  • I would have been a lot more impressed if the photo was one of our servicemen serving our country and putting their lives on the line, instead of one of soldiers loyal to the Assad regime fighting and killing civilians. The National Memo missed the boat on this one

    • Yes, I agree. What’s up with that, I wonder?

Concur. And it’s not even an interesting or artistic image. Looks like the benchwarmers are starting today.

Senseless photo and then new posts devoted to Ronald Reagan, Michelle Bachman, and Donald Trump. The NM seems to be trotting out the old Republican bugbears for our delectation.

C-Span will run today’s Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington again tonight. I think that was a better use of my time than reading these silly posts. It begins with the placing of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns by young men and women called (ironically) the Old Guard. The service in the huge ampitheater on the grounds of the cemetery was stately and though sentimental, in perfect taste. I was impressed by an American Sign Language Interpreter who stood signing beneath the dais throughout the entire ceremony, over an hour long. Interpreting music as well as speeches.

Hard to believe in a country of over three hundred million only one million war dead are counted among us and were honored today, along with a somewhat smaller number of men and women still active in the armed services or counted among their veterans.
