Nothing aggravates Republicans like seeing nasty, effective tactics upon which they have so long relied being turned against one of their candidates. So when Barack Obama’s re-election campaign aired an ad celebrating the anniversary of Osama Bin Laden’s death – and suggesting that Mitt Romney wouldn’t have achieved that objective – the right exploded with outraged protests.

Evidently the feelings of longtime hatchet-men like Bush-era party chair Ed Gillespie, ex-Bush flack Ari Fleischer, and the editorial writers at the Wall Street Journal, to name a few, were really, really hurt — because the Obama campaign exploited a moment of national unity for partisan advantage. “This is one of the reasons President Obama has become one of the most divisive presidents in American history,” said Gillespie, now a Romney adviser.

To anyone with a functioning memory, however, this whining is implausible. So are the dire predictions that the president will somehow offend voters by claiming credit for whacking Bin Laden (or by smacking Romney). During the Bush presidency, Republicans used precisely the same approach and worse, over and over, without fretting whether their words and ads were “divisive.”

It began weeks after the 9/11 attacks, amid sincere pledges of patriotic cooperation from Congressional Democrats, when Karl Rove told the Republican National Committee that their party would “go to the country on this issue” to win the midterm elections in 2002. They won an historic victory by sliming wounded Vietnam hero Max Cleland and former Air Force intelligence officer Tom Daschle as stooges of Al Qaeda.

Bush’s 2004 reelection campaign amplified the same themes, with advertising and pageantry at the Republican convention in New York City grossly exploiting 9/11, a series of conveniently timed terror “alerts” leading up to Election Day, and repeated warnings by Vice President Dick Cheney that a Democratic victory would signal weakness to America’s enemies. And it persisted into the 2006 midterm, with Rove falsely portraying Democrats as limp-wristed “liberals” trying to “understand” Osama bin Laden.

Until that election, the rough Rovian style succeeded brilliantly – despite the fact that Bush and Cheney had actually allowed Bin Laden and Mullah Omar to escape at Tora Bora. Obama’s cool order to kill Bin Laden, in a moment of considerable risk to his presidency, finally debunked the decade of smears against Democrats as unpatriotic, wimpish, and unreliable.

By contrast, the Obama ad’s brief rebuke of Romney is at least factual and accurate: Not only did he say what the ad quotes, but he also said that he wouldn’t go into Pakistan to get Bin Laden, which is what the mission required. Had the President followed Romney’s policy recommendation, Bin Laden would almost certainly still be at large.

“Even Jimmy Carter would have given that order,” scoffed Romney in response. But he shouldn’t be so quick to denigrate the former Democratic president, who entered the Navy during World War II and then served as a submarine officer until his honorable discharge in 1953. Somebody may compare Carter’s service with Romney’s own military record, which doesn’t exist – and remind voters that he avoided the Vietnam draft with a pampered stint as a Mormon missionary, in France.

I am absolutely ashamed of all republicans. Even my hero, John McCain, has joined the backbiting, hateful rhetoric of Congress. I have always voted for republicans, but never again. They come across as immature, thoughtless, even stupid little twerps. I am embarrassed by their behavior in the legislature. Believe we should vote most of them out and replace them with Democrats.

        • Jon

Don’t bet it.. Although one at a time is better than nothing, there’s still a lot of stupidity to clean up.

    • Pomonaute

      They fight dirty!

    • CrankyToo

I make it a point to never, never, never argue with a Republican making sense! Congratulations howler65 on your return from the dark side. I made my break about 10 years ago, and have nothing in my heart but disdain for those “stupid little twerps” today. There’s not a man or woman anywhere within the GOP establishment who amounts to more than a pimple on Barack H. Obama’s backside.

As regards John McCain, in particular: I was an Airman 1st Class assigned to the 60th Security Police Squadron at Travis AFB, California during the period 1971-1974. Early in 1972, I was tasked to support “Operation Homecoming”, the returning flights of American POWs being repatriated from Southeast Asia.

As John McCain and the others walked, hobbled or were carried from the C-9 Nightengales and C-141 Starlifters which had brought them home, I was there – manning the ropes and stancheons holding back the crowds. Mind you, the crowds were very small – seldom comprising more than a couple hundred (mostly) military men, women and their families (as a nation, we were at the time somewhat ashamed of our involvement in the Vietnam conflict). But I can tell you with certainty that those of us who were there to witness those homecoming events were very proud indeed of John McCain and the other POWs.

All that to say that John McCain used to be more than a hero to me – he was a brother in arms.

Forty years later, I’m still proud of Lt Commander John McCain, but I’m ashamed and disappointed in Senator John McCain. He’s become a bitter, cranky old man who appears to have lost sight of the values we went to war to promote in Southeast Asia. My fondest hope is that Senator McCain will one day rediscover Lt Commander McCain and become the kind of statesman and leader we desperately need for him to be.

      • There is no argueing with republicans, they are always right just ask them. Extremely narrow minded will not listen to anyone elses point of view.

    • ObozoMustGo

Howler…. you have NEVER voted Republican and you know it. In typical leftist nutjob fasion, you feign honesty to try to gain some sort of credibility in hopes of changing minds. HA! What a dope! Only the useful idiots on this site approve of your lies.

      Have a nice day!

      • No other comments on this article resorted to cheap namecalling and insults. Not to mention sloppy spelling. Why don’t you tell us one GOOD reason why anyone should vote for what the Republican Party has become. Without repeating the same right wing cliches that you seem to think pass for facts.

        • ObozoMustGo

T…. I cant give you any good reason to vote for the Republican party. I can only give you a good reason to vote for constitutional conservatives. That reason is that our nation is on the brink of disaster financially and our only real hope is to return the role of the Federal Government to that which it was originally intended.

Both Rs and Ds have been guilty of buying today’s votes with payouts from tomorrow’s earnings. Kicking the can down the road for nearly 100 years. The piper needs to paid, and the bill is coming soon.

Last year, the Federal Reserve bought 61% of all Treasuries sold because there wasnt enough of a market for them. This is a disaster in the wings and we are NOT going to escape it without some real difficult choices and times. It’s not an R thing or a D thing. IT’S A MATH THING!

Now, it so happens that you’re about as likely to find a Constitutional Conservative in the DumbocRAT party as you are to find the space shuttle landing up your butt. And, unfortunately, the Republican party is the only real alternative where you will find them on the national level.

I am actually more Libertarian than Republican, but the Libertarian party is too marginal. The Republican party is being changed from within. This is a good thing!

          Have a nice day!

          • Interesting you can’t even make an intelligent comment without calling someone a name, “Dumbocrats”! Sorry, for me, that negated everything thing you said prior to your juvenile name calling!

          • swinedance

Yesterday the DOW hit the highest level since December 2007, the American auto industry is on the rebound, exports are up almost 40% in three years.

Don’t forget Osama bin Laden is dead, the Iraq war is over, and America is regaining the respect from the world that we lost during the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice regime.

This doesn’t sound like a disaster to me.

          • ObozoMustGo

swine… you are eating your own vomit, or Obozo’s vomit more accurately. Good useful idiots do that!

This is a foolish game, but I’ll play along for you. If you want to pin the Dow performance on Obozo, it’s equally fair to pin it on GWB during his tenure. The high under GWB was about 14,100. Obozo is NOT even close to that. In fact, when it became clear that Obozo was going to win the election, the market TANKED 50% from over 12,000. Any increase in the market now is IN SPITE OF Obozo, not because of him.

There, I played your game. It’s a fool’s game because in truth, the stock markets value is ONLY based on the perception of future earnings of companies. And Presidents have little to no influence in the short run over expectations of future earnings of private enterprises that make up the economy as a whole. Their policies may influence an industry or sector, but as a whole, not a lot.

Exports may be up because the value of the dollar is in the toilet! Thanks to Obozo’s wild and profligate deficit spending, our debt is now at about $16 TRILLION and growing fast. The Fed is printing money as fast as they can get ink and paper delivered and the dollar has lost significant value. Exports are cheaper, but it’s not because of the economy. And the numbers you cite include new sales of Boeing airplanes. They count, no doubt, but they are way over stated when it comes to the economy as a whole.

Improved relationships with allies? Which ones might they be? Egypt and everywhere the Muslim Brotherhood has taken over? I guess insulting the UK by sending back the Churchill bust was good policy, as well? Making our Eastern European allies happy with the fact that we removed missile defenses from their Russian perimeters really made them happy. Telling Israel to move their borders back to 1967 borders made them just ecstatic, didnt it? Face it, you moron, Obozo is a disaster on the world stage.

Great that the Navy Seals got OBL. Funny how Obozo goes out there trumpeting this as HIS greatest achievement as if he flew in and pulled the trigger. I’m glad we got him and it’s a good thing. But the truth is that this is Obozo’s ONLY ACHIEVEMENT. Sort of pathetic that the killing of a lone terrorist is your #1 bragging point, dont you think?

            Have a nice day!

