I would not have a problem with some fed or state person inquiring as to why I need so much. On that I can agree with you. Just dont restrict “me” and my type who are trying to do things right.

There are about 1,000 members in my gun club. About 600 can out-shoot the police. That is more private shooters than police in all surrounding counties combined. (Not saying we are “better” then the Police, we are not). But if just 3 of us were in the theater he would not have survived and the death toll would have been a lot less.

Let us go into gun free zones armed and the killing will go “way” down.
These cowards do not want to face us on even footing.

ps none of us has committed mass murder and not likely too, you have to be screened to even get into the club

Point is, there are a lot of us out there who could have made a difference at most all of these mass murder sites. But not if you dis-arm us. Or restrict our access to ammo.

Gun control reminds me of the US Congress passing laws that often hurt the people they are ment to help.

The intention was good but the actual results were terrible and deadly.
Like prohibition of liquor back in the day.

THREATS
There are a lot of potential threats out there to our way of life. Some of which can happen quickly. Iran/Israel War shutting down the St of Hormoze, cutting off oil.
A solar flare cutting off power everywhere for an extended time. A nuclear terrorist attack (there are still several suitecase size weapons the Russians can not account for). Economic collapse. Global Warming is a long term thing that I dont think we can do that much about – the Chinese are building, what?, 50 coal plants a year.
Our efforts at CO2 control are a drop in the bucket compared to what they are doing.
City bankruptcies, reduced police forces, etc, etc. Bad economy – growing gang and hoodlum problems, here anyway.
While I dont consider the Fed Govt a threat, I dont trust them to always do the right thing either. Or just as much chance they will do it incompentently and make the problem worse. Or, with our current “grid-lock” state of affairs and perpetual election state- not act at all.

I will probably vote Obama again but just because I think he may do less overall damage than Romney. I am a centrist but there are no centrist candidates.
