Despite No Evidence, Trump Stands By Outrageously False Voter Fraud Belief

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump stands by his belief that millions of people voted illegally in the U.S. election, the White House said on Tuesday, despite widespread evidence to the contrary.

“The president does believe that,” White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters.

State officials in charge of the Nov. 8 election have said they found no evidence of widespread voter fraud and there is no history of it in U.S. elections. Even House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, the most senior Republican in Congress, said he had seen no evidence to back up Trump’s claims.

Republican Trump won the Electoral College that decides the presidency and gives smaller states more clout in the outcome, but he lost the popular vote to Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by about 2.9 million.

Trump has repeatedly said he would have won the popular vote, too, but for voter fraud. He has never substantiated his claim.

The comments were the latest in a series of distractions in the opening days of the Trump administration that run the risk of overshadowing his legislative goals and efforts to advance policy proposals.

On Saturday, the day after his inauguration as the 45th president of the United States, Trump complained about media coverage of the crowds that attended his swearing-in ceremony and described journalists as “among the most dishonest people on Earth.”

Evidence?! Who needs evidence when you have Trump’s word for it? After all, he has all the best words, right? If you don’t believe me, just ask him….he’ll tell you all about it!

    1. dbtheonly January 25, 2017

And the Department of Truth. Just watch Fox and Truth any morning.

      1. Mama Bear January 25, 2017

watch Fox Entertainment? I would rather have the flu….or a broken leg…or about a zillion other things that I have never wanted.

        1. dbtheonly January 25, 2017

Haven’t you seen it? Some of our resident trolls refuse to accept anything that doesn’t appear on Fox and accept as Gospel anything that does.

          1. Mama Bear January 25, 2017

I have seen it…sitting in the car dealership waiting for my car repairs….but only because it was raining torrentially outside and I had to stay inside and the gal at the desk refused to change the channel. I went into the new car showroom and sat in a car until I was chased out…then sat at a salesman’s desk until he came to work…it was horrible and I really did give a lot of thought to just going outside…:)

          2. jmprint January 25, 2017

I had a similar incident. On Friday I refused to watch the inauguration, but because I was in the emergency waiting room for my granddaughter, I was forced to listen to it, I was so nauseated, I thought I would be next in getting a room in the hospital.

          3. Mama Bear January 25, 2017

I feel ya’ ….it makes me literally ill to hear his voice or see his face. I once sat on a plane next to a missionary who worked in some dark place, can’t recall the name of it. He spoke of evil and I asked him “how do you know when you are in the presence of evil?” He said “you will feel it in your stomach, the nausea will make you want to vomit” I know a lot of people scoff at the concept of a truly evil person, but I don’t.

          4. dbtheonly January 25, 2017

            Grandaughter okay?

          5. jmprint January 26, 2017

Yes thank you for asking, she had her appendicitis removed, she is recovering and loving the attention.

          6. neeceoooo January 25, 2017

You must live in a red state like I do, going to the doctors office, that is all you see.

          7. Mama Bear January 25, 2017

            Ohio. Very red.

          8. Tom S January 25, 2017

Actually, OH has been often Blue. But, Dems have screwed up the Message for the past 4 Elections. Now, even the best of People are lost.

          9. Mama Bear January 26, 2017

Ohio has been overtaken by rural white racist homophobic misogynist anti-semitic xenophobic uneducated people looking for someone to blame for the loss of their coal/rubber/auto/steel mill jobs.

          10. neeceoooo January 26, 2017

I think it has more do to with gerrymandering.

          11. dbtheonly January 25, 2017

It’s a DOCTORS OFFICE. Of course they want you to feel sick.

          12. dbtheonly January 25, 2017

To my mind, it’s about Trump controlling the message. He will use his alternate facts and sycophantic “news” services to send only the message he wants us to hear.

But as I’ve said the inability to agree on reality has me questioning the very existence of participatory democracy.

Pence is not a step up in my mind. Trump, in his randomness, can do beneficial things. Pence reminds me of Grand Moff Tarkin.

When do you head to NM? Let me know how you like it.

          13. Tom S January 25, 2017

          14. dbtheonly January 26, 2017

            Any idea of how?

          15. Mama Bear January 26, 2017

CIA knows a hundred ways to do it. Don’t you think that’s why Trumpie tried to make peace with them? Never forget Margaret Mitchell.