      • These comments are interesting! A man expresses his heartfelt feelings, expresses the reason for his change of mind and what do you say about him? “Typical nutjob fasion” Do you mean fashion? or call him “a dope” You Republicans have become so fashionable, it is called “name calling”! Can’t you ever respond without calling the other person a derogatory name? I have a good understanding of who is the “dope” and who is an “idiot”! By the way, the definition of an idiot is “a person of the lowest order in a former and discarded classification of mental retardation, having a mental age of less than three years old and an intelligence quotient under 25.” Even a three year old probably understands what an “idiot” is!

Yes. I remember too: “mission accomplished”

      • joujou228

And Dick shenney in 2004 telling the country the weekend before the election voting again Bush means the country would be attacked like 9/11.

  • William Deutschlander

When you seriously consider the Republican rhetoric it boils down to, if we Republicans don’t do it then it really doesn’t count! The Republicans of the 2000’s are the epitime of lies, distortions, hypocricy, deceit, greed and malfeasance. They can be summed up in two words, Bull Sh-t!

The U S A needs a refreshment of DEMOCRACY and the only plausible way to acheive that goal is, a DEMOCRATIC (as in Democracy) sweep of ALL public offices in the 2012 election.

OUT with the PARTY OF “NO”(1%), in with the PARTY OF THE PEOPLE (99%)!

    • joujou228

Also Mitt Romney’s ccamp kept attacking the President for apoligizing for America, for making this country less safe, for taking the side of the terrorists. Now when the President reminds the country about maing thes tough calls, it’s politics? Really? can we say “Mission Accomplish”

    • pennrandy

Sometimes ‘No’ is the adult answer, especially when childish efforts at wrecking this country are what are being voted on. The dumbocrats have tax and spent this country into so much debt that it is possible we may never recover no matter who is elected. However, we have to try, so this November all right minded people who understand the dilemma we face will vote Republican and TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!! by voting for Tea Party Express candidates when possible, and straight Republican when they aren’t. Thank God that Republicans had the backbone and fiscal responsibility to say No! to more fiscal malfeasance. Regrettably, it may be too late, but at least we are trying.

Penn, Where was all this fiscal responsibility when medicaid part D was passed without any funding? What about the two wars that were fought at the cost of billions with their budgets being “off book”. Did you complain when Haliburton was awarded the largest non-bid contract in the history of the US gov’t in direct violation of Fed. law?

the US most definitely needs to get its fiscal house in order, and we need to control the deficit through a combination of cuts and tax increase. But if you want to have a reasonable conversation you need to at least acknowledge that BOTH parties contributed to the fiscal mess we are in and its going to take both to fix the problem.

  • If he finished the job, why is he staying in Afghanistan until 2024? And remember that before we invaded Afghanistan, the Taliban agreed to turn over Bin Laden if we provided evidence he was guilty of a crime (which any government would require in order to extradite). The U.S. failed to provide any evidence against Bin Laden, and instead attacked a sovereign country, and has fought the longest war in U.S. hisotry – a war which Obama escalated and extended.

Remember that Obama as well as Romney is a chickenhawk who would not serve in war himself but willingly sends poor young people to their deaths and serious injuries.

It is disgusting, when 63% of Americans are against the war, that the duopoly parties are arguing about which is more pro-war instead of giving the people a real choice. We must dump both the Democratic and Republican parties. They have done too much damage, and are just getting worse and worse.

    • If you’ll remember back, the last time we walked away from the war we WON in Afghanistan — circa 1989 when USSR was defeated by Afghanistan and its allies (us) — we left the seeds in place for 9/11. That where bin Laden met up with us and learned to hate us. He hated us for leaving. When Saudi Arabia built the U.S. military base instead of hiring bin Laden’s force to defend the country, he moved back to Afghanistan. And you know the rest of the story. Doing it right takes time, commitment and effort.

    • What kind of reason are you using to make the comment that Obama is also a chickenhawk? I find that remark disingenious to say the very least. Please expand your comment to include the basis for your belief. Thank you.

      • I don’t understand your question. It was explained in my original comment. A chickenhawk is one who sends people to war but won’t fight himself. Obama never served in the military, but he has been eager to send young men and women all over the world (Special Forces in 75 countries, as well as escalation in Afghanistan, beginning active military involvement in Columbia, waging war in Libya, etc., etc.) to wage war in order to maintain the American Empire.

Bill… right on! The R’s and D’s have been screwing America since Woodrow Wilson. The problem is NOT our 2 party system, however. I’d rather have 2 parties than 25 or more like they have in that joke of a government in Italy. The challenge is to change both from within.

The D’s were successfully transformed by the socialist 60’s radicals who infiltrated and took over the party of the last 40 ys. Obozo is a product of that successful infiltration.

The R’s were taken over by those who were too weak to stop the march of socialism and didnt care as long as they compromised for their crony business men. The Dems got the socialism they wanted, the Reps got protection for their business buddies, all the politicians got rich, and the American people and taxpayers got screwed!

And now, with $16 TRILLION in debt, and growing fast, with high interest rates on the horizon, the whole house of cards is in jeopardy of coming down, and quickly.

The only real way to change this is to reinstate the purpose of the Federal government as it is stipulated and authorized in The Constitution. That would require a massive shrinking of the welfare state. At this stage, with nearly 50% of Americans as NET TAKERS of Federal Government benefits, it is highly unlikely that enough people will be adult enough to do the right thing. I am not optimistic. 🙁

Bravo! Once again the “Superior” Republicans shoot themselves in the foot!

  • Wisconsin should put two names on the recall ballot. Walker and that thirp of a congressman, Ryan. They both should be tarred and feathered and rode through Wis. on a rail.

  • pennrandy

I am ashamed of democrats on this issue. Yes they can take a little credit for taking part in Obama bin Laden’s death, but it was a team effort begun by Republicans like Bush, the grunt work done by the military which is heavily Republican and only a Johnny-come-lately addition of Obama at the end, but he wants credit as if he did the whole thing alone. Giving the order at the end was a foregone conclusion, not a great stroke of genius. Like Governor Romney said, even Carter would have given that order. A no-brainer. Republicans laid the groundwork and did most of the work and the country knows that which is why this November, we will Take Our Country Back!!!

    • Dan

facts don’t get past you Bush gave up Romney said it’s a waste of billions so don’t talk about WMD’s and a wrong war and bankrupting america Obama said he would get him and he did period.

    • You really expected the Greedy One Percenters to kill off one of their own??? President Obama ended the wars that Bush entered with no forethought. That’s not all he has cleaned up either.

      • pennrandy

Greedy?!? They are the JOB CREATORS in this country! You owe the one percenters your job and the lifestyle that comes with it; your security, your freedoms even the freedom to disagree without undue fear of recrimination. The Founding Fathers were all in the top one percent. Common men certainly did not write the Constitution, the words of genius that made us evolve into the most powerful country in history. Free Enterprise made us economically healthy, not socialism. Competition made us rich, not Obama’s govenment handouts. If that is what the greedy one percenters have wrought, then by golly, we need more greedy one percenters! The more the merrier! People are waking up to the failed socialist policies of the current president and realizing the ‘greedy one percenters’ are what made this country great and if they want a stronger country with jobs instead of unemployment, they will get out of the way of the one percent and let them lead like they always have to fix what socialism has destroyed and make all our lives better. That is why this November people in record numbers will vote to TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!! America WILL be great again and the charge will be led by those so called ‘greedy’ one percent as they dismantle socialist money-sucking programs like the National Endowment for the Arts, Obamacare, student loans, welfare, affirmative action, postal subsidies and public schools. Free Enterprise will prove to run all these programs better than socialism and if the one percenters grow richer because of it, it will be because they earned every penny they get, never relying on Obama’s biggest government give aways in history. In the end it will always be the ability to earn your money that will make the USA stronger and provide more jobs for people like us, so the next time you see a job-creating one percenter, smile and say Thank You! They are the truly Real Americans that make this country great, the unsung heros and worthy of our deepest respect; not charismatic, brainless socialist community organizers. We need to get out of the way of the one percenters and let them fix this economy before Obama’s socialism makes us look like Eastern Europe. Thank god we will recover both branches of Congress and get a true leader in the White House in November. It can’t get here soon enough!

        • CrankyToo

Notwithstanding the fact that your diatribe is nothing more than a rant of unsupported, dumbass, Repugnican talking points, it falls off the track in the very first sentence. The one percenters are not the job creators, the consumers are (translation: we, the people). I suggest you grab both ears and yank as hard as you can – see if you can’t pull your head out of your ass.

          • pennrandy

The captains of industry have always been the job creators. Yes, they respond to demand to justify creating each and every job, but the fact is we need the Greedy One Percenters to actually respond to the need. Jobs don’t create themselves, people create them and that requires capital, planning and manufacturing or implementation of services. When the Greedy One Percenters work diligently to set all that up, only then do consumers have the opportunity to respond and create demand that leads to more jobs. It is always amusing to listen to socialist welfare state supporters assume that jobs create themselves and that products arrive by magic so that demand can be met without anyone making it happen. Demand is a force to be tapped through proper planning, financing and implementation, and it is the One Percenters that supply all that, which is why they are correctly identified as the JOB CREATORS. If you don’t believe it, try creating jobs without them. All you will get will be a series of mom and pop shops. Also, watch the language. Republicans are far more respectful than socialist welfare state wonks and we engage in dialogue far better, but that doesn’t mean you can’t figure out how to talk in a civil manner. Or maybe it does, regretfully. Give it a try anyway, please.

