Saturday Night Live Spoofs Democrats’ New Hampshire Debate

It was a tough week for Democrats — and it concluded wincingly with Saturday Night Live lampooning the Democratic presidential primary field with a parody of their New Hampshire debate.

Leading the parade of “future MSNBC contributors” is Vermont firebrand Bernie Sanders, whose tics and accent are so uncannily personified by Larry David. Commenting acidly on the Iowa caucus mess, Sanders quips:

“Hey I have an idea for an app. It’s called no apps! You show up to your polling place, take a number like you do at your butcher … Give me a pound of whatever’s about to go bad.”

Also returning is Rachel Dratch as Amy Klobuchar, who aims to persuade us that only the women have their heads on straight. “Why am I not doing better?” she moans. “I’m the most reasonable person on the stage.” And Kate McKinnon, reprising her wonderful impression of Elizabeth Warren, tartly answers worries about her electability: “I have a great solution for that: Elect me.”

Saturday Night Live Delivers ‘The Trial You Wish Had Happened’

Feeling frustrated by the Senate Republicans’ rigged impeachment trial? So are the cast and crew of Saturday Night Live, who vented creatively with a cold open sketch: “The Trial You Wish Had Happened,” which begins with a robed  Kenan Thompson seizing control as television’s Judge Mathis to ensure a proper trial.

“This court needs a real judge who got some big brass ones under his skirt,” intones Thompson as he ejects the supine Chief Justice John Roberts (Mikey Day) out of his seat. “Now where’s that sneaky little Mitch?” In comes Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Beck Bennett), so he can “remind the American people that all men are innocent after proven guilty.”

Alec Baldwin returns as Trump, with Kate McKinnon providing a hysterical star turn as “Lindsey Valerie Beauregard Matlock Graham!” This impeachment even ends the way it should.

Saturday Night Live: Baldwin Returns As Trump, So Bored He Tells The Truth

Alec Baldwin returns to Saturday Night Live as Donald Trump, holding a press conference with the visiting presidents of Baltic nations — and he finds himself so enervated and annoyed that he is honest, for a moment, about himself.

With Beck Bennett, Kate McKinnon, Alex Moffat, Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant and a hilarious opening shot by Leslie Jones as a Fox News anchor.

SNL: Alec Baldwin Reveals Our Clown President’s Crisis Management Plan

In yet another moment of crisis, Alec Baldwin returns to Saturday Night Live as the president whose incompetence and laziness — ordinarily a sort of blessing — has become a terrible curse on the suffering people of Puerto Rico. So learns San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz (Melissa Villaseñor) when she places a desperate call for help to the Oval Office, only to have a whining Trump hang up on her.

Sadly for Puerto Rico, the White House confusion is all part of his plan: “The more chaos I cause, the less people can focus.” Trump’s chicken-fried press secretary, the durable Sarah Huckabee Sanders (Aidy Bryant), “no nonsense but all nonsense,” is ever eager to amplify the deception. So is ultra-loyal Attorney General Jeff Sessions (Kate McKinnon), the country’s cutest white nationalist, who pleads: “Don’t tweet on me again!”
