Mike Cernovich, Original MAGA Influencer And Pizzagate Promoter, Turns On Trump

Mike Cernovich, Original MAGA Influencer And Pizzagate Promoter, Turns On Trump

President Donald Trump is losing many once-staunch members of his right-wing base because they view him as “a lame duck and a loser,” according to a conservative commentator.

“Mike Cernovich is not just one of the original MAGA influencers, he’s arguably a paradigm case—the ever-active operative/influencer who just won’t stop coming up with crazy new ideas,” wrote The Bulwark’s Will Sommer on Monday.

Describing Cernovich’s evolution from a manosphere influencer in the early 2010s to a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist in 2016, Sommer pointed out that Cernovich in November described Trump’s D.C. “as a city consumed by corruption, with Trump appointees filling their pockets with impunity.” He added that Cernovich himself commented, “During recent visit in DC, the talk of everyone was how overt the corruption was. It’s at levels you read about in history books. In nearly every department. Lots of, ‘Do people just think Democrats will never win and they’ll all get away with this?’” On March 25 he tweeted about big trades that seem to coincide with major Trump administration news, “It was a scandal when Hunter Biden did less than this. New MAGA does not care.”

Sommer noted that Cernovich is not only upset with corruption.

"Whatever effects the ayahuasca may have had on his mind, Cernovich’s case is interesting to me because it signifies a generational fissure breaking out within MAGA,” Sommer observed. “A massive, multi-front fight over Israel, antisemitism, and the assassination conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk has been driving much of the discontent on the right. But there is also a class of original Trumpers like Cernovich who appear to be pivoting away from the president. They are convinced that he has fallen short on his promises and have been around D.C. enough to see how unethical and corrupt the administration is acting. They also increasingly look at Trump, embattled by the Jeffrey Epstein case and the Iran war, as a lame duck and a loser.”

Cernovich is not alone among Trumpers who are turning on Trump. Earlier in March, right-wing podcaster Joe Rogan said “America is great. Make America greater? I’m down. But Make America Great Again, and then it becomes a movement of a bunch of dorks. A lot of them are these really weird, f------ uninteresting, unintelligent people who have got something that they cling to.”

Shortly after Trump invaded Iran, Rogan described the war as “crazy” and the president’s supporters as having been “betrayed,” adding, “He ran on no more wars: End these stupid, senseless wars. And then we have one that we can’t even really clearly define why we did it.”

On Monday The Bulwark’s managing editor Sam Stein told MS NOW that Trump is “losing control” of his own movement.

“I think the risk for Trump here is twofold,” Stein told MS NOW host Katy Tur referring to both Rogan and another right-wing podcaster who has recently turned on Trump, Andrew Schulz.

“These are the podcasts that were gateways to a whole slice of the electorate that was just politically curious — not politically active — but they did get involved in 2024, and they got involved largely on behalf of Donald Trump,” Stein said. “Andrew Schulz, Rogan, and others activated them. But the other risk is that they're now potentially turning Donald Trump into a cultural punchline — that he's an idiot, that his supporters are dorks, that he's been fooled into doing all this stuff, and that he is a failure.”

He added, “Donald Trump, for better or for worse, has had an incredible ability to shape perceptions of himself and the cultural relevance that he has. And to a degree, he loses that control when these people turn on him — when his own supporters turn on him. That hasn't really happened in the entirety of his political career.”

Trump Hardliners Raging Over His  Expected Endorsement Of John Cornyn

Trump Hardliners Raging Over His  Expected Endorsement Of John Cornyn

Some of President Donald Trump's biggest cheerleaders are irate at reports that he will soon endorse Sen. John Cornyn over MAGA acolyte and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in Texas' GOP Senate primary. They say that Cornyn is a wolf in sheep's clothing who won't advance Trump's agenda.

Multiple right-wing podcasters and MAGA influencers begged Trump not to bow to the pleas from establishment GOP lawmakers to intervene in the May 26 Texas runoff, which both Cornyn and Paxton advanced to Tuesday night after neither received 50 percent in the primary.

"President Trump says he will soon endorse in the Texas Senate GOP race, & whoever he doesn’t endorse must drop out. Hopefully he endorses @KenPaxtonTX, because @JohnCornyn has a long record of being anti-Trump, pro-Islam, weak on illegal immigration, and anti 2A," right-wing agitator Laura Loomer—who has successfully gotten Trump to fire government employees for insufficient loyalty—wrote in a post on X.Loomer later posted a 2023 article in which Cornyn said Trump shouldn't run for president again. "John Cornyn has never been a Trump loyalist,” she added, in a clear attempt to try to stop Trump from backing Cornyn in the race.

Sara Gonzales, a host on the right-wing BlazeTV network, also urged Trump not to back Cornyn.

“I am one of your biggest supporters and I am urging you as someone who is in the Texas grassroots: do NOT endorse Cornyn,” Gonzales wrote in an X post addressed to Trump. “It will be one of your biggest mistakes. The majority of Texas voters voted AGAINST Cornyn last night. We don’t want him!”

Far-right conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich said in a post on X, “Endorsing Cornyn will be more gutting to the base than the Iran air strikes”—a nod to the “America first” crowd that felt betrayed by Trump starting yet another open-ended war in the Middle East."We finally have a real opportunity to remove a swamp rat GOP senator for his betrayals. If Trump screws that up with yet another disastrous endorsement, it will be a total scumbag move," right-wing radio host Jesse Kelly wrote in a post on X.

