A member of the House Intelligence Committee says Donald Trump Jr. lied when he testified before Congress — and that Republicans helped him to cover up.

In an interview with CNN, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) revealed that she believes there were “at least two occasions when [Trump Jr.] lied to the committee” when he offered testimony about Russian election interference.

Speier further explained that her Republican colleagues prevented the committee from subpoenaing documents that could have disproved Trump Jr.’s testimony.

She described these Republicans as “puppets of the President” who were willing to ignore their constitutional duties just to protect Trump’s son.

It is a federal crime to lie to Congress.

Trump Jr.’s potential lies have come under scrutiny after special counsel Robert Mueller charged former Trump lawyer and personal fixer Michael Cohen with lying to Congress.

When he testified in the Senate, Trump Jr. denied that foreign governments either offered or provided assistance to the Trump campaign.

But there are credible reports that government representatives from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates met with Trump Jr. before the election and said they wanted to help.

The incoming chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), has made it clear that he intends to fully investigate Trump’s foreign entanglements — oversight that the GOP has utterly failed to conduct during Trump’s first two years in office.

And Republicans signaled that they will keep ignoring this duty as long as they possibly can. Despite serious allegations that Trump Jr. lied to Congress, Republicans in the Senate have said they will notinvestigate the matter.

Republicans continue to protect Trump and his family and inner circle no matter what.

That’s a big reason why voters turned out in historic numbers to give control of the House to Democrats, who have vowed to change course and finally provide oversight of Trump’s corruption.

Madison Cawthorn

The Republican party seems to be having trouble trying to be the Christian Taliban and hating on LGBT people when they’ve got Rep. Madison Cawthorn in their ranks. His presence is making it so much harder for them to suppress their inner self-loathing--homosexuality and moral hypocrisy.

We all know politicians secretly love illicit drugs as much as taking bribes or paying off strippers they knocked up, so you have to give Cawthorn some credit for being honest. However, any creditability as a human he might have goes out the window when you consider his hatred and policies toward the LGBT community while, hypocritically enough, he engages in homosexual acts himself.
