Watch: America’s Mobster President—New Evidence In Dutch Documentary Of Trump’s International Money Laundering Circles

President Trump’s Manhattan properties and business partners, including former Soviet Union-connected oligarchs, were involved in a larger international money-laundering scheme involving upward of $1 billion, according to Dutch filmmakers whose third installment in an investigative series aired on public TV in Holland Wednesday.

“We wanted to know in depth how money was transferred from Kazakhstan to the United States and how this could relate to Donald Trump, the Trump Organization and Trump’s real estate,” said Sander Rietveld, director of The Dubious Friends of Donald Trump, Part III: The Multibillion-Dollar Fraud, broadcast on Zembla, a program of the VARA Broadcasting Association.

The documentary was produced based on a three-month collaborationbetween Zembla, The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP)—known for the Panama Papers, and McClatchy newspaper’s Washington bureau (including Kevin Hall, who won a Pulitzer Prize for the Panama papers).

“We investigated hundreds of company records, court documents in the U.S., Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Belize, etc., and interviewed dozens of sources,” he said. “The result is a follow-the-money documentary revealing the connections between several people in Trump’s orbit and an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud. Also the pivotal role of the Netherlands as an offshore haven gets attention. With Dutch help, Kazakh oligarchs allegedly were able to divert and launder huge amounts of money.”

One of the international financiers profiled went to court in the Netherlands on Tuesday to stop the documentary from airing on public TV, but lost, Rietveld said: “Kazakh multimillion[aire] businessman-oligarch Ilyas Khrapunov tried to block this broadcast in court yesterday (Monday). Judge turned down his request and allowed airing documentary.”

The filmmakers found that money taken out of Kazakhstan by energy oligarchs was used to buy some of Trump’s high-end Manhattan apartments and was also used to create the business partnership, called Bayrock, for Trump’s SoHo Tower project, said James Henry, a financial industry investigative reporter and editor at DCReport.org who worked with Rietveld’s team and appears in the documentary.

“The significant thing is they have got the Kazakh government saying that Bayrock was a money launderer for these guys,” Henry told AlterNet. “What is interesting, if [special counsel Robert] Mueller wants to take a look at this, is we have [Trump’s mob-connected business partner] Felix Sater laundering criminal money.”

U.S. laws such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act make it a crime to launder money tied to prior illegal acts, Henry said. The documentary, whose reporting was also developed in collaboration with McClatchy News’ Washington office, traces how investing in Trump’s Soho Tower included concealing illegal money-laundering activities. Trump did not tell other investors about any of this, as required under U.S. financial law, he said, “a continuing cover-up of money laundering.”

The program is the third installment in the series profiling Trump’s business deals with international investors that appear to have violated U.S. and foreign financial laws. The first installment focused on Trump’s Russian investors. Installment two looked at Trump family links to Kremlin-connected diamond dealers. The third installment returns to Trump’s partners in his downtown New York City project, according to its online summary.

“Will Donald Trump go down due to his dubious ties to the former Soviet Union?” Zembla’s summary says, recapping the filmmakers’ previous findings. “The president seems to be getting in deeper and deeper. Special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who is investigating if Trump colluded with Russia in order to win the elections, is also digging into Trump’s past as a businessman. In that past, one of Donald Trump’s business partners plays a crucial role: Felix Sater, a convicted felon who has ties with the Russian mafia. Last May, Zembla disclosed how an American real estate company, run by Sater, used Dutch mailbox companies within a network, which has been suspected of laundering money. Allegedly $1.5 million had been diverted. Donald Trump developed hotels and apartment complexes with this suspicious company.”

“In the last few months Zembla received indications of a greater fraud,” it continued. “A billion-dollar fraud. And here Sater, Trump’s questionable business partner shows up, as well. The money trail leads to Kazakhstan, to real estate projects in New York and again to the Netherlands. Zembla investigates: How compromising is this case for the current president of America?”