          • Your argument falsely assumes that you have to be wealthy to raise capital, FYI you don’t. Borrowing or selling stock are just two of the alternatives you can use as opposed to personal wealth. You yourself stated ” . Yes, they respond to demand ”
DEMAND, the TRUE Job Creator. The rest is just mechanics. Mechanics that can be performed by anyone that can raise the Capital.

          • pennrandy

Hmmmm, so I assume you believe that water creates electricity, not the hydro-electric plant? Demand is a resorce and tool that is generated by products that meet needs. By itself it is dormant, but when properly harnessed (like water to a hydro-electric plant) it creates beautiful things like wealth. Mere mechanics? Hardly, it takes committed industrialists and entrepreneurs who are overwhelmingly members of the One Percenters to make the mechanics work. It is no accident they are overwhelmingly Republican. This is not a coincidence. As for Capital, where is there money to lend? Obama has leveraged the country to foreign capital to the extent that there is hardly any money left over to lend which is the true reason the economic recovery has been faltering. There is no money to make the system work. The Obama debt has crippled the country and is strangling the world by monopolizing the credit market just to service the socialist debt he has burdened our country with. No capital, no capitalism is the gift this community organizer has bestowed upon an unsuspecting country. The is not the ‘Change’ they voted for. The country would be richer and more prosperous with much lower unemployment and more available capital to spur growth if McCain/Palin had won. Capitalism requires capital, electricty requires hydro-electric plants. Just having a nearby river isn’t enough. It is the Greedy One Percenters that make it happen. They are the true job creators of the hydro-electric plants, not the river. That is just a resource that needs to be harnessed, like demand. (So you believe anyone can make the mechanics work if they just have access to the capital that Obama has dried up? I postulate that it also requires competence and intelligence in addition to capital, something else that the Greedy One Percenters have in abundance, which is largely how they got to be One Percenters in the first place.)

Sorry to hurt your feeling, Mate. Sometimes I just get my fill of you Repugnicans spewing out the inane tripe you get from Fox Noise, Rush Limpdick, and all the other hatemongers; as though there’s an ounce of fact to any of it. It staggers my imagination! What planet do you people come from anyhow? Krikey, all you have to do is watch an ACTUAL news program to figure out what’s been going on in this country for the past 10 years.

We’re not becoming a socialist welfare state, we’re becoming a corporate welfare state, due primarily to the activities of corrupt politicians in Congress and in statehouses across the country – predominantly Repugnican.

There’s only one way America can become a socialist state: capitalism will finally become so corrupt, so immoral, that it will cause its own demise. In that scenario, the folks you hold in such high esteem – the “job creators” and the “captains of industry” – will eventually, by virtue of their own outrageous greed and avarice, inspire the peasants to take up their torches and pitchforks, round up the greedy bastards and lop off their well-coiffed heads. Ask the French if that can’t happen.

I know a lot of 99%-ers, and not one of them begrudges a rich man his riches. But damn it, if capitalism is to succeed as our economic system, it needs to provide for all our citizens, not just the country-clubbers. And I don’t mean provide food stamps and unemployment insurance; I mean provide opportunities to earn a decent wage, own a piece of the rock, get a good education, have decent healthcare, and enjoy retirement benefits sufficient to allow a body who’s contributed a lifetime of sweat to live out his/her final years with a measure of dignity and comfort. Trust me, there’ll still be plenty left for the greedy f__ks at the top.

          • pennrandy

Your response this time was much better and also informative. I too worry about excessive capitalism. Too much in either direction causes problems, th best course is in the middle. The trouble is that you and I have different perceptions of where the middle is, but realize that we both have a concern of going too far to one extreme or the other. All the goals you mention are worthwhile. I just believe that Free Enterprise will provide them in greater abundance and more efficiently than socialism will. I hope you are right and we do achieve the goals you mention. That would indeed would be wonderful. I wish you would start reading some Republican literature with an open mind like I did four years ago. You may feel differently and I certainly would enjoy welcoming you to the Republican Party. I noticed two years ago that Fallen Democrats were the biggest number of newly registered Republicans. I pray you will consider joining your friends and be on the winning side this fall. I look forward to sweeping Congress and the White House as we Take Our Country Back and would love to see you with us instead of against. Will you keep an open mind and start really trying to see what the Republicans really believe instead of the partisan politicing the democrats push? One nugget to chew on, the democrats have controlled both the Congress and White House and yet cannot pass a budget these past three years, an example of historical ineptitude. Do you believe the Republicans could ever control Congress and the White House and fail to produce a budget?? Why is that? The answers to that question could start you down the road of clear thinking that should clarify who you should vote for in November. Oh, and for the record, I have believed Rush Limbaugh should have been fired years ago. He makes Republicans look bad and there are a great many of us who feel the same way. Inroads have been made to get him off the air and we will continue working on that. Despite what he says, Rush Limbaugh is not representative of the New Republcian Party. We are more civil and open minded than that. We also don’t hate women. Rush clearly has issues and it is time he left the scene.

        • You start off your rant with a well worn and obvious lie, ” They are the JOB CREATORS in this country! You owe the one percenters your job ”

All thinking people know that wealth DOES NOT create jobs, jobs are created by CONSUMER DEMAND. Lets put it this way, lets say you are wealthy; How much of your wealth are you going to spend creating jobs to make products that you can’t sell ( because there is no CONSUMER DEMAND for them)?

    • If as you and Romney say, any president would have gone after bin Laden how do excuse the Bush administration for not doing so when they had the chance? Tora Bora immediately comes to mind…does it not?

    • metrognome3830

Yes, two great warriors! Romney and Bush. At least Carter actually served in the military. That remark was a cheap shot by Romney. Why are you ashamed of the Democrats? You obviously aren’t one.

      • pennrandy

I used to be,which is why I am ashamed. I began the 2008 campaign season firmly in Hillary Clinton’s camp only to watch the best politician in the country sold out by Ted Kennedy, Bill Richardson and others that she counted on so that an inexperienced community organizer could get the nomination instead. Then I watched in horror as the media destroyed Sarah Palin. Governor Palin helped the media do its job, but she didn’t deserve most of the vitriol that was thrown her way, just like Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary didn’t either. The fact is, the USA just won’t let a woman run on the national ticket whether she is liberal (Ferraro), moderate (Clinton) or conservative (Palin). They just insert her name in the attack plan and go after any female who dares to try to run for national office. The democrats were especially bad in 2008, devouring their own (Clinton) and then going after Palin. Destroying two women in a single campaign was sickening. Depressed over the community organizer running as the demo nominee, I also got a new girlfriend, half my age, white and a Republican, all were firsts for me. Long story short, I opened my heart which opened my mind and I began attending Republican meetings in western Pennsylvania at the urging of my then fiance and her father who is on a local Republican planning group and a member of the local Tea Party Express. I bit my tongue at first and then got into many discussions, but was pointed to many blogs, articles and discussion groups where my eyes were opened and I realized all the lies I have been told, especially lies that have kept my black brothers enslaved economically in a very real socialist welfare state both literally and figuratively. I could go on about all the things I learned, but as I learned more, I realized the size of the deception the democrat-socialists have wrought on unsuspecting liberals whose only crime was having a big heart and wanting to help people. I love and respect individual democrats I have known for years, but have come to loath the deceptive socialist welfare state we all had been duped to believe was the only way to ‘help’ people. I have come to realize that only true freedom with unencumbered Free Enterprise will make America strong and learned to spot the lies democrats use to attack and dismantle it. It was difficult to pull that lever for Republicans McCain/Palin in 2008 since it was the first time in 32 years I ever voted Republican. Four years later now with a Republican wife and a baby and being a small business owner seeing first-hand how our Free Enterprise system works, I will rush to vote for Romney/Rubio (R2) and vote straight Republican. My father in law beamed with pride when I announced I had switched my registration from democrat to Republican, and I am only disappointed I wasn’t able to vote for Rick Santorum in the Pennsylvania primary. I didn’t get Hillary in 2008 (thank God I now realize) and didn’t get Santorum in 2012, but Governor Romney over Obama is an improvement any day and I fully support the Republican and Tea Party Express tickets. Why am I ashamed of democrats? Because for 32 years I was one. I learned the error of my ways and am committed that others learn as well which is why I am fully committed to taking on the lying democrat socialist welfare state any time, anywhere and defrock their lies and innuendo that still economically enslave my black brothers and destroy the foundation of this country that our Founding Fathers (all Greedy One Percenters) so loving laid.

        • metrognome3830

Well, you seem committed to your cause. Good luck to you. Just remember, one really doesn’t have to vote all Republican or all Democrat. I must say, however, you seem to have made a huge leap from Hillary supporter to diehard Republican. As far as being disappointed, I’m afraid you’re destined to be disappointed again somewhere down the road by giving your all-out support to any present-day politician. They all, at best, fudge the truth and at worst, just plain lie. I hope your conversion works out for you, but don’t be surprised when your Tea Party friends let you down.

      • True. Romney & Bush are both draft dodgers whereas Carter (and the 1st Bush) served in World War II.

