PARIS (Reuters) – Iran has kept to a nuclear deal it agreed with six world powers last year limiting its stockpiles of substances that could be used to make atomic weapons, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) told French daily Le Monde.

Confirming the findings of a confidential report by the U.N. agency seen by Reuters last month, IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano said Tehran had observed the deal which was opposed by hardliners inside Iran and by skeptics in the West.

“The deal is being implemented since January without any particular problem,” he told Le Monde in an interview published on Saturday.

“There was a small incident in February: the stock of heavy water very slightly exceeded the limit set – 130 tonnes. But we immediately signaled that to Iran which took all the necessary measures,” he said.

Under its July deal with the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany, Iran is allowed to have 130 tonnes of heavy water, a moderator in reactors like the one it has disabled at Arak and a chemical it produces itself.

The stock briefly reached 130.9 tonnes, the agency reported in February.

“Apart from that, I can certify that Tehran respects its commitments to the letter. The Iranians are doing what they promised the international community,” Amano said.

  1. I am making something like 6000-8000 bucks /every month from freelancing at home. If you are prepared to finish basic at home tasks for 2h-5h every day at your house and gain valuable benefit in the same time… This is a task for you…

  2. I guess, if they say so.. But wouldn’t the U.S. be so much greater with upwards of 500-600,000 of our troops fighting across a battlefront that spanned from W. Pakistan to the Mediterranean Sea off the Western Coast of Syria? On the multiple theories that Iran is determined to acquire nuclear weapons to drive Israel into the Sea. That the war would pay for itself, and be very brief. While serving to reestablish American dominance. Rather than setting down at some negotiating table with our allies, and advisories, and avoiding all the chaos and bloodshed altogether. I’m just sayin’ What is so attractive to the PC Liberals about America being a force for peace, if at some point we don’t find some reason to go to war to achieve it? What in that scenario advances our interests? Helps our dear military contractors? Or gives us the chance to take the oil, and garner the kind of fear, shock and awe due a great World power like the Soviet Union?.. Er, I meant the United States.. Just thinking about that Putin, what a strong leader, that guy! And very popular too, I hear!

    • yep…you nailed it. My brother was an AF officer and later an intelligence agent and he once said “what would a military person who trained for years do without a war?” My question was always – what would a RW war economy do without a war?

    • I think many RWs actually believe that without wars and shoveling money into the pockets of defense industry types, that there will be lots of people losing jobs and the economy tanking. But interestingly, there was an announcement about the middle of last month which I don’t think got the news kick that it should have gotten. Despite Obama’s efforts to keep America out of wars, 2015 saw the first jump in America’s median income since 2007, up 5.2% from 2014 which is one of the biggest on year jumps ever in median income, and the poverty rate in America actually declined. All of which blows a real hole in what many RWs believe.

      See this from

The middle class gets a big raise … finally!

After years of watching their incomes go nowhere, America’s middle class finally got a big raise last year.

Median household income rose to $56,516 in 2015, up 5.2% from a year earlier, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau Tuesday. It marks the first increase in median income since 2007,the year before the Great Recession started.

Also, the poverty rate ticked down to 13.5% in 2015, from 14.8% a year earlier. And, the share of those without health insurance dropped below 10%. That’s the first time all three measures have improved in nearly two decades,
according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

The data is sure to become a talking point in the 2016 presidential election. Donald Trump has repeatedly hammered home that income is $4,000 lower than it was in 2000. (That’s true if you are comparing it to 2014 data, which had been the most recent available. But Trump often referenced it as current figures, which makes it false.)

      • War is a most effective wealth re-distributior. It takes monies that might be spent on public healthcare, educating our youth, financing R&D in medicine, science, and technology, or rebuilding national infrastructure. And puts it in the hands of the weapons manufacturers, war profiteers, and the bottomless campaign coffers of politicians who choose war over diplomacy because it benefits them, their political ideology, or is simply inherently in their nature to do so. Particularly if the adversary is weaker, and holds assets they or their backers find attractive.

    • The only action along those lines likely to end the problems there is outright sterilization: extermination of all living things in the region, something (I hope) no one would seriously propose.

  3. It’s all a passive-aggressive charade. Iran behaves like a child who promises to be good while poking his siblings. Their actions in the Gulf are those of a nation spoiling for a fight because only then can they perform their righteous violence with a clear conscience. Unlikely to end well.

    • And how is that behavior any different than the Neocon Right Wingers in Congress? Like a petulant Senator Cotton who’s letter signed by the GOP leadership addressed to the Leader of Iran. Promising the accord signed onto by five other Nations, three of them our own Allies, was not valid, or binding, and would never be respected by the U.S. after the Obama Administration was gone. How is that not spoiling for a fight, in order to preform their own invasions, their own “perceptions of righteous violence?”

    • Maybe they feel that way at least in part because the US overthrew their elected government to give them the gift of the Shah and his brutal secret police, which also helped bring in the lunatics who rule there now, not to mention all its other aggressive and high-handed policies towards less-powerful countries. You’re right: as things are currently going, neither country is likely to come to a happy ending.

      • We certainly pissed off the government of Iran, but the people seem to like us just fine. Lunatics they certainly are, and dangerous ones at that. Blowback’s a b!tch.

  4. Bet this report never makes it to Fox News. Or Sean Hannity. Well, maybe the part about the 0.9T of excess water the Iranians dumped. That will be BIG NEWS.

  5. I get paid around six to eight thousand dollars monthly with an internet task i found on the internet. If you are eager to work basic computer-based tasks for 2h-5h daily at your home and gain good income for doing it… Then this golden opportunity is for you…