The Dutch documentary raises questions most American TV networks have not broached, Henry said. For one, what was the role of Trump ally and ex-New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who represented Sater and raised money for his presidential campaign in Kazakhstan?

Another intriguing question involved others in Trump’s orbit as a real estate magnate and president. Wilbur Ross, Trump’s commerce secretary, was vice-chairman of a bank based on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus favored by Russian oligarchs, Henry has reported. “I’m saying, ‘Let’s see Mueller do his job,’” he said. “Here’s more leads.”

Steven Rosenfeld covers national political issues for AlterNet, including America’s democracy and voting rights. And I am sure that Robert Mueller is following the money.

I’m eager to see what trick Trump will pull off when he and ONLY he has to testify under oath to Mueller in the Special investigation. This is the one time when only he has to do the talking and answer the questions.

That’s why he wanted the lawyer who defended Russia’s “Alfa Bank.” Trump figures that will throw a monkey wrench into the Special investigation and Brian Benczkowsk as the newly appointee to the Criminal Division of the DOJ.

      1. dpaano September 29, 2017

That is unless he decides at the last minute to fire Mueller….it won’t look good for him, but he’ll do it anyway because he just doesn’t give a darn because “he’s president.”

        1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

That’s why Trump is using more covert sabotage. He has no power to fire Mueller. According to Code of Federal Regulations, (CFR) No president who is connected to basis of the investigation can fire the special counsel or special prosecutor. That law was implemented when Nixon pulled that when he fired AG Archibald Cox and then fired his replacement. It didn’t matter. No president is above the law. What happened when Nixon fired both of the chief investigators was that it by passed the DOJ Nixon appointee and went to a Congressional ethics group whose name I cannot recall.

Dozens of legal minds in the US have said if Trump dares fire Mueller, Trump sets himself up impeachment for obstructing justice.

Apparently, if a president is guilty of a crime, this other group is relegated with the duty to indict, make the case before the SC and then see that a trial is held. Assuming Trump doesn’t pull a Nixon and resign in disgrace.

Right now, Trump is riding high in his saddle, hedging the bet he can get away with this entire mess like he did that rape case in Florida and the money laundering here in NJ.

The worst thing the government does is allow white collar criminals like Trump to pay their way out of prison.

Is our indifference to Trump’s personal record motivated by denial, or have our values dropped to the point of being non-existent?

A valid question, and a crucial one. Something is more amiss in America than any of us previously thought. We knew something was wrong, but the pace of life and a focus on material pursuits has deadened the senses of so many to the point that abnormality is considered as normal as the rising and the setting of the sun.

    2. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

When a political party becomes like a tyrannical regime who refuses to stop a mobster like Trump, nominates an attorney who defended Russia’s AltNews group and the Republicans approve his appointment to the Criminal Justice Department Division, you know what the Republicans are doing: sabotaging for as long as they can the cover up of their part in election rigging.

Then, there is the appointment of Tom Price, HHS head, whose shady past included firing Preet Bharara because Bharara had Price under investigation, not to mention Price’s ridiculous comments about rape, not to mention he totally has NO background in health OR human services, this all comes down to the Republicans allowing criminals to run the government so the Good Ole Boys can fly under the legal radar of US laws.

How disgusting is it to have a First Lady who sold herself for money and posed nude and is now trying to launder her past?

How obscene is it to allow a mobster like Trump who paid his way past a FinCEN money laundering conviction and went right back to doing it again with Russian money at Deutschebank? Funny thing about that. Deutschebank ended up with a $320 million fine for laundering Russian money. Trump? He gets off like always.

Not for much longer. All that BS about how money passing hands between Trump Organization and the Russian government was legal beause it was “just business” is exactly what other CEOs like Trump ALL do and get away with it and have for too too long.

  3. Aaron_of_Portsmouth September 29, 2017

Since the advent of Trump’s birth, and the dereliction of his dad and grandfather, Truth being stranger than fiction has taken on a new meaning.