  • pennrandy

I meant Osama bin Laden, not Obama bin Laden. I apologize for the typo.

  • Two thoughts.

1: How pathetic that Barack “Change You Can Believe In” Obama supporters have been reduced to justifying their tactics by comparing them favorably to G.W. Bush’s.

2: Remember this line of argument next time the GOP plays the Medi-scare game with seniors.

    • SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like the GOP didn’t do that for Bushes reElection??? He’s right to REMIND you Efer’s, and all of us what he did!!! No matter how you CUT, SLICE, DEVY IT UP!! It TOOK A BLACK MAN TO GET THE JOB DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take that!! History will show, and tell the world the facts!!! You can not take nor change it!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • ObozoMustGo

Hi Spott! Nice to see another common sense person on here. This place is loaded with leftist nutjobs who are what we call “Obozo Zombies”… They’d vote for Obozo if he got caught on tape raping a kid. This is what happens when a political figure becomes a “cult of personality”. He can do no wrong in their eyes. You’ll see. Read the responses to your posts. I get a kick out of all the hate and vitriol that comes my way. Very few of them are actually civilized, and NONE of them can think critically.

      Have a nice day!

      • You know why there is so much vitriol? Most of these people are like me. For forty or fifty years we have been moderate to slightly liberal, and we have seen the Democratic party vilified over and over by rich republicans like Karl Rove spewing lies over the airways to such an extent that our moderate views are called “extreme” “socialist” “nut-job.” Karl Rove and the republican party learned long ago that if you repeat the big lie long enough and loud enough that you can manipulate the electorate. And if you can’t manipulate them, then try to stifle their votes, and if you can’t do that, try to pit one segment against the other by claiming that union members are overpaid and making more than non-union workers. That way you can cripple the unions, dry up democratic funding, and keep wage rates for the rest of the “working class” masses low.

It is all so pathetic when you realize that if unions funded republicans, Rove would fall all over himself praising them and saying how patriotic they are and how the country couldn’t function without them.

I could go on and on, but fortunately, it seems that most of America is waking up to the republican ways. As one esteemed president once said: “you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” I hope the time of great awakening has come.

  • I hope each of you readers go and work for Democrats, to aid their candidacies. Then , follow up in supporting them while they are in office. Support a Democratic agenda — it’s for the good of the many.

    • ObozoMustGo

Thank you for your service to America, Mark. Unfortunately, it looks like you have swallowed the socialist bait hook line and sinker. What else could you mean with a statement like “Support a Democratic agenda — it’s for the good of the many.” The DumbocRATic party has been hijacked by the radical leftists and socialists from the 60’s and does not resemble the traditional party. WAKE UP! You are being fooled into the “collectivist mindset” that is like a disease. Let me know if you need some help being cured. I’ve cured others before and I can help you.

Have a nice day! And thank you again for your service to America!

Stop drinking cool aid and get off the pipe. Crack must have muddle your brain to a point of no return. Under Bush we almost have communistic power (eavesdropping on own scitizens’s, fear mongering cowardly citizens like you).
I was born and educated in communist country, so I know i lived it – 23 under. I had more freedom there than under Bush here. Our Gov. always spread the rumors that Russians or Germans are coming, so people will believe and support their agenda. One professor told us in school. Politicians are selfserving, never believe anything what you hear, if never saw it, or touch it yourself – so if you heard it with your own ears, saw it with your own eyes and touch it with your hnads then it’s real and use you common sense. You have none. Republicans play the fear factor to this day. Actually Bush and CHeney and the crew who voted for the war in Iraq (includes Dem’s) should be prosecuted for murder. Osama killed over 3K US citizens Bush and CO killed over 4K of it’s own and inncoent Iraqis, that had nothing to do with the 9/11. You hero dumbno Reagan gave Sadam WMD. So who is the bigger criminal. You Bush said himself HE DOESN’tCARE WHERE OSAMA iS. It hurts that clack President delivered what he promised. Mission accomplishe and he did not get on Empire Building to shout. He risked his Presidency if the mission failed. Your Bush failed but gloryfied himself on a ship like a little boy. MOmmy, mommy see I have done it. What a wuss.
All Republicans are rascists but to cowardly to to admit. (Black /poor voters suppression – just like commies). You let few billionmaires buy you vote . You will eat rice they will eat caviar and laugh how stupid people are and they know it. I guess Romoney gave you a ham cheap ham and cheese sandwich in Wisconsin. Your vote is cheap and anybody who cheer Flopping Romoney is an idiot. This man have no clue abouta anything except how to bankrupt companies, resurect some and baptisae them LOL and call it I am the Saviour. Hahahahaha.
He is the Romoney the Destroyer.

            Take Metro’s advice… It’s like teaching a pig to sing… It’s a waste of time… and it annoys the pig…

          • Gammaanya

Thanks – But guess what pigs actually very intelligent animals and you can teach them to at least make grunts on a cue. With Obozo IQ level of 1 ( ONE) you can’t make him even think. Train him?? I think he still wears diapers. LOL

        • Very well stated,a big hug for you sir….

      • BOZO – as usual your comment reflects a mind swimming in an ideological fog of confusion. Almost nothing you say is true. Ever notice how you typically receive zero “likes” indicating that virtually no one agrees with the foolish comments you write? The only thing you may have “cured” is that nagging case of herpes you caught in the 1970’s.

        • ObozoMustGo

Bigblunder… I dont come to swim in this sea of leftist insanity to be “liked”… In fact, I wish they had a “hate” button so you leftist nutjobs who view the world through sheet-colored lenses could voice your disapproval of my comments.

          Have a nice day!

          • BOZO – for once you tell the truth. All you teabaggers would love to have a “hate button” because that’s all we ever get from your side.

          • Jon

Your very appearance on this forum reflects the fact that your own kind is sick of reading your tripe on their site.. You should waddle back, change your handle and GROW some humility!

      • pennrandy

Love the Obozo and Dumbcrat references! Quite a wordsmith. I also work to cure dumbocrats. Any suggestions on how I can do this effectively? Generally they have astounding resistance to truth, logic and budgetary mathematical reality. I could use some tips.

        • Jon

Yet you spew your self-righteous babble without any proof yourself.. Especially that your a real human being.

        • ObozoMustGo

Thanks Penn… it’s really hard to infuse common sense into someone that has none, but it can be done in some circumstances. You just have to find that one little crack in the door that seems to be open to reason. Even then, I have learned to accept that 20% of the people are just terminally stupid and there is no hope. There are some really good books by former leftists who woke up. David Horowitz is outstanding. David Mamet is also very good, but his book “Secret Knowledge” is a tough read in some spots. Still worth the read, and very funny. Evan Sayet is a former lefty comedian that woke up after 9/11. He has some good speaches at Heritage and a funny act where he blasts leftist nutjobs. There’s actually a lot of resources out there.

Re: Obozo —> Been calling him that for years. As soon as I saw the light of truth about how stupid the man really is and what a clown he is.

Re: DumbocRAT —> means stupid rats. Remember to capitalize the RAT. It makes the point clear!

Keep on blasting the lefties. I find that it’s much more fun to be in the fight than it is to just be a spectator or to go back and forth with people I already agree with. I’ve come to enjoy their vitriolic comments back to me. Dare I say, I’ve also made some “virtual friends” with a couple of them.

          Have a nice day!

      • Jon

What a self-important idiot.. The ‘DumbocRATic’ party is socialism while the Repulsive party is, what? The answer to America’s woes? How come when you ‘dummies’ were running the Country nothing of the sort took place, instead you pulled out your handy credit card and used it for war games then when the bill came due you lateraled it to who ever was next in line knowing full well that it would take more money just to keep our noses out of the water THEN blamed the Dems for over-spending.. What psychotic creatures you Repulsives are.

        • pennrandy

Uhhhh, look at Bush’s debt compared to Obama’s. Bush overspent, but not nearly to the extent Obama did. Democrats are clearly the wreckers of the economy. We have a credit crunch that is strangling the recovery because nearly all available credit is usurped to pay the interest on Obama’s debt, something that won’t go away quickly no matter who is president. That is the democrat’s fault. Republicans are the party of No because they resist crippling the economy further to pay for social programs that kill initiative and destroy minority communities and their ability to function in a capitalist society. Note: saying No is tough love, but it works and America needs more of that medicine before it can recover from Obamaitis. The cure is voting straight Republican in November.

I can assure you, there are a lot of Democrats in the ranks. The mission is still being carried out, despite the Republicans efforts to low ball the whole deal.

    • pennrandy

My dad was in the Navy so I respect your service to our country and will retire my use of the Take Our Country Back slogan. My apologies if it offended you. I was just trying to liven up the conversation, no disrespect intended. Thank you again for your service.

THERE WAS AN AMERICAN GEL. ON 60 MINUTES HE SAID WE HAD HIM TWICE BUT WASHINGTON WANTED AFG.TO TAKE THEM TO BY THAT TIME HE GOT AWAY THIS WAS AROUND 2005 OR 2007

  • micky07

If we as a country forget what the Bush administration(Republicans) did to the economy, and we elect the same sort of people to lead this country, then we deserve whatever devastation they decide to bestow upon us. Maybe there’s something too December 21.2012.