          16. dbtheonly January 26, 2017

            Margaret Mitchell, the Writer?
Martha Mitchell, the wife of the head of Nixon’s reelection campaign?

I’m afraid I’ve forgotten. Or never knew in the first place. Never underestimate my ignorance.

If you’re referencing the CIA attempts to assassinate Fidel Castro, I’d point out that he died recently at the age of 90. Putin seems much more adept at assassination.

Trump’s health reports, like his taxes, remain hidden. It’s hard not to speculate.

Perhaps Trump thinks the CIA has the “pee-pee tape”. On one hand the eroticism of watching women urinate escapes me entirely. On the other hand we’ve heard Trump boasting that his power and money allow him wide latitude for sexual escapades. Could the tape be any worse?

          17. Mama Bear January 26, 2017

I am referring to Martha Mitchell, John Mitchell’s wife (Nixon’s Attorney General). She discovered everything and was going to expose it when she suddenly died in a small plane crash that her husband mysteriously was pulled from just before take-off. You are likely too young to remember it. I will dig out some info and let you know details.
Regarding the “latitude” of Trump’s sexual escapades – it can be a whole lot worse than just the “golden shower” thing.

          18. dbtheonly January 26, 2017

I thought she’d died of cancer in the mid-70s.

I’m inclined to agree with Ms. E, that they’ve got something criminal on him. Sexual Predator, con man, tax cheat, we’ve seen that already.

          19. Mama Bear January 26, 2017

I must apologize and stand corrected. It was not Martha Mitchell, it was the wife of E. Howard Hunt.

          20. dbtheonly January 26, 2017

Don’t apologize, Mama, with your friends you don’t need to; and your enemies will never believe you anyhow.

          21. Mama Bear January 26, 2017

I have been musing over my error….actually I would have bet on Martha Mitchell:) It is funny how memories can become entwined and confused. A very good lesson. In 1972, at 24 I had voted for the first time – and for Nixon, because I am from a very conservative family. I was in rapt horror at what he did and followed it very closely. I have read that our memories get hijacked after many years and I am here to attest to that!

          22. dbtheonly January 26, 2017

            We love our Mama.

But the kids today don’t even recognize the Plumers.

      2. jmprint January 25, 2017

        And then there’s alternative truth.

  2. FireBaron January 25, 2017

Part of the problem is his narcissism. He cannot contemplate the fact that there are people out there who do not like him and would never vote for him. If he were as popular and loved as he believes himself to be he would have won the popular vote by a greater margin than Barak Obama did. As it is, at least he got more votes than the last GOP President.

    1. Tom S January 25, 2017

Yet, even at that, if the Election were held today, he would lose even more bigly as about 25% of those who voted for him would no longer after seeing his post Election behavior.

    2. Mama Bear January 25, 2017

His narcissism – and this is the way the disorder works – has created a “false” ego and anything that counters that construct must be destroyed.

      1. Tom S January 25, 2017

  4. itsfun January 25, 2017

The President wants to investigate illegals voting, dead people voting, people voting more than once, people that are registered to vote in more than one state. If there is voter fraud, then this will expose it. If there is not voter fraud, then the issue hopefully will go away.

    1. Chuckl8 January 25, 2017

It has already been investigated, more than once. The numbers of actual illegally cast votes were amazingly small. While some fraudulent voter registration cases have happened, only a handful of illegal votes have been cast in modern US elections. The research is available online. Here’s one sourced comment:

“There is no documented wave or trend of individuals voting multiple times, voting as someone else, or voting despite knowing that they are ineligible. Indeed, evidence from the microscopically scrutinized 2004 gubernatorial election in Washington State actually reveals just the opposite: though voter fraud does happen, it happens approximately 0.0009% of the time. The similarly closely-analyzed 2004 election in Ohio revealed a voter fraud rate of 0.00004%. National Weather Service data shows that Americans are struck and killed by lightning about as often.”

Source: Brennan Center for Justice, New York University School of Law.

      1. InGen12 January 25, 2017

There have been only 4 DOCUMENTED cases of voter fraud – and 2 of those voted twice for Drumpf!

        1. Tom S January 25, 2017

Actually, it’s is worse than that. One California GNoP Central Committee member voted for Drumpf in 5 locations in California and 2 in Nevada.

Yep, #CrazyDonald, you need a Psych or Meds.

      2. itsfun January 25, 2017

Why is the left so afraid of an investigation by someone other than a leftist institution?