If Trump isn’t locked up, or at the very least, put on public trial and censured, then it would be a mockery of Justice, and make Congress and Trump supporters co-conspirators in an unheard of series of events of epic criminal behavior and systematic deceit.
“All the President’s Men” couldn’t hold a candle to the levels of depravity and wide-spread deception and immorality committed by FOX, Trump and Company, the GOP and its machinery, Big Business associates—the list goes on.

One has to wonder if Trump is a lead role in some interstellar drama, where some culture evolved motivated solely by an amoral code of behavior, decided to use earth as a setting for filming, and picked out Trump and Putin as co-stars via some telepathic suggestions.

From the beginning of him running for office, I told my friends, finally, we’ll have a legit, criminal family enterprise running America. There is no way Trump would have survived the business he’s in, in NYC, without having ties to the Russian Mafia. I have no proof, but anyone who’s not a Trump supporter, who’s educated enough to not follow this “snake oil salesmen,” know’s what’s going on.

If there is one person on planet earth besides Mueller who has been on Trump’s ass since they discovered his first scam back in the 80s when he bought that old Commodore Hotel and made a deal to renovate it “if” NYC would give him a huge $2 million tax cut. The deal then was that Trump would give NYC ROI on that deal by handing over 2% of the Trump profits on the newly named Grand Hyatt Hotel back in 1975.

As was reported in the NYT, NY Post and WSJ:

“Trump had the political connections, but he didn’t have much money on hand. He reached an option agreement with the bankrupt Penn Central, which owned the Commodore, but he couldn’t even cover the $250,000 he needed to secure it. Instead, he bluffed. He falsely announced to the press that the option was a done deal and tricked the city government with a paperwork sleight of hand.

When city officials asked for a copy of his agreement with Penn Central, he sent them the paperwork, minus the signatures that would have made it “binding,” D’Antonio wrote.

This omission either went unnoticed or no one cared about it, because the bureaucracy continued to move forward, as if the parties had signed, and Trump had actually paid.” On the strength of the faked option, Trump was able to convince the Hyatt hotel chain that he was a worthy partner with whom it could build a new Grand Hyatt hotel on the site of the Commodore.”

This is the same tactic Trump has pulled over and over in his real estate deals.

      1. Joe September 29, 2017

“Trump was able to convince the Hyatt hotel chain that he was a worthy partner with whom it could build a new Grand Hyatt hotel on the site of the Commodore.”

Hence my comment of Trump being one of those old Western “snake oil salesmen!” He used it to get in office and fooled a lot of people.

        1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

I think what happened over the decades since ’75 when Trump pulled off that stunt with NYC is that NYC had less than ambitious AGs and some of them were on Trump’s payroll.

This is what he does. He overloads his “associates” with back pocket politicians and then weasles them to get them to do what he wants. That’s his so called “Art of the Deal.”

  5. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

Americans are not the ones who are indifferent. With the 50 major Russian hacking sites that used fake FB and Twitter accounts not just to smear Hillary and Obama but to target hick social media users they knew would be as contradictory as they can be and divide the country.

You don’t need ESP to see where this is going. More of the greed by billionaires and crooks, more Russian hacking and how much of your hard earned tax dollars will be directed to programs WE want?

Face facts people. If a business owner can only keep his business alive because we hand him billions in tax cuts, exemptions and subsidies, what the hell good is he as a business owner? And who really owns HIS business if we are the major contributors keeping it in existence?

    1. dpaano September 29, 2017

Most of the “extra” money they will get from the tax cut will end up going to their shareholders and NOT to help the business grow! Look what happened in Kansas when they tried “trickle down economics.” Will the GOP EVER learn from states like Kansas….. probably not!

      1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

I may be the only person in the US who believes that any corporation rich enough to sell their stocks and hand their CEOs millions in salaries and perks do not and should not receive one dime of help from US taxpayers.