  • As per their usual routine, the republicans place politics above national wellbeing. Of course they are angry. Obama stole their thunder by doing what they were incapable of doing, i.e. getting bin Laden. The current GOP looks more like a bunch of whining children than a major political party.

  • If it had been a Repub president who engineered Bin Laden’s killing, they would have been crowing about it ad nauseum. What a bunch of sniveling cry-babies.

  • hubydoll166

Its a damn shame the GOP would belittle getting Bin Laden. Afterall, he wass the whole reason this whole thing started. Howler 65, you nailed it. When america is thrown under the bus by the GOP then its time for america to come to its senses. The GOP are only making themselves look very bad by denying the president anything and everything. The GOP carry the flag of SHAME.

It’s about time we fought back and I am not at all surprised to hear the GOP complaining. There moral center is around their feet of clay

    DISTRACTIONS………. DISTRACTIONS…………….. DISTRACTIONS……..

BH Obozo has had a sum total of 1 (one) success. Ordering the killing of OBL. That’s it. There is nothing else in 4 years. Nothing. And even that isnt really as big a deal for him as it is for the soldiers who actually did the mission.

Lets take a look at some of Obozo’s other “successes”…….

    1) Obozo comes into office $9T in debt. 3 years later, $16T in debt
    2) 2 years complete control of the government. NO budget as required by the Constitution. Still has no budget. The one budget he presented that was actually voted on by the Senate wend down to defeat by a vote of 97 to 0. Nice work Mr. President!!! THAT IS an accomplishment!
    3) A new bankrupting entitlement program called Obozocare jammed through congress against the vast majority of Americans who were against it (and still are) and with the blessings of the idiot Nancy Piglosi who said “we have to pass the bill before we know what is in it”. And after all that, the crowing achievement of this president will be struck down like a rabid dog by the SCOTUS. Nice work, Mr. President!
    4) Persistent unemployment that has been the worst since the Great Depression, especially among blacks and young people. His administration keeps claiming unemployment is going down, but in reality, they manipulate the formula by reducing the # of jobs available. And then they claim that over 8% unemployment is good! Quite an accomplishment in propaganda, but not economics, Mr. President.
    5) Promises to close Gitmo…. instead, he spends $750K on a soccer field for terrorists. Dont get me wrong, Gitmo should stay open. This is an example of how stupid and naive Obozo really is. Nice accomplishment, Mr. President!
    6) Gas prices are up 100%++ across the nation. And Obozo is so dumb he actually believes that increasing supply has no effect on prices… what an idiot! Blocking EVERY permit that has come before his administration and blocking pipelines that increase supplies does HAVE consequences, Mr. President. Gas prices are through the roof! Nice going Mr. President!
    7) Real inflation rates are close to 8% or higher. Who measures inflation without food and fuel??????? Obozo does! Another strong achievement in propaganda, Mr. President!
    8) SOLYNDRA!!!!!!!! need I say more? OK, I will. SOLAR TRUST… another BILLION DOLLAR boondoggle in your attempt to play venture capitalist with taxpayer money that actually goes to your FAT CAT financier friends who are big donors. Nice money laundering accomplishment, Mr. President!
    9) Fast and Furious!!!!! If this was a Republican Admin, all of you nutjobs that write on this web site would be going justifiably ballistic!! It would be the lead story on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSLSD, CNN, etc. etc.

I’ll continue to refocus the discussion on what is important and not these foolish smokescreens the left throws up to obfuscate Obozo’s true failure as a socialist in the White House.

    Have a nice day!

    • Tarman11

      One accomplishment, eh?

      1. He inherited an economy that was hemorrhaging jobs and turned it into one of positive job growth for 24 straight months now.
      2. He passed a stimulus package that prevented a major recession from becoming a depression.
      3. He ended the war in Iran, the single worst foreign policy blunder in U.S. History.
      4. He prevented the closure of General Motors and Chrysler.
      5. He bravely chided the Supreme Court for their horrid decision in Citizen’s United and will bring forth legislative reforms to campaign finance in his next term.
      6. He has improved relationships with allies throughout the world and helped to reign in Chinese adventurism in the Pacific.
      7. He worked cooperatively with a coalition of nations to rid the world of Ghaddafi, a man with a great deal of American blood on his hands.
      8. He signed equal pay for equal work legislation despite massive Republican opposition.
      9. He borrowed Republican principles for an individual mandate to pass comprehensive healthcare legislation. In doing so he sought to eliminate our status as the only first-world nation to lack some form of guaranteed individual care, a goal sought by virtually all U.S. Presidents for decades.
      10. He sought to make this a country where the penalty for lacking health insurance could no longer be bankruptcy or death.
      11. He has prevented any sort of major terrorist attack on our country.
      12. He is providing for an end to the War in Afghanistan.

I’d say he’s off to a good start, and hope for even greater successes in his second term.

      • ObozoMustGo

Tarman…. you are good useful idiot. Copied that right off of the Obozo 2012 campaign website, didnt you?

        1. There is no positive “job growth” you idiot, unless it’s government jobs. Here are some FACTS:
        – Unemployment only measures people who WANT to work and cant find work. There were 8 million of those when Bush left office. There are 14 million now.
        – There’s an additional 20 million today that were unemployed during Obozo’s tenure but who have given up looking. They are categorized as “not looking” and are therefore NOT counted in unemployment figures.
        – True unemployment is somewhere in the 15% range. Nice work, Obozo!
        – 135 Million either work, or are looking for work. 85 Million are NOT.
        – Only 52% of Americans pay any Federal Income Tax now, 48% do NOT. That’s real fair, isnt it?
        – Bush increased the number of Americans that dont pay income taxes from 35% to about 45%. Obozo is making that worse. Both are absolute disasters fiscally.

Basically, Obozo is transforming our nation into a country that no longer wants to work, but instead we are becoming a nation of people that believe they are entitled to “benefits”. We are rapidly approaching the point where more than 50% of the population will know that they can “vote for a living” and guarantee themselves continued access to the public treasury.

        2. There is no such thing as a “stimulus” package. Only a fool does not recognize that the government is only spending your future earnings that YOU must pay back. And it was only spent on union kickbacks anyway. You must be happy that the “stimulus”/kickbacks to the unions will partially end up in Obozo’s pocket, right?

        3. There is NO war IN IRAN, you idiot! Not yet, at least. You probably meant Iraq, but we do have a considerable number of people there still.

        4. First off, that was started as a Bush thing, not Obozo, you moron! Second, it was BAD policy to socialize their BAD business decisions and put the costs on taxpayers. It was wholly unnecessary. Witness Ford!

        5. A president “bravely chiding” the SCOTUS? You call that an “accomplishment”? You are really digging the bottom of the barrel, now, arent you?

        7. Hmmmm… where to begin on this one? You mean with Obozo’s illegal war where he stuck up his middle finger at Congress and said he doesnt need their approval? You mean, the complete hypocrisy displayed by ignoring the murder of innocent civilians in Syria or Iran? Nice “accomplishment” Obozo!

        8. He signed a bill that says nothing and does nothing is an accomplishment? How stupid are you? Wait… dont answer that. There’s more….

        9. Calling the “individual mandate” a “Republican principle” is the biggest misleading lie going on out there. And it’s not an accomplishment anyway, you dope! You’ve hit rock bottom on your list, and you continue to dig. Shame!

        10. He “sought to [fill in the blanks with anything]……” is NOT an accomplishment. I sought to win the Power Ball lottery once. That’s not an accomplishment. Keep digging, dear useful idiot!

        11. “He’s prevented any sort of “major” terrorist attack” is an outright LIE unless of course you are shading the truth by what you define as “major”. What was the Fort Hood shooting? I suppose a Muzzie going off with gun fire in a crowd and shouting “alahu akbar” is just a normal every day work frustrated guy, right? Yeah, rite. Sure sure! An underwear bomber that failed himself, but was not caught. Obozo did that, right? The failed bomb in Times Square that did not ignite properly. That one Obozo stopped, also, didnt he? Your an idiot of monstrous proportion if you can make that statement!

        12. So “providing for” an end to the war is an “accomplishment”? Are you kidding yourself? How stupid are you? Anyone could say the same exact thing about Bush. It’s a nebulous opinion of a situation, not an “accomplishment” you stone cold moron!

Hope this helps clarify your misconceptions. I know it wont because Obozo is your messiah and leftist nutjob ideology is your religion. But maybe one sane person will read this and say it’s a fair assessment.

        Have a nice day!

          Dearest Bozo:

How lovely to see that your rudeness is a perfect complement to the intellectual challenges you confront. Your erroneous “facts” and misguided opinions are unworthy of further comment, but you go ahead and waste some more time; it is likely a habit of yours. When you get some free time, you might want to study some history. I’d suggest you research the period from roughly the 1890s through the 1920s to get some perspective on the challenges we confront today.

I’m not happy with where the country is today, but I’m quite certain it is a far cry better than it would have been with 4 more years of a Bush or McCain or Romney. The pendulum is in need of a move back to the center, and Obama is by ant rational measure very much a centrist in policy. That he appears to some to be too far left is merely indicative of the Republican party’s ultra right-wing radicalism.

