PRETORIA (AFP) – Nelson Mandela remains in a “critical but stable” condition, South Africa’s presidency said Monday, more than three weeks after the anti-apartheid hero was hospitalized with a recurring lung infection.

In a statement, the presidency urged South Africans to begin planning for Mandela’s 95th birthday on July 18.
