OMG, no one says the Koch brothers can't donate to anything they want to. Or anyone else, for that matter. The problem is what they want in return. I see the Koch Brothers as wanting nothing less than an all-out Plutocracy. You see George Soros, et. al. as far left socialists. You may be right about the Democratic party. Or at least the far left of the party. But I believe I am right about the far right of the Republican party, which includes the Koch Brothers, Dick Cheney, et. al. They are not the Republican party of long ago, either. I will read David Horowitz's book, but I will tell you, he is going to have to prove to me that there is that huge imbalance in dollars. Of course, that could be because there are more Democrats than Republicans. Look, OMG, you need to get over the notion that all Democrats want nothing more than to take all the money away from all the rich people. That is not what most of the people want. That is what right-wing Republicans tell you the Democrats or any non-Republican wants.

As for numbers, both sides like to play with numbers. As the old saying goes, "Figures lie, and liars figure.

You see, OMG, I frankly don't give a damn how rich Romney is. And he sure doesn't give a damn how poor I am. If he doesn't want to publicize his tax returns, I'm OK with that. I wouldn't believe that he was being entirely honest about them anyway. Totally meaningless. Ranks right up there with the Birther witch hunters. There is a big difference, OMG, between being "fair" and being "equal." Fewer people than you might think, have no interest in being on equaly financial footing with Mitt Romney. Throwing the word "equal" into the argument is a not-so-sly trick of semantics. Making it sound as though asking for fairness is asking to be equal. And I know you are smart enough to know that. I say," Go ahead and refuse to show your tax returns. You have that right. It's not a legal requirement." If he can pull it off and still get elected then that's what the voters want. If he ends up losing the election over it, well, that's how it goes. The choice is Mitt's and I don't care what he does. The people who post comments here do not represent all non-Republicans or all middle-class or blue-collar thinking. Only their own. And some of it is truly cringe-worthy. From both sides.

Maybe I am being too critical as I read Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison statement when she said "If you take his charitable contributions and his taxes, it is way more than what most people pay in taxes—surely more than 40%.” In a way, she is right. I bet Romney does pay more in taxes than most people in straight dollars, but as a pecentage of total income that claim doesn't ring true. I don't think she has a firm grasp of percentages if she thinks that 40% is more than most. Most would be 51%, and way more than 51% would be way more than 51% and certainly way way more than 40%.

For a serious racists...he sure did a lot to help out the black population of this country. Appointed Marshall to the Supreme Court. Had personal conversations with MLK Jr. re Civil Rights and the right to vote w/out Jim Crow laws, If that is a racist, I'll take him over the current pious GOP now, who have initiated their own version of Jim Crow laws across many states. Black people hooked on entitlements....next you'll use the Gingrich code of
"Food Stamp Collectors" 54% of Food stamp collectors are WHITE in this country. Your racism is showing. I am not a leftist....I am a centrist. I was a voting Republican from 18 to 48 but GW and Cheney made me dislike the GOP....Bachman...Reid...Boehner...McConnell..
Santorum...etc...adnauseum. Don't get me wrong, I was never a big fan of Frank or Kennedy

Alaska is also a state added to the U.S. Post WWII, but NO ONE....NO ONE asked to see Palin's Birth Certificate. When George Romney ran for President.....NO ONE made a big deal about his birth certificate....EVEN THOUGH HE WAS BORN IN MEXICO. But he was WHITE.....so if skin color doesn't matter, what say you to the "BIRTHERS". You are kidding yourself if you think skin doesn't matter to anyone you know. Also nice of you to borrow that last line from MLK Jr. because when it comes to content of character....the President has that one HANDs DOWN......Have a nice night.

Gene... LBJ was a serious racist. That is a fact. He hated blacks his whole life and everyone of the day knew it. He even voted against Civil Rights while he was in the Congress. The only reason he supported Civil Rights was political. That he felt that he could convert the black vote, which was almost exclusively Republican since the Civil War, to the Democratic party. He also pushed the "Great Society Wrecking Programs" because he knew he could permanently lock in the black vote for DemocRATS by getting them hooked on government entitlements. He was right! Witness the state of the black family, or what's left of it, in America.

And this bullsheet that you and the other leftist nutjobs on here cry about people who disagree with Obozo are racists is absolutely DEAD WRONG! You useful idiots on the left throw the race card out when you know you have nothing left to say. Too bad, it's not working. No one I know gives a damn about skin color. We keep wondering why you guys on the left do. For me and everyone I know, it's about the content of a man's character, not the color of his skin. Too bad for the knuckleheads on the left, skin color IS important.

I saw a bumber sticker that was funny. It said: "I'm not racist. I hate his white half too!"

Have a nice day!

Metro... You are welcome for the recs. They are both fantastic books written by 2 extremely brilliant men.

The Koch brothers are free to donate to Freedom Works or any other organization they so desire. Just like Soros, the Ford Foundation, the Annenburg Foundation, and ll the other far left socialists and one-worlders that fund leftist causes.

For facts on who really has the money, the right or the left, I would recommend David Horowitz's new book "The New Leviathan" which details how the left has combined nearly one trillion dollars behind it, while the total of the right leaning organizations is barely at one hundred billion. Go to Amazon and read the summary. Read some of the reviews.