I’m sure you won’t be able to resist the impulse to respond to this in your signature rude and inane manner. I however, am through with you, though I may think of you when your Etch-a-Sketch candidate is trounced this November.

          Have a wonderful life!

          • ObozoMustGo

Thank you Tar! I can help cure you of your leftist nutjob ways, if only you are willing to admit you have a problem. I am here to help when you request it, my friend.

            Have a nice day!

Tarman11, don’t waste your time arguing with ObozoMustGo. He is a right-wing Tea Partier who logs in and throws a bunch of BS around so he can show his Tea Party handlers what a good little boy he is. They pat him on the head and hand him his next page of talking points. Anyone who disagrees with him is labeled an idiot. It’s is a waste of your time and effort to reply to him.

    • The One

      ObozoMustGo,

Do you remember why people called the Republicans, “The Party of No?” It’s because it’s the only word they said during Obama’s first 2 years. They completely ignored their constituents and pulled every trick in the book to defeat anything worthwhile the President wanted to accomplish.

Now, after 3 years of doing nothing constructive, Romney and his ilk think they can BS their way back into to good graces of the people they were supposed to be representing. The people didn’t like being ignored, especially since they pay their representatives salaries. Hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs because of that. I don’t think they will likely forget.

I won’t vote for Romney anyway, because he belongs to a religion that denied me admission to their great Cathedral in Utah, because I wasn’t a Mormon. I had just gotten finished driving about 1600 miles to sing at a friend’s wedding. I spent the wedding sitting in my car with the AC on. How can I depend on a man who claims he wants transparency in everything, when his own Church has none. What’s the big secret? It’s a Church! Is there a Secret Handshake, Secret Decoder ring, what? I find it interesting that I have never been refused admission to any other church, anywhere in the world, before or since. Not even in communist countries! Who’s going to run the country, Romney or his church? Thankfully, we won’t get to find out, and all the A-kissing in the world won’t undo all the damage and expense. You bums took care of the rich and ignored the poor and middle class, so you are now going to pay for your sins! You lose in November!

It’s not for Ten…. that crack pipe is waiting for you!

      Have a nice day!

      • ObozoMustGo

Do you forget that Obozo had COMPLETE control over the entire government for 2 YEARS? The only thing he did was Obozocare and 63% of Americans HATED IT and still do!

Do you forget that following his complete control, America went to the polls and changed the Congress in an unprecendented wide and sweeping change of control?

Do you recognize the November 2010 was all about PUTTING A THROTTLE ON OBOZO’S AGENDA? America got a taste of Obozo’s sheet and wanted NO MORE!

As to Romney’s religion… I dont care what religion he is. That’s his business, you religious bigot! And them not letting you in their building… While I disagree with them, they have the rights of free association just as you do and if they dont want you in their building, too friggin bad, you’re not getting in. You’re disgusting, you bigot!

        Have a nice day!

  • NO respectable, honest or thinking person could be a republican.

  • NO respectable, honest or thinking person could be a republican.

  • Mitt Romney said it wouldn’t be worth the billions of dollars it would take to take out Bn Laden. I think it was but I don’t think it was worth the trillions of dollars it actually took to take out Saddam Hussein. Does Mitt think so, would someone ask him?

It’s amazing the audacity of the GOP. Obama should absolutely highlight getting OBL (no aircraft carriers involved) – can you imagine what would be said if the mission failed and a bunch of dead SEALs came home instead? The etch-a-sketch is indeed shaking… vigorously. And not just in political positions, but now in history??? Do the republicans, as I used to count myself, really believe their party members to be so stupid and forgetful that these lies won’t be caught? That if mistruths and misstatements are repeated often enough with rigorous conviction that the masses will forget and believe? That’s insulting and every American, especially republicans, should be offended. It’s time for the democrats to be loud and forthcoming with the truth, complete with sound bites and video, to remind the masses. Call out the lies and the liars (and don’t forget that idiot congressman that called Obama a liar – he needs to be publicly pilloried as well.) They’re not trying to re-write history, they’re messing with memory!

  • jlelandthomas

I never have under stood why Republicans have to lie about what is factually happening instead they do this and then believe that America believes it the one that vote republican just vote or really do not know better as they watch the Nation sink under their control .I hate to say it after Romney said it .THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE but in his case it just made him sink deeper into his DO DO. We got Bin Laden as John Kerry said we can do with out crippling Soldier’s that go for word and serve our country serving the Republics way was the way to go .Most of us know that we have the power and smart boys to do the job better than the way Busch did us .We did not have to loose so many live’s and limbs and even go after the wrong one .The one he got is not the one that was a threat to us but his family and used our country to do it I believe that and that is what power in the inmature hands does /It destroy’s and not build

It’s a shame republicans refuse to admit they caused this country to go down because they only were thinking about the wealthy pockets. Not the working people who really make this country work… Yes we as voters need to vote them out & limit how long any politician stay in office. If a president is restricted to 2 terms what about all the other elected offices. we the American people/voters should make a stand & stop to those who get elected, do nothing & stay there til they died. I tired of these fools who got so much mouth & do nothing . limit them 2 terms, in any elected office. then watch how things turn around. McCain need to go sit his sorry butt down & keep his mouth shut he has not did one thing for vets. He’s 2 faced…

  • hOW RIGHT HOWLER65 IS!!!!ALL THAT BULL FROM CHENEYAND BUSH ABOUT HOW COWARDLY THE DEMOCRATS WERE. NOW WHAT!!!!!

  • The truth exposed. Hooray.

  • The republicans are like children, i want to do it but you cant…they also seem to think everyone was born yesterday and forget their actions just a few short years ago. I remember bush was the only president that has kept us safe, and we needed to reelect him for this very reason…they are such little passivea aggressives!

  • Look these are the same people that pretend that President Obama got a better Economy than the one we have now, Or that the bush actions doesn’t still affect our current state or that the world were better off in 2008, than it is now! One have to void themselves of any form of reasoning to accept these thought processes as facts! Am i saying that the right have void themselves of thinking, umm YES!

  • BIN-LADEN is a self-proclaimed, demonstrated, and highly credible ENEMY of DEMOCRAT and REPUBLICAN alike. The magnitude of the hypocrisy on the American right is awe-inspiring–and the article did not even mention W’s “mission accomplished” fiasco, where he bragged about ending a war that really did not end by landing on an aircraft carrier–what a joke!

The GOP is reeling because Obama is kicking their tails on the economy (Dow about 8,000 when Bush handed him his train wreck) vs about 13,000 now, and he is also one the more hawkish President’s that we have ever had.

  • The GOP is so unhappy that they didnt get Usama themselves…..they mad at the world and others around them…they wanted to be the first ones to jump up and down and praise the Pakistanis for hiding him so long…GOP is a crock of S+++ and i dont mind telling you this…they is an angry white mob that just waiting to unleash on unsuspecting people…these people get scarier and scarier tactics everyday seven days a week….want to end your ss, want to end your medicare, want to end your life…is it any wonder why we cant acheive what we really need in this country and you think we are a free nation….rethink again !…..Come Quickly Lord Jesus !

The Right have nothing to run on and they don’t like it. The shoe is now on the other foot and will stop at nothing to stop the freight train of oustering their ranks, including a probable re-election of Barack Obama. The Rights answer is to blame Obama for everything, but don’t forget that it was their candidate, former President Bush that helped to get us into this mess in the first place. It took eight years of bad policy to get us here. It will take more than four to get us out. The sad truth is that the public has a short memory.

  • DushkaS

It’s quite amazing how openly Republicans conduct their ‘policy of envy’ against President Obama.
And they have the gall to call themselves patriots! They would give anything to reverse the fact that President got Ben Ladin killed. It is getting more clear by the day that they don’t have a serious issues to present. Romney behaves like a wooden robot and lies without compunction. Are people really convinced that he can lead this country? The world would get a shock if he wins by any chance.

  • Yeah, the Republicans really look bad on this one. I’m sure Romney was hoping no one would rememer what he said about not going after Ben Ladin. Well, President Obama reminded us about what Romney said — and I’m thankful to President Obama for reminding me!

  • democrats have always cleaned up what republicans mess up

    • I am going to make that into a bumper sticker, if you don’t mind.

  • Hey people,,its politics as usual! when has there been a time when mudslinging, dirty tricks, lies and deception has Not been on the agenda of both parties? No need to sit there with your jaw dropping in surprise.
What bothers me is the use of the American people as pawns like they are ignorant sheep going to the slaughter, all for the benefit of some self absorbed egoist wanting to run this country.
This is not a popularity contest to see who can tell the best jokes, lies, or dress the best!
Using Osama as a key point of a successful event to chalk one up for Obama is ridiculous. The man would still be alive????? LMAO The man was on a dialysis machine, had chronic illness and would have had to have close medical attention to stay alive. What about the seals that supposedly completed the operation of killing OSAMA? They are all dead.
Wake up people! Stop voting and handing over your loyalty to someone simply because they are your party affiliation, or dissing them because they are not. LOOK at the events in the world, LOOK at who is causing, taking credit, or blaming and how credible are they?