What in the world does it say about these so called know it all rich boys when they can’t run their own businesses profitably without tax funding?

It tells me they are not much in the way of management.

        1. CPAinNewYork September 29, 2017

It tells me that they’re a bunch of crooks.

          1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

The sad fact is that at this point in time, if you go back to the Republican history as far as 1850 when that party was established, they had only one thing in mind: to be the party of big business and to crush the life out of government by privatizing it to the max.

What I don’t get is why it is some Americans don’t see why big spender Republicans like Mnuchin and Price believe they are entitled to waste millions of taxpayer dollars using military and private jets.

That IS what the bilionaires Trump surrounded himself with are accustomed to. So all Trump does is approve the lifestyles of wealth to which they have been accustomed. Too bad it’s now on our tax dollars.

Here in NJ, we know Trump is a world class Grifter. If he can get it for free whether it bankrupts others, he’s onto it.

I was watching Morning Joe this morning and during their show, they brought a young articulate, very knowledgeable and well spoken Dem guy known by the name: Seth Moulton, Rep. of Mass. This guy has caught my attention and all Dems must keep an eye on this guy. This young lad will go toe to toe with a corrupt, money laundring Trump come 2020. What he needs to do is to study hard on different issues and make sure he establishes a good relationship with former Pres. Obama who will teach him a lot. The guy is really a useful tool. If all Dems know him well, will not let him go.

I also ask everyone to keep an eye on the Castro brothers (from Texas)….both of them are very intelligent, articulate, and saavy! Either one would make a fantastic candidate for a Democratic presidential run!

      1. FT66 September 29, 2017

Agreed. Castro brothers are also good, but this guy Seth Moulton who was hiding somewhere is really something. Please try to watch him talking and you will come to agree with me. I didn’t know the guy before today when I watched him talking. He really impressed me a lot.

    2. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

I also was quite impressed with Moulton. The other possibility I like is Senator Whitehouse D-RI. His is quite impressive in his knowledge of foreign affairs, the judiciary and constitutional law.

Assuming Mueller can take Trump down, the 21 GOP crooks who tried to cover up their complicity will go down with Trump and his morons.

That leaves the GOP dead in the water and no longer a majority. Right now they are pulling off every dirty trick in the book they can to keep that majority. They already got 3 hick crooks with lousy reputations appointed to the DOJ, EPA and HHS. Once you add in that moronic Sheriff Wild West Moore with the stupid cowboy hat riding his horse with his pistol flashing, you see the true state of the GOP today.

How very fitting that a Gangster in the White House has such a gang of like minded crooks at his fingertips.

      1. FT66 September 29, 2017

Eleanore, can we try or force ourselves not working on “IFs”. Can we try to assume the liar of all liars (Trump) will contest for another four years as he hasn’t filled in his pockets with enough money he anticipated.

        1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

Trump won’t last till Christmas. That’s my prediction. If Robert Mueller is anything in this world, it is the quintessential high minded legal genius.

Trump is dirty as are so many of the Republicans, Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders. All of whom are tied to the Russians.

          1. FT66 September 29, 2017

Don’t mention that devil “Jill Stein”. she was bought to take votes from Hillary. This old woman will also end up in jail. Just wait and see what Mueller will come up with.

          2. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

That photo op of her sitting across from Putin and Flynn is priceless. She got used by Putin like a dockside harlot.

The only purpose she had was the same as for Sanders. To divide the votes Hillary would get. It didn’t work anyway. Hillary won the popular vote by 2.6 million more votes than Trump.

          3. FT66 September 29, 2017

You don’t get it very well Eleanore. Jill Stein took a lot of votes from Hillary in MI, PA and WI. If those votes went to Hillary and not to Jill Stein, Hillary would be the PRESIDENT by now.

          4. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

It wouldn’t have mattered. That election was rigged. Ask yourself this. Why in the very last hour of that election did Hillary have more Electoral College votes than Trump?