        1. iamproteus January 25, 2017

Why is the right so insistent that there MUST be voter fraud when their guy wins? Hmmmm.

          1. itsfun January 26, 2017

One reason may be the recount attempt in Michigan. In Wayne county alone the recount had to be stopped because the official ballot counts and the actual number of ballots differed.

        2. jmprint January 25, 2017

Where do you get afraid from. I dare him to investigate an honest investigation.

          1. itsfun January 26, 2017

I also want a honest investigation.

        3. Tom S January 25, 2017

Why do repugliecons have to arbitrarily de-register Voters on no evidence? Or spoil their Ballots?
Why do they have to rig the count in States like MI, WI, NC, FL, and OH?

#Trumposity did not win either the Popular nor Electoral battle in the Real World of Math.

          1. itsfun January 26, 2017

What kind of math are you using? Trump won over 300 electoral college votes. How many did Hillary win. The electoral college is the way we have elected a President forever. Just how did anybody spoil any ballots? Did you see the recount results? President Trump gained votes.

          2. Tom S January 26, 2017

Real Math where ALL Democratic Votes were Counted in MI, WI & NC.
No one saw the recount results because the recount could not be completed.

          3. itsfun January 27, 2017

The Wisconsin recount was completed and President Trump gained votes. The recount in Michigan was stopped because one of the largest counties in Michigan (a Democratic stronghold) had more ballots then the official count of ballots. In Pennsylvania there was no recall because the person requesting the recount didn’t have even 2% of the vote and had no chance of changing the results. Any more of your “real math”?

          4. Tom S January 27, 2017

its, you haven’t been paying attention to REAL News. Yours is far from the story Dr Stein and reporters relate. It was a steal in WI & MI, and probably NC. The battle is still on-going in PA because the touchscreen voting “machines” were made by a Republican contributor’s company and provide little audit trail. Court date 1 coming up.
Next up: OH and FL both serial offenders with priors.

          5. itsfun January 27, 2017

          7. itsfun January 28, 2017

Not going to happen unless the Republicans don’t want to get re-elected.

        4. Chuckl8 January 26, 2017

I don’t care if the investigation is done by the Easter Bunny, as long as it’s honest and as complete as possible. As you have already seen, but choose to ignore, the actual number of voting fraud cases is tiny.

          1. itsfun January 26, 2017

Maybe the numbers you are referring to were done by the Easter Bunny, or Santa, the Tooth Fairy.

          2. Chuckl8 January 26, 2017

No, they were done by actual, educated and certified scientists. But I’m sure you are convinced that you and all your Trump-loving friends are much, much smarter than anyone else, right? You have all the answers, even if you have to make them up.

          3. itsfun January 27, 2017

You are the one that brought up the Easter Bunny! WE won’t be paying for the import tax the Mexicans will. It will cost them an additional 30% to send their stuff here. A tax is just one of the options the administration is looking into. Nothing has been done yet. m

          4. Chuckl8 January 27, 2017

Dear gawd, … “WE won’t be paying for the import tax the Mexicans will.” … You have to be joking. The BUYER will pay that extra 30%, NOT the SELLER!

Much of what is imported from Mexico is seasonal, highly perishable produce, that cannot be grown here out of season. There is no “local competition.” So, the Mexican sellers will just add that tax to the price that WE PAY.

Besides that, if Trump kicks out the cheap labor that our farmers need to keep our prices down, the cost imbalance will grow even larger. So, enjoy your five dollar head of lettuce, … if you can find one that cheap.

But, you’re smart, so you already know all that, right?

PS: The best way to find the dumbest person in the room is to wait until someone says they are the smartest person in the room.

          5. itsfun January 27, 2017

I know enough not to pay a ridiculous amount for something I don’t have to buy.

          6. itsfun January 27, 2017

BS. Only thing you have right is I am smarter than you, but then again so is the tree in my front yard.

          7. Chuckl8 January 27, 2017

Here are some numbers for you, Itsfun. Trump says he may add a 30% tax on imports from Mexico, in order to fulfill his promise to “make Mexico pay for the wall.”

Great idea, right? Except for one slight problem; …If the wall will be paid for with a 30% tax on Mexican imports to the USA, then WE will be paying for the wall, and not Mexico.