I will not vote for Obama. He is not credible at all. He talks a good talk, thanks to his teleprompter, but he can not walk the walk, unless it is on a golf course. He has sent enough taxpayer dollars abroad, taken enough vacations, overrid congress enough for his own will, bailed out enough corporations for some payback, does NOT salute our American flag, and lies at will along with Moochie. I see NOTHING constructive he has done for America at all despite the propaganda and claims he makes. But he makes many claims without documentation. He has told us all he will side with the muslims if push comes to shove here in America..WHAT THE HELL part of that dont you understand?
I have never heard a president in an inauguration speech admonish the American people to embrace and accept a particular religious or ethnic group…ever! I knew we were in trouble then, and I was deluded enough to vote for him!
Want socialism, He got it..all you can handle and a little more.

    • What you say would be interesting if ANY of it were true. Seems you can’t lie straight in bed.

      • CAThinker

Shes’ going to have more trouble laying anywhere if Obama is not elected. Setting aside discussion of the economy, the next President will get to pick at least one Supreme Court Justice, maybe two… If those seats are selected by a conservative, all you have to do is hide and watch while women’s rights get eroded into nothingness…

  • ObozoMustGo

    DISTRACTIONS………….. DISTRACTIONS…………. DISTRACTIONS……….

FACT: Obozo has done 124 fundraisers in his 3.5 years in office. The total number of fund raisers done by Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2 was 94!!!!! THAT’S ALL OF THEM COMBINED! Obozo has done a fundraiser about once every 10 days he’s been in office. And the taxpayers finance those trips, even though it is illegal for him to use taxpayer funds for political fundraising.

Obozo’s nothing more than a crooked Chicago thug! He must go!

    Have a nice day!

    • You must get the same talking points rush, sean and glen get. I am trying to decide which one you are. You don’t seem to be loony enough to be glen, nor bombastic enough to be rush, and you remind me a lot of sean. How you have the time to be on here as well, I don’t know. You probably have more lackeys on your staff than you admit to.

  • What do you all expect, for approximately ten years the GOP run the U S using fear tactics and now they have lost the grip of death that they have put over the nation. I will never for get how the Bin Laden tape was aired a day or so before the general election and Mr. Bush miraculous won. It even had word for the democrats and favored a Bush White House. That told me that he knew that MR Bush was not looking for him. and he knew that the Dems would have gotten me. That’s also why he did not like Mr Obama and publicly voiced his opinion. GOP use Bin Laden to scare American. GOP that was fear and you all see what happen. Now its DEM time let us release American from the jaws of Satan and Put the light of GOD back in AMERICA, Where the only fear we know is one From GOD. GOP love to cause panic, but they should note that every time they do some means, to cause Mr Obama to stubble he comes out on top. that is GOD having his hand on the Democratic leaders. God Bless America and The democratic leadership of our country. We shall over come.

  • No wonder we really have a congress of baboons with the republicans there. They make so much noise about nothing.

  • A little too late for Romney to put himself into harms way and join the Armed Forces. However he has a slew of young sons who are of military service age. We make decisions for war
now days which affect someone elses children, in large part the poor and middle class families children. Even the Royal family in Britain serves their country in the armed forces. I will become a fan of Romney and the rest of the one percent when I see their children in uniform, serving like I and so many other less than rich kids did when it was less than popular to do so. Tis time for Romney and his ilk to put their blood where their mouth is!

    • Good point. Romney, like George W. Bush, is basically a draft dodger. While W. was hiding out in the Texas National Guard, Romney escaped by being a Mormon missionary in France. At least Jimmy Carter (and George H. W. Bush), served in World War II. Before Romney criticizes Carter, he should remember that unlike Carter he’s never had the guts to serve his country.

Lets focus on the real issues, people. Here is an article written by Scott S. Powell regarding the real problem facing America. It’s not an R or D thing people, it’s a MATH thing!

This article was published on May 1, 2012 in the New York Post.

How US Debt Risks Dollar Doomsday
    By Scott S. Powell
    Tuesday, May 01, 2012

The US dollar is getting perilously close to losing its status as the world’s reserve currency. Should it cross the line, the 2008 financial crisis could look like a summer storm.

Yes, worries about insolvency in Europe dominate the headlines. Last week, Standard & Poor’s cut Spain’s bond rating to BBB+ — a clear sign that Europe’s financial crisis is far from over.

But America’s escalating debt problem is far more likely to precipitate a truly global crisis, because the dollar has for decades played such a central role in the world economy.

How bad is the US problem? Former Treasury official Lawrence Goodman recently pointed out that investors are shunning US bonds and notes; the lack of other buyers forced the Federal Reserve to buy “a stunning . . . 61 percent of the total net issuance of US government debt” last year. Like many others, he warns that ballooning debt puts the US economy at risk for a sharp correction.

But the even larger risk is the potential loss of the dollar’s “reserve currency” status — a key support of the world economy for the last four decades.

It started with the 1973 Saudi commitment to accept only US dollars as payment for oil, followed by OPEC’s 1975 agreement to trade only in dollars. Trading of other commodities came to be priced in dollars, reinforcing the dollar’s “reserve” status.

As a result, central banks worldwide have held onto large reserves of dollars to facilitate trade. That, in turn, has enabled the US to print much larger amounts of its currency, with seemingly little inflationary consequences. It’s also made it easier for Americans to import more than they export, to consume more than they produce, and to spend more than they earn.

But all that is changing rapidly.

A number of countries are abandoning the dollar for the Chinese yuan. Last December, Japan and China agreed to trade in yen and yuan. In January, the 10 nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations finalized a non-dollar credit agreement equivalent to $240 billion, strengthening their economies’ links with China, Japan and South Korea.

That same month, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao signed a currency-swap agreement with the United Arab Emirates, which holds 7 percent of the world’s oil reserves. Iran has agreed to accept rubles and yuan in trade with Russia and China, and now is trading oil with India in rupees and gold.

In late March, the China Development Bank agreed with its counterparts in Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa to eschew dollar lending and extend credit to each other in their own respective currencies.

With global demand for dollars falling, central banks around the world will inevitably reduce their dollar reserves. That selloff further weakens the dollar against other currencies and in turn drives up inflation.

All this comes as US federal debt is soaring, adding to concerns about the future value of that debt and of the dollar. It’s suddenly much easier to imagine a dollar collapse — which would be a highly unexpected occurrence, known as a “black swan” event. This would precipitate unprecedented disruption, because the dollar remains the world’s most important currency.

Let’s hope we can avert a global crisis triggered by reckless US government spending. What’s needed is new leadership in Washington with the courage to get our fiscal house in order and to defend the dollar against attack in a competitive global market.

Scott S. Powell is a Discovery Institute senior fellow.

No president is perfect. I don’t understand why Bush wasn’t able to get bin Laden earlier. I heard of many near misses and tip-offs where Bush almost got him and at one point thought they probably did, but cannot answer exactly why Bush failed to get bin Laden like he should have. He will have to answer that one. I cannot. I don’t believe Bush has ever addressed that question and doubt that he will so we may never know the answer to that. It may have been simple bad luck. I know he tried and came close several times.

    • Bush is responsible for 9/11 happening in the first place. It happened on his watch, even though he and Condoleeza Rice had advance knowledge that there was going to be attacks in a Memo from Clinton’s former Terrorism Chief.

  • pennrandy

One Percenters never invest in anything without checking the available resources, one of them being demand. Only the 99% invest in products with no demand. One Percenters are One Percenters because they know better. Anyway, demand is a resource like water is to a hydro-electic plant. Water doesn’t create the electricity by itself, the hydro-electric plant does and it is the One Percenters who make the plant and thus create the jobs. One Percenters harness the resources to create jobs, 99% do not. They are the One Percent because they earned it. We need to learn to appreciate them instead of driving them to take their investments and jobs overseas.

    • How do you propose this country create demand? If there is none…no jobs right?

  • So, bozo, why do you swim here? Do you think insulting people will win converts to the radical rightists, or are you just masochistic?

  • So, why do you swim here? Sheer masochism?

  • Ray

As a independent I think all you should remember that Obama did have the intelligence system Bush used to get info on the terrorists. (even tho I never liked bush) Which in turn did help in getting Binladen. Also on howlers65 comment on electing more democrates, I think I’ll skip from voting for any socialist democrates. All we need more socialist democrats to step up the heavy corruption going on.

  • pennrandy

I’m starting to get that more than I let on in my earlier posts. You are very perceptive. I tend to goo 100 mph into anything I do. All commitment or nothing. I was very hurt and disappointed when I was a democrat. I will give my Republican views a try. I have been asked to consider running for a state House seat but I am having some problems with the views of some of the local Tea Party supporters. I am all Free Enterprise, but some people read beyond that and seeing some neo-nazi bs in one of their houses last week really rattled me. I am trying to find a pure Free Enterprise, pro-liberty stance independent of both fascism and socialism. I realize it will quite a trip to find what I seek, but like everything I do, I am committed 100% to it. Thanks for understanding.

