A new report from New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt's book about Donald Trump has refocused attention on the president's unexpected visit last November to Walter Reed Medical Center, a trip that has never been fully explained.

The White House claimed that the president was simply going in early for the first phase of his annual physical, though as many people pointed out, that's not a thing. And Schmidt reported that Vice President Mike Pence was told to be on standby to take over the duties of the presidency in case the president went under anesthesia, though reportedly that step was not necessary.

How Trump’s Attacks On ’Sleepy Joe’ Backfired On Him

Although President Donald Trump has been widely criticized for his inadequate response to the coronavirus crisis, he has a reputation for being a major germaphobe and obsessing over his health. Trump, now 73, has often boasted about how fit and healthy he believes he is. And journalists Ashley Parker and Josh Dawsey in the Washington Post report that recently, Trump has become even more obsessed with his physical and mental health.

Trump, according to the Post reporters, has shown a "growing preoccupation in recent weeks over perceptions of his mental and physical health at a time when critics have mocked him for episodes in which they say he has appeared frail or confused."

Medical Ethics Expert Slams ‘Rosy’ Report On Trump’s Health

Medical Ethics Expert Slams ‘Rosy’ Report On Trump’s Health

An expert on medical ethics slammed Donald Trump’s doctor, Dr. Sean Conley, for claiming the president is expected to remain “in very good health” for “the duration of his Presidency, and beyond,” the Washington Post reports.

Dr. Conley made the claim about Trump’s health in a memorandum released Friday by the White House, after the president saw a “panel of 11 board certified specialists” over the course of four hours.

But according to medical ethics expert Arthur R. Caplan, who works at New York University, Conley’s “speculation is both unnecessary and smacks of politically rosy glasses skewing age and weight and diet.”

“We need to know is Trump capable of the office now — not in his second term,” Caplan told the Post.

The expert noted while there’s “no ethical prohibition” preventing Conley from making such a claim, “rash speculation shaped by political matters is not exemplary professionalism.”

Conley is the third doctor who’s released a statement touting Trump’s physical health since he announced his run for office in 2015. In December of that year, Dr. Harold Bornstein issued a stunning statement claiming Trump would “be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein later claimed Trump had “dictated the letter” he signed and released to the public.

In January 2018, Dr. Ronny Jackson concluded Trump has “great genes,” while claiming that with a better diet, the president could “live to be 200 years old.”

America is completely in the dark about Trump’s physical and mental health, thanks to new revelations that call into question previous claims that Trump is okay by not one doctor but two.

Trump’s personal doctor, Harold Bornstein, now says that the December 2015 letter he signed proclaiming Trump’s “extraordinary” strength and physical stamina was in fact dictated by Trump himself.

Bornstein told CNN, “He dictated that whole letter. I didn’t write that letter.” He added, “I just made it up as I went along.”

That news comes after Trump’s supposedly official health assessment in January. The letter that claimed Trump was “in excellent health” was signed by “Dr. Ronnie Jackson,” but the then White House physician was Dr. Ronny Jackson.

Jackson was later forced to withdraw his nomination to be Secretary for the Veterans Administration after numerous reports surfaced about his questionable behavior, including how the White House doctor dispensed drugs.

So, the only two documents giving a positive assessment of Trump’s physical health have been seriously called into question. There is no reliable assessment of Trump’s physical condition, as there has been for previous presidents.

Trump’s physical and mental status are not simply trivial issues. In his position, Trump oversees the most important economy in the world while commanding the strongest military on the planet and the most potent nuclear arsenal.

His health is a fundamental element of how he goes about the day-to-day execution of his job.

During the campaign, while promoting conspiracies and hoaxes about Hillary Clinton’s health, Trump raised the topic. He accused Clinton of not having “the strength or the stamina to make America great again.”

What we have been told about Trump’s health now has the appearance of another one of his orchestrated media events.

In the past, he pushed stories designed to make him look good and to attack those he opposed (like his then-wife Ivana Trump) by pretending to be “John Barron” with reporters.

The stories now circulating surrounding the origin of Trump’s two public medical assessments distinctly resemble the “fake news” he pushed out about himself. Neither document was independently created, and their veracity is now in serious doubt.

He proclaimed himself a “very stable genius” after medical professionals began raising concerns about his mental state. But there isn’t a credible medical analysis to back up his panicked denials.

Trump has access to dangerous weapons that could alter the health and safety of the entire planet. Yet nobody knows — independently — if he is physically or mentally fit to hold his job. His history of lies and meddling created this situation.

Everyone’s safety requires that these key issues be addressed, but Trump will not act.
