US Futures Edge Up On Strong Corporate Earnings
October 16th, 2012 11:14 am Associated PressNEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are rising for a second day as the earnings season kicks into high gear, with major players in the health care, banking and consumer industries reporting quarterly results.
Dow Jones industrial futures are up 23 points to 13,382. The broader S&P futures have tacked on 2.7 points to 1,438.40. Nasdaq futures are up 7 points to 2,738.25.
Mattel and UnitedHealth posted strong results for the third quarter Tuesday. On deck is Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola, with IBM, the CSX railroad and Intel coming after the bell.
Also on Tuesday, economists expect the Labor Department to report that consumer prices rose in September. That report comes out at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.
Markets in Europe are higher at midday there. Asian markets closed higher.