I am telling you, Metro, the Democratic party that y0u knew from long ago and felt was the "working man's" party, IS NOT anything close to what it was. The entire party has been taken over by the far left. This is what is unsettling to you, but you cant really describe it. By the way, dont think that I give a pass to the Repubs. I don't. They have been complicit in graft and corruption almost as much as the Dems, with minor exceptions, to get along and go along while the Dem party was slowly being swallowed up by the radical socialists. This is true. This is how we got Obozo.

I do alot of reading, my friend. These Obozo people are hell bent on transforming America into their socialist vision of centralized control over all economic resources and virtually every aspect of the lives of every American. I'm not so sure there is evil intent in what they are doing so much as their views and beliefs lead them to conclude that America is not a "fair" place and it's their duty to make everyone "equal" according to their dictates. The problem is that history teaches us that this sort of process ALWAYS goes bad.

I gotta run. I hope you are well. Have a great day!

Really Dominick? Because that hypocrisy doesn't live on the left....Right? It's only a Republican attribute? Just how long did it take Obama to release his birth certificate? He let that whole controversy foster for a year before he finally released something. And how about the college transcripts that that people asked for but have been sealed up? Still not released. You think there is anything in there that could hurt Obama? Probably. It's not that anyone thinks he's a criminal, but they will find every little comment he made, paper he wrote, association he belonged to and paint him how they want. And you guys want to do the same thing with Romney.

It's a catch 22. Ask for them and he doesn't comply so he's hiding something criminal. If he complies, you'll take the information, distort it, exploite it, infuse if with a lot of speculation, and try to tear down the guy with misinformation. Just more politics.

I own a small business and have an accountant do my taxes every year. You would have no idea what my taxes represented each year without any context of what I was doing, what projects were closing and what new things I decided to invest in. It would make no sense at all. In fact, it doesn't even make any sense to me and I know what I was doing. Now take a man with a thousand times more money than me, and all the things he would invest in on a yearly basis and forget it. This is a pointless argument and is only being politicized to get everyone up in arms about some big scandal that doesn't actually exist.

Thanks for the recommendations on the books. I am, of course, familiar with both men, but I have not read either of those books.

As far as the Koch Brothers funding Tea Party activities, I believe the connection is through Dick Armey and not all them Tea Party folks is jus' good 'ol true blue Amurricans, either.

Have a great evening and give my regards to Mrs. OMG!

We have followed the same path, in different directions. Up through college and a little beyond, I was liberal. Then as I grew up and learned about the world, I realized that I did not live my life personally nor did I make decisions for MY life as a liberal. I actually made conservative, rational decisions about my marriage, my career, my investments, my purchases, how I felt children should be raised, and a whole host of other areas of life. That's when it hit me. That's when I realized that my liberalism was really just a fantasy about how I thought everyone else must be. Liberalism involves foisting my beliefs on others. Once I realized this, there was no turning back.

You are right to not like what you see. Most Americans have a sense that "something is wrong", but it's hard to put your finger on exactly. The traditional R & D parties like us to be at each other's throats over silly stuff while they each conspired to enrich themselves through corruption and graft. Corrupt ties to business and unions with backroom dealings that result in robbing the taxpayers.

All the while this was going on, we normal working conservative Americans got up each day and went to work, came home, coached Little League, ate dinner, watched the news and went to bed to start all over again the next day. The radicals from the 60's slowly have taken over the DemocRATic party and have eschewed private business and honest work while they have been busily taking over education, the legal system, local, and state governments, and federal bureaucracies. They are naturally more politically active than us normal people who are inclined to choose to live our lives in peace and quiet.

And at this point, the election of Obozo has proven to us that our once free republic is NOT guaranteed to remain as we had for so long taken for granted. And in fact, knowing Obozo and his background and then watching his moves and the people he surrounds himself with, it is quite clear that he and his ilk have every intention of "fundamentally transforming America" exactly as he said. This realization is where the Tea Party originated. More and more people are waking up to this fact. More and more people are actually reading The Constitution and The Federalist Papers. And contrary to you guys on the left, the Tea Party is 100% grassroots. There are no leaders, there is no coordinated agendas. There is no funding from the Koch brothers or anyone else. It's mostly just a bunch of people that were never politically active reacting to the realization that our country is in serious peril and is being run by a guy with more in common with Fidel Castro than George Washington! It's true. Listen to his speeches when he goes off prompter. His central belief is in government centralized power and control... exactly the opposite of our founder's vision and purpose. This man, combine with a national debt soaring out of control, is terrifying to most Americans. He must be thrown out.

Since you tend to be much more open minded, Metro, you should read a couple of books. David Mamet's "The Secret Knowlege" is awesome. David Horowitz's "Radical Son" is equally good. I think you'll enjoy Mamet's book first because it's actually very funny! Horowitz is a former 60's radical revolutionary that woke up. Both guys are absolutely brilliant. You will like the books. I promise.

I gotta run, Metro. I'll try to catch up with you tomorrow.

Have a great evening! Say hello to Mrs. Metro for me!
