How did these guys move back into main stream politics. The Newtster was stripped of his roll as speaker of the house and run out of town on a rail and Ron Paul is a barely disguised racist that published hate diatribes for years in the 80s and nineties. How did these guys ever gain enough credibility to be taken seriously in a run for the highest office in the country. It says a lot about the lack of a reasonable candidate on the Rethuglican side of the roster.
Ron Paul and the libertarian’s, Newt and the far right fanatics along with just about every repub, are little more than egomaniacs. The expouse the me, I, mine bull at a constant pace. Why wouldn’t they want to help out the truly poor, instead of calling them names and demonizing them. Because all they care about is themselves. TRULY! Americans are so afraid to use the word ego, that they have let this egotistical sillyness and the people who expouse it off the hook. Too BAB!
You noted, “Actually, Iran and al Qaeda are bitter enemies. Otherwise, Paul’s on target. He also pointed out that the U.S. and Iran haven’t been at war since 1979, as Santorum asserted, but since 1953, when a CIA-sponsored coup overthrew Iran’s elected government and installed the corrupt, dictatorial Shah. For all the current regime’s brutality, that historical grievance is why attacking Iran would only strengthen the Ayatollahs.”
Ok, the Shah of Iran (regardless of how his father came to be the Shah, and lets face it that “CIA” stuff was not unilateral, but part of the Cold War) was our ally – I went to Navy “A” school with several of his troops during the late 1970’s. How could I have done this if we were “at war” with Iran? Face it Santorum was actually correct with his date from 1979, so please don’t gerrymander the facts; your spin is enough without this wobbling.
History has shown the US to be the most compassionate country with exemplary military might in the history of the world.
I agree with Paul, it’s time we come home. Only when people in these countries unite to overthrow their corrupt leaders, will those countries become anything resembling domocracies. To hope for true republics would be a better thing, but it’s mostly semantics.
We are squandering our children’s inheiritances with this military-industrial complex. Maybe we could have our manufacturing and agricultural industries lead the way to a better world. Defend our own borders. Quit thinking we can print money to “buy” friendships. Think of family values, and raise our kids to be adventurous, not litigy-seeking thieving bums. With our military might, it is virtually impossible to attack us with anything other than terrorists. Simply do what we did with Japanese descendents in wwII, round them all up. That’s the only practical way to do this. Secure our borders. While it’s true we are a melting pot, we can’t have a hole in the bottom and expect to cook anything. We have all these concentration “fema” camps, let’s use them. Deport when necessary. Accept no foreign incoming flights. To hell with wanting to squander a resource as finite as oil to see in person what a glimpse on the internet can show, usually much better!!!!
Social class is bringing the downfall of our country, everybody wants to think they are :better: than their neighbor because they were more willing to go in hawk up to their eyebrows to prove their point. Then of course, join a union to forcefully extract an undue pittance. Gang up against the company, that has become the american way. Then badmouth the company when they move to china, and while badmouthing the company, buy those chinese goods, because with only unemployment income and government excessive taxation to make sure everyone in government gets whatever their little hearts desire…….while the hardest working takes the hit, then steal their children’s money, then their grandchildren’s money, all the public employees still demanding more…….We are for some reason standing by and watching our nation decline to nothing more than bums with their hand out for something for nothing……but it’s not nothing, it’s the loss of our nation. Eberybody wants to condemn Ron Paul, but he is the only candidate who sees things as they are, and does not stand there espousing aspirational lies. Do you know how much 100 trillion dollars is? That’s what we’re on the hook for. And many americans in their loss of common sense supports candidates who want to keep this burgeoning overbearing bunch of bums in that we have at this time. What ever happened to having testicles? We have mostly a bunch of whining babies running for president. How in the world can this be?
Rick Santorum is a monkey wrench thrown in to break up the success and pull of Ron Paul, the second Rupert Murdoch and Fox revealed itself to endorse him is when the parameters changed. Ron Paul is a serious threat to Democrats and I doubted G.W.Bush is/was going to do anything but find ways to get rid of him.
Santorum is a good card to play for some in politics, he will lose in a general based on his complete ignorance to homosexuals, and he adds fervor to those whom are gay whom get involved with politics,,,,,,and that as I can tell this time come election ALOT ALOT of people are NOT planning to vote. The country is primed for revolution and finally Americans have the freedom to express their discontent with government and so forth, Ron Paul does nothing but exemplify this.
… but those who know? Paul is living in a past where the present confuses. He makes sense – to those equally confused & unaware. This explains his considerable following, but is no excuse for their vacancy. There’s far too much information and knowledge to be lured into thinking we can go backwards & still enjoy success. This is what Paul’s calling for. Pitifully, the very old & the very ignorantly young, comprise his supporters. But if they all would just read – the Constitution, the Federalist Papers & an excellent book, “Certain Trumpets”, by Gary Wills, it will start to make sense, this Democracy thing & the necessity of its advancement & expansion & the need to be enlightened, by way of engagement. Altho he has no chance of winning, his “ideas” are responsible for the confusion which will lead voters to the more palatable “madness” that remains among his “confederates”…