Then, Texas shows up at the last minute with their 38 electoral college votes. TX ended up in front of the SC for their Constitutional violations for overlapping Dem voters into GOP districts. Add in what NC and VA did by deliberately deleting some of the Dem districts and see just how the Republicans pushed Trump over the edge with electoral college votes.

Mind you. 3 times now the GOP used shady Electors to get a president in the White House. This time they had the help of Putin.

The fact is that we have every right to know who the legislators are who are appointing their state electors and we have every right to know who the electors are.

          5. FT66 September 29, 2017

Agreed. The election was totally rigged. Remember Trump was singing this song wherever rally he was going to, and Trump as far as we know him, always says the opposite. The election was rigged to his favor as much as we know.

          6. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

What I remember was a mob of motley looking Trump supporters holding up a large sign with Trump holding Hillary’s bloody head. Now little Donny Boy goes bananas when his head was shown that way.

I also recall that it was Trump who encouraged his motley mob to chant, “Lock her up” after he called Hillary a criminal for using private emails.

The very thing Iskanka, Kushy, Pricky Ricky and Donny Jr all do, not to mention the now fired Bannon, Spicer and the newest Trump troglodyte, Sarah Huckster Sanders.

Lock them Up! Lock them UP!

      2. Thoughtopsy September 29, 2017

I’m leaning towards Kamala Harris due to the obvious intelligence and incisive questioning… but am worried that the US has shown it’s not ready for a woman to have the top job… and that might act as enough of an anchor to drag her down, vote-wise. :-/

  7. Richard Prescott September 29, 2017

It is not miraculous that a lot of people who have paid attention over the years to Trump and his actions know what he is. It is the allowance of the GOP and the sick enabling of him they continue to do that is worse.
On the bright side of this, when all the dust settles the GOP will have been dealt a critical blow because of their involvement in all this.
As more and more information comes out about his “deals” we can see why he was so adamant about people leaving his finances out of it. His lying about being under audit and that preventing him from showing his tax returns.
And the Kuchner real estate problems in Baltimore where they take to court people who were not behind on rent or take others because they illegally charge late fees using the balance that includes late fees and more weirdly, people who have not lived in the buildings for years.
The whole family is being shown as corrupt. And the GOP is still behind him.

    1. CPAinNewYork September 29, 2017

Indications of corruption are one thing, but the key question is “What are we going to do about it.?”

      1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

Until the Republican Majority is splintered, there isn’t much that can be done. If you watch the Senate and House sesssions every day, the only voices that get the floor are the Republicans. This is how they took over this country. But, that is tyranny.

We have no idea how they rigged the Electoral College other than deleting Dem voting districts and overlapping Dem districts into GOP voting districts which the Supreme Court has warned them is a Constitutional violation.

That scam is pulled off for only one reason: Voter suppression.

Once you add in that the Russians are still working for Trump and that Kushner set up that back link to Russia so Trump could speak on the sly to Putin and do all his business without anyone knowing, you see just where this country is right now…in the hands of the Trump mob.

    2. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

I have a huge number of friends on FB from nearly every state. I weed out the ones I know don’t play with a clean hand on the keyboard. But, from what I can tell, there is a serious gap between what we in the Metro Area have always known about Trump thanks to that ugly mug in the papers every week and what anyone below the Mason Dixon knows.

When I tell them that Trump forced his 1st wife into a divorce by parading around with Marla Maples for 18 months, it’s obvious they never heard or read any of this. When I tell them he impregnated Marla Maples in that 18 while he was still married to Ivana and then 8 years later demanded Marla get a paternity test for their 8 1/2 year old daughter, Tiffany, they didn’t ever hear about any of this.

Here in NJ, Trump in our local media was unavoidable. he owned 2 hotels and casinos and that Bedminister golf course.

