Donald Rumsfeld’s Real Rules

January 10, 2013 6:54 pm Category: Memo Pad 21 Comments A+ / A-

Former Secretary of Defense and renowned poet Donald Rumsfeld has decided that America is in dire need of his wisdom. Later this year, he’ll release Rumsfeld’s Rules, a book that collects his sage advice, offering “a candid take on success, failure, crises and moving up in business and government.”

Rummy famously said, “If you are not criticized, you may not be doing much.”

Or you may have invaded the wrong country resulting in the deaths of 4,000 U.S. soldiers and as many as 100,000 civilians while letting Osama bin Laden escape.

To save you a few bucks, here are few classic Rumsfeldian pearls of wisdom you should know by heart:

Even ‘Moderate’ Republicans Are Bent On Sabotage

Scott Brown is a Veep character who thinks he’s on House of Cards. After becoming the first Republican elected in the Tea Party wave of 2010, his greatest accomplishment as a U.S. senator was helping banks rewrite Wall Street reform so it might protect “two financial institutions in Massachusetts from the Volcker Rule’s restrictions,” according to former

The Entire GOP Agenda Is A Talking Point Designed To Mislead The American People

The GOP’s latest #Benghazi smoking gun revealed earlier this week illuminated two #shocking details. First of all, the White House and the CIA agreed on their talking points in the immediate wake of the tragedy of the deaths of four Americans at a CIA outpost in Libya. Secondly, government officials sometimes may use talking points

Can The GOP Save Itself From The Desire To Make A Hero Of Cliven Bundy?

Even after he suggested that black people were better off under slavery, Cliven Bundy probably could still be elected to the House of Representatives in certain districts, if he were the Republican nominee. Safe House districts, a generous Senate map that forces Democrats to defend seven seats in states Mitt Romney won, and a president

This is not a political comment. The comment by Rumsfeld about knowledge is correct, though much maligned. There are three classes of knowledge. We obviously know what we know. There are things that we know we don’t know, like whether Iran has any fully enriched uranium yet.

The third class of knowledge is tougher. To explain you have to use something recently discovered to elucidate what was previously unknown and unsought. Radioactivity comes to mind. We understand it today, but prior to the 1850s it was unknown. Since there was no need of it to explain everything we thought important, we also didn’t know to look for it. The age of the earth was computed by Lord Kelvin (then the top physicist in England) using thermodynamics and an internal coal fire as the heat source. In short, we didn’t have an inkling that another heat source much more powerful than anything we knew of existed. More succinctly, we didn’t know what we didn’t know.

    What is the meaning of

“Oh, Lord. I didn’t mean to say anything quotable.”

When he said you go to war with the army you have not the one you want. Tell that to the parents who lost their sons & daughters because you sent them to war ill prepared. Parents were buying better better headgear, vest & metal to shore up the vehicles that weren’t built for war. Should anyone buy this book, all proceeds should go to these people.

I agree this bastard along with G. Bush, Cheney, Bolton, Rove, and a couple of others should all have to stand trial for lying to the American people, involving us in two wars built on lies, claiming Iraq had weapons of mass destruction as justification for the war causing the lives of 4000 of our troups and 40,000 injured and mained for life, the destruction of Iraq and the killing hundreds of thousands of it’s citizen plus the cost we have borne stated as billions of dollars which we are resposible for and now they are going around the country making blood money off the backs of our boys, writing books yes they all should go to jail for a long time as an example to others as for writing books they should do to them the same as they do famous criminels any funds they make should be spread among the families of the troups who gave up their lives for our countrythe created all this mess and now they are looking to profit from it no Sir it there truly is a God above it should not be permitted.

Guess that includes Clinton and Gore who also backed W’s actions. Lets remember that W inherited a gutted CIA and hollow Military from Clinton.

In my openion he’s another unindicted murderer from the Cheney…er I mean, Bush White House. Not only did he hlp give us the Iraq and Ahghanistan Wars (unpaid for of course), under false pretenses, he also gave us the poison of aspertame…..As head of Monsanto years ago he got the FDA approval of aspartame rammed through despite misgivings about its safety…….Ah—better lviing through lies.

OHHHH> You shouldn’t talk about your fellow republicans like that!

  • bchrista

Well onedonewong once again you have shown your ass speaking on a subject you don’t know shit about, Your claim that Clinton and Gore gutted the cia and the military is correct but the reason you don’t understand puzzles me, the whole world knows any body with an inkling of sense knows yet you and others like you refuse to accept the facts even if it hit you between your eyes. To start with Republicans are War Mongers they love to start a war but it’s up to the Democrats to clean up the mess they create. It’s been that way ever since the Republic was created, how do you think most of them made their fortunes te rest inherited theirs from Daddy and they either stoe or inherited from their Daddy you can bet your ass 98-99% was illgained now back to your comment that Clinton and Gore gutted the Cia and the Military you’re correct, but the reason for that was Clinton was mopping up the remains of a previous setto that was started by a Republican administration and we nolonger needed a monstrous military or cia so he was cutting wasteful spending but for the love of me I don’t get it Republicans are now happy unless there is a war going on they don’t give a fuck who their fighting so long as there’s a war, they have got this down to a “T” seems like everytime there’s a war they get richer and the poor get poorer Bush and Cheney were good at this they inlisted a company called Haliburton to lend a hand, and to this day no one has been able to explain how several Billion dollars disappeared and where to and friend before you make a comment check the facts. you see Republicans have it down perfect no war no profit in fact their main bitch about Obama’s economic cuts includes a large cut in defense spending I think the Defense budget is at an all time high of 700billion and they want to include several hundred more billions pray tell me who the fuck are we going to fight next I thought we were winding down a war nowin afgahan am I wrong what do we need a military that large for with the weapons that we possess now we can wipe any country off the face of the Earth and not need a human being to go there so pray tell me why do we need a 1000 billion military for, Aha the 2% don’t have enough money yet those greddy bastards will never get enough and remember the foot soldiers are our sons and daughters because you will never see theirs in uniform not because they are cowards but because their parents will protect them no matter how much it costs, they’ll be sent overseas to study so people think about an unfair world and the haves protest because we are trying to level the playing field.
