#EndorseThis: Colbert Roasts Trump’s Cabinet, From Tillerson To Perry

Reviewing the high-level traffic in and out of Trump Tower this week, as President-elect Donald Trump filled out his cabinet, Late Show host Stephen Colbert notes, “So far it’s been a Who’s Who of Why? What??!” The latest Trump cameo featured Kanye West — a perilous “gathering of the two most powerful American narcissists in the same room.” Their deep discussion of “multicultural issues” concluded with “a bro hug.”

Colbert remarks on the appointment of Rex Tillerson, the ExxonMobil CEO, as secretary of state, which could make every gas station into “an official U.S. embassy.” But at least Tillerson believes in climate change. “Of course he believes in it!” exclaims Colbert. “He invented it!”

There was also a loser in Trump’s State Department audition — the erstwhile Republican nominee and Trump critic, Mitt Romney. Colbert almost bought the idea that Romney would win after watching Trump treat him to a fancy dinner in Manhattan, with a menu that included “frogs’ legs in a reduction of Romney’s dignity.”

And then there’s Rick Perry, the new Energy Secretary, whom Colbert said he could describe in three words: “Dumb. Mother…and I forget the third one.” Somehow jokes reduce the pain.

Amazingly, she didn’t threaten to expose alleged corruption by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by quoting a Russian think-tank bot-factory known as Strategic Culture Foundation, as she did last November. Rather, the Congressperson from North Georgia made her eleventy-zillionth threat to oust the Speaker of the House from her own party, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), using the Motion to Vacate she filed last month. She told Fox viewers she wanted to return to her House district to “listen to voters” before acting, however.

Trump Campaign Gives Access To Far-Right Media But Shuns Mainstream Press

Trump campaign press pass brandished on air by QAnon podcaster Brenden Dilley

Trump's Hour On CNN Was A Profile In Cowardice

Vanity Fair recently reported that several journalists from mainstream publications, including The Washington Post, NBC News, Axios, and Vanity Fair, were denied press access to Trump’s campaign events, seemingly in retaliation for their previous critical coverage. Meanwhile, Media Matters found that the campaign has granted press credentials to the QAnon-promoting MG Show and Brenden Dilley, a podcaster who has promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory and leads a “meme team” that creates pro-Trump content.
