5 Things You Need To Read — Thursday, May 10 Edition

May 10th, 2012 12:03 am Avi Zenilman

The backstory: It really was Joe Biden who forced Obama’s hand on gay marriage.

A lonely House Republican defends Planned Parenthood.

A great illustration that illuminates  the regional distribution of gay rights — guess how badly the south does?.

Russia launches giant cyber-attack on U.S. video site that was broadcasting anti-Putin protests.

What should America do about the soldier kidnapped by the Taliban? His parents are now publicly pushing for a prisoner swap.

BONUS: Watch Barack Obama come out for gay marriage — again.

In reference to same sex marriages and President Obama’s statement of backing gay marriage, it is truly an oxymoron that the State of Georgia is one of the 30 states that is against same sex marriages when Georgia has the LARGEST amount of homosexuals and lesbians in the country and possibly the world. It’s about time that the leader of a country that professes so damn much about democracy and freedom in other countries finally steps up and understands that everyone should be treated with respect and same sex couples should have the rights that heterosexual couples. RIGHT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA!

Jomanita…Georgia isn’t even in the top 20! New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, D.C., Boston, San Diego, Denver, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon, all make the list of the 20 gayest metros. But so do Dallas, Columbus, Ohio, Santa Rosa and Sacramento, Springfield, Massachusetts, Portland, Maine, and college towns like Eugene, Oregon, Ann Arbor, Michigan and Ithaca, New York.
      Sorry!

KEEPING IT THOUGHTFULLY HONEST: Ok! Now let’s move-on! Let’s keep our eye on the ball! It’s about JOBS! Remember?

    • joyscarbo

So.. the civil liberties of ALL Americans- whether gay or straight- isn’t keeping our eye on the ball? It’s equally as important to jobs and the economy.

Does it surprise anyone that so many in the South are against gay rights! Seems at one time we had a civil war because they also denied someone else their rights! The right to vote, the right to sit in the front of the bus, and to drink water from a drinking fountain! And now some are calling them to arms if Obama is reelected!

We don’t need another President Bush for President.