  5. Tom S January 25, 2017

#LyingDonald, you know, somewhere in your deranged self, that you lost the Popular Vote, and would have lost the Electoral Vote if all Democratic Votes in MI, WI, NC, and undoubtedly in FL & OH had been allowed to be cast, and all of those cast Counted.

Face it, #LyingDonald, you are a Minority President with NO Mandate because there are not nearly enough Trumpanzees to make you a Majority President.

Thankfully, there are some still rather sane GNoPpers who saw your bizarreness coming and started planning your Impeachment before Thanksgiving. When it comes, I suspect it will come quickly.

    1. Chuckl8 January 25, 2017

      Nice. Extra points for “Trumpanzees.”

      1. Tom S January 25, 2017

Thanks, but I cannot take credit for the coinage. But, I do love to use it in the Planet of the Apes Reality we find ourselves in.

        1. Chuckl8 January 25, 2017

You get to keep the extra points, just for being very un-Trump-like and not taking credit for something someone else did, and openly admitting it. I’m afraid that’s something we’ll never hear from the orange-faced freak in the Oval Office.

          1. Tom S January 26, 2017

He invented the printing press and TV camera, you know. And, they are Wonderful,,, really great,,, bigly.

It is very hard, still, to read your last phrase. I think of the “Star Trek” episode in which Kirk, Spock, et al., dropped into an “alternative Earth” in which the Nazis had taken over the US.

  6. Dan S January 25, 2017

It’s the Unicorns that stole the popular vote from Trump. That’s about as plausible that over 5 Million illegals voted in a state that always goes for the Democrat everytime. If you’re going to be somewhat credible at least cite a swing state like Florida that voted illegally ????

    1. Tom S January 25, 2017

      FL simply Counted illegally.

  7. 1Zoe55 January 25, 2017

Trump’s huge ego but small mind just cannot accept the fact that more than 2.9 million people voted against him. Trump wants an investigation into what he claims is voter fraud. Because of this travesty of smaller states having more clout than the larger and more populated ones, I am against the Electoral College deciding our presidential elections. It was the Supreme Court’s decision that gave us George W. Bush, a decision that allowed another incompetent man to almost bankrupt America. We are now left with Trump, one of the most vulgar and stupid con men in the world whose exaggerations about his wealth (and other body parts) is disgusting.

    1. iamproteus January 25, 2017

Actually, significantly more than 2.9 million voted against trump. They just didn’t vote for Hillary.

      1. Mama Bear January 25, 2017

        Great point!

      2. Tom S January 25, 2017

Just to underscore for “alternative facts” Drumpf and friends,
Nothing was voted for “loud and clear” except for “Not Trump”,
i.e, NO MANDATE you “alternative facts” Nazis!

    2. neeceoooo January 25, 2017

and how much is it going to cost the United States to pay for the investigation.

    3. Tom S January 25, 2017

      “One man, one Vote”??
      How can a Kerleefurnyan’s Vote be worth 1/300th of a Wyomingan’s Vote?
Wasn’t the Electoral College the trade off for bringing Slave States into the Union in the 18th Century?
Wasn’t Slavery abolished by Constitutional Amendment?
Didn’t the Confederate States loose the “War of Northern Aggression”?
Then, WHY does the Electoral College still exist?

      1. dbtheonly January 26, 2017

The Senate and the Electoral College was the compromise that brought small States, like Delaware, Rhode Island, and Connecticut into the Union. The USA, United States, don’t you know, is a Federal Union. Why should Wyoming and California both get two Senators? Because it is a union of the States.

The 3/5 rule was the sop to slavery. But, looking around, are you sure the Yankees won?

  8. FT66 January 25, 2017

Get this Trump. There are more dems than republicans voters, this can explain where popular votes are coming from. Is this difficult for you to understand?

  9. dbtheonly January 25, 2017

Let Despicable Donald and the Republicans spend 4 years investigating voter fraud.

Keeps them from doing anything more harmful.

its suggests the issue will go away after an investigation. I doubt it. There were 8 Benghazi investigations with no result beyond the employment of the investigators. Voter Fraud is no different. Besides Despicable Donald has a personal interest here.

Write your representatives, we must demand a MAJOR investigation into this alleged voter fraud – I am serious. Any American who stands by and does not demand an investigation is un-American. Bring out all this evidence and let’s get to the bottom of it and fix it. Yes, I know it’s only in his mind and has been denounced, but ….let’s get an investigation and shove it in his pathetic orange face.

