#EndorseThis: 'Borat' Thanks Giuliani During Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

The most unusual Golden Globes ever took place last night-- hosted by the girl power duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler,. The veteran hosts delivered an amusing monologue that righteously called out the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which sponsors the awards, over longstanding diversity and inclusion problems that its leaders then vowed to remedy.

But perhaps the funniest moment of the night was when Sacha Baron Cohen remotely accepted an award for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. He didn't neglect to thank his "co-star" Rudy Giuliani, "a fresh new talent who came from nowhere" and suffered exposure for his inappropriate behavior on file.
Only Rudy could inspire a speech this hysterical. Did you miss it? No worries.

You may have heard by now that Sacha Baron Cohen is about to release his new movie -- Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, or Borat 2 for short – on Amazon Prime. You may also have heard that this film includes a "beyond cringe" bedroom scene starring the real Rudy Giuliani and a very young woman posing as a reporter.

More on that later. For the moment, here's Borat himself appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he subjects the late-night comic to an intrusive "coronavirus inspection." This episode of comedic anarchy is in fact a send-up of QAnon, the vicious, anti-Semitic conspiracy craze that has devoured the Republican Party.

It gets pretty wild, with a clip from the new movie and an appearance by Borat's "daughter" Tutara (the would-be seducer of Rudy).

Enjoy -- and just imagine what's yet to come.

American film audiences often fail to get the joke but laugh anyway. That’s why Spinal Tap and the Blues Brothers each became popular touring bands, why The Great White Hype is treated like a loving ode to the boxing industry, and why Borat is viewed as a slapstick comedy instead of the amazing political satire that it is.

The film’s star and creator Sacha Baron Cohen understands the significance of his art form. That’s why his latest resurrection of the character is not focused on sight gags, but on the American political landscape.

Little else is known about Cohen’s new project, slated to premiere on Showtime in mid-July. This teaser clip from Cohen’s Twitter account features Borat’s unmistakable voice asking for an autograph from none other than GOP icon Dick Cheney.

Borat is always funny to listen to. But the former Bush VP’s behavior in the clip may send a chill up your spine.
