WATCH: Hillary Clinton Declares Support For Same-Sex Marriage

Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has teamed up with the Human Rights Campaign to publicly support same-sex marriage.  The video comes at a crucial time, as the Supreme Court is about to begin hearing challenges to the Defense of Marriage Act on Tuesday, March 26.

“A little over a year ago in Geneva, I told the nations of the world that gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights. And that the United States would be a leader in defending those rights.” Clinton says. “I believe America is at its best when we champion the freedom and dignity of every human being. That’s who we are. It’s in our DNA.”

President of the Heritage Foundation and former Republican senator from South Carolina, Jim DeMint, released his own video on Sunday to voice his support for DOMA. The National Organization for Marriage will be holding a Marriage March on March 26 to bring attention to protecting conservatives’ narrow definition of marriage.

Vice President Joe Biden, President Obama, former governor Jon Huntsman (R-UT), and most recently Republican senator Rob Portman (R-OH) have all announced their support for marriage equality. DeMint and his conservative colleagues are slowly getting the message that their beliefs are completely out of touch with public support.

"To the extent that this propaganda takes hold, it makes it more difficult for us to really see this as an authoritarian versus democracy battle."