    1. iamproteus January 25, 2017

Eight (or was it nine?) republican led Bengazi investigations didn’t settle anything as far as they are concerned. I doubt that this would be any different. There is no reasoning with a hungry dog with a bone!

  13. jmprint January 25, 2017

Yep I’m for an investigation, I want to know how some didn’t get to vote, they were turned away with an explanation of they had already voted, that means fraud at local level. I bet it turns out he didn’t even win the electoral vote. He didn’t win the election, it was given to him.

    1. InformedVoter January 26, 2017

Hello racist and bigot: during the recount in Michigan, they found thousands of illegal votes for HiLIARy in Detroit. In 38% of the Detroit precincts (the others were not counted when the courts stopped the illegal recount) HilLIARy received more votes than there were registered voters! Duh, how could that happen? Two of the precinct leaders explained they wanted to get the votes counted by 8 PM, so they just logged numbers as being official and didn’t ever think they would get a recount request. These two said they’ve been plugging numbers for the Dems for many elections! Yup, no fraud here, move along.

      1. iamproteus January 26, 2017

Please provide citations for that claim. I have not seen anything about that in the media and I would like to see it for myself rather than take anyone’s (possibly biased) word for it. Thank you in advance.

        1. InformedVoter January 26, 2017

There were several articles in the Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press when the recount was started. For a recount, the number of votes cast must match the number of voters. In all the cases, the number of votes cast for HilLIARy was greater than the number of votes cast. And that didn’t count the number of votes for the other candidates.
You’re problem is only viewing biased links and sources.

          1. iamproteus January 27, 2017

According to your source, Detroit News :
“In Detroit, 158 of the 392 precincts with ballot discrepancies had just one extra ballot accounted for either in the poll book or in the ballot box, according to the Wayne County’s canvassing report.

For suburban Wayne County, 72 percent of the 218 precincts boxes with discrepancies in the number of ballots were off by one ballot.”

“The other ballot discrepancies in Detroit and Wayne County precincts ranged between two and five ballots, according to the report.”

One to five ballot discrepancies? BFD! Not to mention the fact that those were NOT just votes for Hillary…it was for the overall vote.

Daniel Baxter, elections director for the city of Detroit “blamed the discrepancies on the city’s decade-old voting machines, saying 87 optical scanners broke on Election Day. Many jammed when voters fed ballots into scanners, which can result in erroneous vote counts if ballots are inserted multiple times.”

It seems that your spin is disingenuous at best. No surprise there!

You only stated part of the truth. Even the liberal Detroit Free Press used the “tremendous mismatch in voting results” as their claim that the voting machines needed to be replaced.
You didn’t touch on the two precincts that had the count sheet showing HiLIARy with 750 votes, the ballot box contained only 50 ballots, and the precinct register only had 738 registered voters.
You also didn’t mention that 30% of the precincts would not have had their votes changed if the recount had continued because of “gross discrepancies between the numbers in the voter registry, the number of votes cast (greater than the register number) and improper seals on the ballot boxes”. These “stuffed” ballot boxes all had large numbers of votes for HilLIARy and the precinct leaders claimed they have used the same processes and procedures for many elections.
I’m not claiming that President Trump would have received MILLIONS more votes, but certainly the number would be in the thousands.
You claim BFD, but if Detroit is off by thousands, the other cities in other states that all claim there were illegal ballots cast, certainly could well add up to be in the millions.
The simple fact is that IF you exclude CA, the President Trump WON the popular vote by 1.5 million!
This is one of the reasons the EC was put into place. Also, if you look at the popular vote map, you will see pockets or large urban areas voting Dem while the rest of the state and country voted GOP. Thank God for the EC.

“…”but if Detroit is off by thousands……”
            “….IF you exclude CA…….”
            “….if your aunt had balls…..”

OK, BECAUSE it has been PROVEN that voter fraud did occur and in favor of HilLIARy in Detroit, it means that Trump won MI by more than 10704 votes.
BECAUSE HilLIARy won CA by more than 4.5 million votes BECAUSE of the millions of illegal votes, THAT PRESIDENT TRUMP ACTUALLY WON THE POPULAR VOTE!
I could care less about your aunt, you know the one that had the sex change operation but didn’t have the courage to have her balls cut off. Sort of sounds like you doesn’t it?
So ONCE MORE Trump made another statement that the MSM ridiculed, but turned out to be true!