Even former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a MAGA supporter who has recently distanced herself from Trump, also slammed the president for trying to shut down the runoff.

"This is wrong and the people of Texas should be able to vote for WHOEVER THEY WANT!!! NOT the candidate Trump demands," Greene wrote in a post on X. "People are furious over this and if Trump does this, it could actually be the real reason Texas Senate seat flips blue. Stealing people’s opportunity to elect their leaders by force will definitely piss off voters and will lead to even more sitting it out."

Ultimately, it's unclear when Trump will make his endorsement—and if Paxton will even agree to drop out of the race.

'Woke Right' Influencers Splitting From Trump's MAGA Base Over Iran War

'Woke Right' Influencers Splitting From Trump's MAGA Base Over Iran War

There’s a difference between President Donald Trump’s core MAGA base and the influencer class that amplifies him, even if the two might seem to be one and the same.

Trump’s base has an emotional—not transactional—attachment to their idol, akin to cult-like status. Supporting him is part of their core identity. For millions of Americans, Trump isn’t just a politician, but the man who gave voice to their grievances. He symbolizes defiance against a political, economic, and cultural establishment that has financially devastated them.

It’s no accident that there is a correlation between the number of meth labs in a county and Trump support, as well as higher death rates from drugs, alcohol, and suicide.

The “bro-caster” ecosystem is different. A lot of these personalities didn’t build their brands around Trump specifically, but around outrage, anti-elite posturing, toxic masculinity, and cultural grievance. Trump just happens to be the biggest gravitational force in that universe, and handsomely rewarded by the algorithms.

Sure, some of these influencers are true believers, while others are grifters. Has there ever been an easier mark than a conservative desperate to have his or her worldview validated?

But ultimately, their ideology is mostly a vehicle toward clout. If Trump falters, influencers can pivot. His core base can’t.

We’re seeing that dynamic in real time over Iran. Trump’s core base is happily lapping up the “Trump said no new wars, but this is a limited conflict so it’s all good!” reasoning. The 30 percent deplorable MAGA base consists of the dumbest people on the planet..

We already saw some prominent Republicans speak out against Trump’s new war. Now let’s take a look at that influencer crowd, because they’re struggling.

To be clear, these are all vile humans, but they helped deliver critical votes to Trump in 2024. Losing their support matters. (And incidentally, MAGA is now calling these guys the “woke right” as they call themselves “The real America Firsters.”)

Andrew Tate is on an anti-war rampage:

Mike Cernovich has 1.4 million followers on X, and millions more elsewhere.

We don’t want Nazis like Nick Fuentes, but as a vehicle to demoralize Trump’s fanbase?

These guys have 3.5 million followers on X:

This guy has 600,000 followers on X, and 877,000 on YouTube:

Matt Walsh has 4 million followers on X:

KimDotCom has 1.7 million followers on X, and never quite understood why the deplorables love him so much. Probably because like Dear Leader, he’s a criminal.

This guy has 370,000 followers:

This guy has almost 900,000 followers on X:

I could quite literally list similar posts all day, as the examples are endless. But for now, let’s close with former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was a staunch Trump supporter until 2025:

Trump made a big deal out of stopping wars, and a bunch of morons believed him. When a key segment of your base rebels in this fashion, the consequences are sure to be enormous.

MSNBC Sides With Rape Apologist, Fires Contributor For Tweet Mocking Rape Apologists

MSNBC Sides With Rape Apologist, Fires Contributor For Tweet Mocking Rape Apologists

MSNBC reportedly cut ties with contributor Sam Seder after far-right date rape apologist Mike Cernovich spread a 2009 tweet in which Seder mocked defenders of Roman Polański, a film director charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977. MSNBC’s decision to fire Seder comes on the one year anniversary of the shooting at Comet Ping Pong, which Cernovich helped spark by relentlessly pushing the “alt-right”-fueled “pizzagate” conspiracy.

According to a December 4 report by The Wrap, MSNBC “has decided not to renew its contract with contributor Sam Seder after an old tweet emerged … brought to wide attention last month by the pro-Trump journalist and activist Mike Cernovich.”

Seder explained Cernovich’s “smear involves the willful misinterpretation of a tweet that I posted in 2009” that was criticizing rape apologists, but MSNBC sided with Cernovich, who previously asked “Have you guys ever tried ‘raping’ a girl without using force? Try it. It’s basically impossible. Date rape does not exist,” and claimed“A whore will let her friend ruin your life with a false rape case. So why should I care when women are raped?”

In a tweet, Media Matters Senior Fellow Matt Gertz added that the attacks against Seder ignored that when Seder made the satirical joke in 2009, he may have been responding to the media outlets and personalities that were inappropriately defending Polanski at the time.

The reported termination of MSNBC’s relationship with Seder comes one year after a gunman walked into Comet Ping Pong, a popular family pizza restaurant, to investigate a fringe right-wing conspiracy theory that the restaurant was a cover for a pedophilia ring. Cernovich repeatedly promoted the false claim on Twitter.

By severing ties with Seder, MSNBC has now made the same mistake that former New York Times Public Editor Liz Spayd made when she legitimized Cernovich’s harassment campaign against New York Timesreporter Sopan Deb.

MSNBC and The New York Times’ willingness to affirm a conspiratorial right-wing troll’s campaign to smear journalists and media figures sets a dangerous precedent. It threatens the credibility of serious media outlets when they choose to side with personalities like Cernovich who have a long track record of racismmisogynyconspiracy theories, and misinformation.