      1. Richard Prescott September 29, 2017

Don’t feel too bad for those southerners who knew nothing about Trump and refused to hear the truth. I have literal friends in the north not in the NY metro area who knew nothing about him and refused to believe or understand why I didn’t like him, felt he was bad. One guy whom I told point blank still made a dumb assed comment in a group of veterans “He doesn’t like him for his reasons…”. My reasons were from watching the buffoon 40 years do what he did, reading about his BS, behavior that by anyone else would have been brought to their knees.
There are a lot of empty headed people, or ones who think that Fox News or CNN give them all the true and correct information they need.
Now we are finding out that they may have been doubly duped, or in some cases triply.

        1. Eleanore Whitaker September 29, 2017

One of the reasons Trump didn’t campaign in NJ is because there are 4400 employees and dozens of union contractors who want a piece of him. So the coward bailed out of campaigning in NJ.

Let’s assume that Trump somehow manages to get rid of the Russia investigation. There is still one thing on the books that NY’s AG won’t allow to drop: The Trump indictment for fraudulently marketing what he knew was Trump University and bilking thousands out of fake tuiton.

AG Eric Schneidermann is determined Trump will not be allowed to just walk away from that. So even if the Republicans save Lard Ass’s bacon to cover up their own guilt, there is still that outstanding NY state indictment.

Clue: He created his own self image of a savior of the poor. He sidled up to a big time newspaper owner to make sure his name was out there. He had no problem believing he was above the law and that he was the only law that mattered. He was well known to be a narcissist who masqueraded as Robin Hood while taking more than his fair share of his ill gotten goods.

Ladies and gentlemen, what we are witnessing is a monumental display of corruption, lying, deceit, racism, rabid nationalism, wealth surpassing what the emperors of bygone eras couldn’t even imagine, and the power of technology twisted to make this all come together like a polished well-rehearsed Greek Tragedy.

Might it be true that Donald had to win in order to awaken us from our slumber, arouse us from our spiritual lethargy and constant pursuit of the easy life? Is it not to our benefit to have a personality like Donald be put on the world stage so that Americans at least can understand more fully the consequences of rampant materialism which has come to define America(and Trump particularly)—- a repugnant obsession with wealth and seizing power, exceeding in magnitude materialism afflicting any other nation on the planet?

Were it not for Donald gaining the Presidency, no one would have believed how atrocious Donald is in real life, except those who grew up in the tri-state region; were it not for Donald persistent aspiration to puff himself up, we may never have become cognizant until much later of the extensive campaign of cyber-war being waged by Putin; were it not for Donald egging on the GOP to be more mean-spirited than they’ve already demonstrated in the past, many would continue thinking that this band of conservatives are concerned for our welfare. And were it not for Donald, many would still be doubting that Racism still plays a major role in the slow destruction of American society.

So, although Trump has forced many to undergo severe mental stress, has indirectly caused the death of many by murderous racists, has emboldened the bats of hell who still believe in the myth of White Supremacy to come out into the open so that we can see first-hand the extent of the spread of the cancer of Racism across the nation—and beyond—he is helping responsible citizens to examine more closely the dangers of immorality, and the perils of not exercising moral restraint and not having a Standard of Morality which can serve as a Beacon for all who might lose their way in the turbulence of this time in human history.

“IT HAD TO BE TRUMP….”—sung to the melody “It had to be You”, with major modifications of course.

It diminishes my pride and faith in our country to know that a man similar in character to Al Capone is president of the United States of America?!

As a second generation Sicilian-American, I must strongly object to your comparison of Donald Trump to Al Capone. Next to the lowlife infesting the Oval Office, Capone was a solid citizen.

Cranky, obviously I never intended to insult you or defame law abiding Italians but I have to hope you don’t think Al Capone would have made a finer POTUS than DJT….That’s just absurd!!

Don’t give it another thought, my friend. I was just being facetious (more or less).

But just so we’re clear, in terms of suitability to be POTUS, Trump is no more qualified than Capone, in my view. The only real difference between the two is that Trump is less honest and more widely despised than was Capone.