    • Tarman11

Pennrandy: I think your intentions are sincere, but misguided. Capitalism is not a cure-all; it must be held in check by government. Clearly, capitalism is the best economic system ever created for generating wealth, and when mechanisms are in place for the equitable and rational distribution of that wealth, then it is a great system. But without proper regulation, various deleterious consequences are not only possible, they are inevitable. Among these are the concentration of wealth and capital into fewer and fewer hands and the creation of financial instruments that further concentrate this wealth. Further, if improperly regulated it can allow for environmental catastrophes that per a purely capitalistic model are simply a cost of doing business.

Microeconomic theory can easily explain why a CEO can earn $10,000 per hour, while the entry level worker in that company earns $10 per hour. It can explain it, but it cannot morally justify it. Poverty and hunger simply should not occur to the extent that they do in a country with so much wealth.

Some of these troubling trends have been occurring in this country for several decades. Real incomes of the middle and working classes have not increased since the 1970s, while the very rich have realized exponential growth in wealth. If the disparities in wealth become too great, or too many are denied the opportunity to achieve the American dream, the whole thing can crumble. That serves the interests of no one, rich or poor.

      • pennrandy

Very well stated. I sense I am speaking to a professor or otherwise learned man. If I wanted to pursue your line of reasoning further, where do you suggest I look? I don’t mind research and like to explore lines of thought that intrigue me. Your comments intrigued me, so, where can I go from here?

        • Tarman11

There’s too much to recommend here. I suggest that you make the effort to read things that you don’t agree with. Read folks with opposite perspectives and draw your own conclusions. Look at Ayn Rand novels – they are terrific even though I disagree. Check out the philosophies of Milton Friedman and the Chicago School of economists. Learn some of the principles of John Maynard Keynes. But also read Karl Marx.

A nice economics book I remember from decades ago was “Economics and Social Choice.” Godfrey Hodgson is a wonderful writier of recent American history. If there is a college in your area look at a syllabus for a course on late 19th or early 20th century American history. Studies of “The Gilded Age,” the roots of the American labor movement and working conditions under the early industrialists are very informative, and help to frame some of the issues we confront today.

Be careful though. The more you learn, the more you’ll want to learn. Good luck.

Bravo! Very well articulated! Yes, it’s the concentration of the wealth that is worrisome. One need not look too far to see that trickle down does not work – if it did, Mexico would not be a third world country.

What is interesting to me is that the electorate tends not to vote in their best interest; that middle class voters don’t vote for the party that supports the middle class. The republicans seem to only serve the rich (whether individuals or corporation), but they seem to capture the interest and the vote of individuals that don’t benefit from the same policies. It doesn’t make sense unless you buy the myth that opportunity is wealth; and in the land of opportunity everyone has the opportunity to join the 1%… Some day. So because you might one day be in the 1% you need to support policies that favor the 1%. I believe in America and support the idea that there is opportunity, but the reality is that 1% is a statistic, so the likelihood of anyone not already in the 1% to join the 1% is very, very narrow. Even though a guy can dream, he ought not to vote on that.

        • Tarman11

I think that in reality everyone does vote in what they perceive to be their best interest. The baffling thing to me is how anyone but the very rich or the ulrta social conservatives think that voting Republican is in their best interest. Clearly it is not. The reality is that the spinmasters on the right have just kicked the butts of Dems for decades. It’s why I view Karl Rove as the second most dangerous person in America, surpassed only by Grover Norquist.

The other sad thing is that the concept of economic mobility has become little more than a myth in recent times. Most of Europe has far greater economic mobility than does the U.S. Here, more than at any time in our history, if you are born poor you are likely to die poor, and if you are born rich you are likely to stay that way.

I say “God Bless our President”. I live in a conservative San Diegan community and everyone here is celebratin by tying balloons on fences and all over. The Repulicans are sore losers, but I guess I would be too if I destroyed an innocent country like Iraq, and used the lame excuse was that they were going after BinLaden and his Al queda.
Speaking of lame excuses, they are coming after us elderly people next. They think they can solve the national debt crisis, by puting down the disabled and elderly. What a pathetic situation we have in our country.

    • CAThinker

Seconded from a fellow San Diegan…

  • I was raised in a Republican family and voted Republican most of my life. I think todays Republicans have been corrupted by greed and the lust for power. They have lost their ideals and no longer represent American values. They cater to big corporations and a small clique of the wealthy elite. The GOP should condemn what it has become.

  • mike112769

Right. I’m sure if Osama had been found under Bush, he would have been killed just as quickly. I am frankly amazed that anybody still supports Obama. Both parties aren’t worth a nickel. I vote the man. Last election, I voted for Obama. His disgraceful execution of his duties as our President has ensured that I will not vote for him this November. For the first time in my life, I am ashamed and embarrassed of my President. I feel like a fool for voting for falling for his lies and voting for him. If he knew anything at all about Fast and Furious, he should be impeached along with his AG holder. If he did not know about it, he should be impeached for incompetence. I will vote for a clinically brain-dead republican in life-support before I will vote for Obama. Four more years of his lies will put the final nail in America’s coffin.

    Anybody but Obama in 2012.

    • Goodforall

You are so right! This is the only thing the Fake in Chief has to tout-at least you have learned your lesson.

  • mike112769

I don’t care what Robert had to say. I liked your comment. I agree with you that both parties are in desperate need of an overhaul. I also agree that the republican party is MUCH more likely to be what we need over the next four years. Obama’s new slogan, “Forward”, has been used beforeby communist parties.

I have never been afraid to learn and love research. Economics and Social Choice by Jack Nickson it is then. I just ordered a hardcover copy of the 1974 second edition from Abe’s books for a total of $6.71 to buy and ship. I tried reading Karl Marx’ Capital, but it was hard slogging and I gave up. The man is so dull, I have no idea how he incited a revolution. Lesson: never underestimate the power of nerds and policy wonks. I have always loved Milton Friedman ever since his My Turn column in Newsweek many years ago when he proposed a graduated flat tax (graduated for the poor, flat for the middle class and One Percenters, although they weren’t called at the time). Always made sense to me, but it seems like it will never happen. I will look up Godrey Hodgson. Thanks for the recommendations.

I have no idea what you are referring to. You reference nothing and yet hope to make sense. Of all the self-righteous bs I read on this site, your comment is the most ridiculous. I try to give credit to people, but you are just being stupid. At least I have beliefs and try to express them. Your comment is nothing but drivel. Just what one would expect from a dumbocrat. I used to be a democrat and then grew up when I began dating a former student of mine and realized she was smarter than I was and began learning what Republicans REALLY stand for. What’s your excuse?

    • There are a few words that make any rational person stop reading: “libtard,” “obozo” “rethug” and “dumbocrat” are but a few. It’s just an indication that the writer has strong opinions for no apparent reason.

    Becky,

Actually I believe Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9/11, not George Bush or Condie Rice. Being told that our intelligence servicesw could discern activity that may result in an attempted attack is not the same as knowing where, when, how, or who would be mounting the attack. One can get their defenses up, but without knowing the particulars there is still only so much one can do and al Queda was able to find a way around our defenses. It would have still happened if Al Gore had been elected. I always believed that the people who pull the trigger deserve the blame and in this case that is Osama bin Laden, not George W. Bush. The changes the Bush administration enacted has successfully undermined al Queda, led to eventual killing of bin Laden and have kept America safe ever since 9/11. The Bush administration deserves far more credit than it receives for stopping terrorism in its tracks after 9/11.

  • nice piece Joe!

Sonjad – Thanks for the hug. But I am female (LOL) 63 yrs old legal Immigrant (40 yrs in US and Citizen) and I have traveled the world (my job Int’l trade and translations) and I know how it’s in the world. Some people never left their hometown and state but voice their so called Expert opinions like they have been there and saw it. SAD. Listening to Faux News, Rushie, Hannity, etc is their daily diet of BS and they speak BS. It’s said. While in Taiwan one of the customers told me. I think most of the Republicans in US and are Timothy Mc Veigh. Yes, the world is watching and laughing and they shake their heads on stupidity of some Americans and how cheap they are. Sad isn’t it???

Seriously though, I need to know what it is you think is stupid before I can explain anything. Thanks for responding. As long as we can dialogue, then I can get my message out and convert you to a fiscally responsible course of action. We cannot continue to build on Obozo’s historic mountain of debt and use up all available credit just to finance the interest payments so the country doesn’t literally default to its creditors (i.e. China and other nations). Using up all available credit for interest payments is why there is so little credit available to build or even sustain our weak recovery. We need to pay down our debt so we can release more capital into our banking system to stimulate an actual recovery. We are going to capture Congress and the White House this November anyway because people are tired of Obozo’s failures to straighten out the economy stupid and provide jobs to the 99%. It would just be better to have you on the winning side. Think about it and if you want a strong economy with more jobs and growth, then please join us. I have a Tea Party Express registration form with your name on it waiting for you!

I don’t agree with everything any party does and was a dumbocRAT myself for 32 years before waking up to fiscal responsibility, so I understand your comments as well as feel your pain. I believe the Tea Party Express and Republicans have a much better overall track record and will be far more fiscally responsible than my previous party, the dumbocRATS. I support the best options available and realize they are not perfect, but they are the best.

    So to answer your questions:
I like anything that helps health care although I believe we overpaid for medicare part D. Every time I see my 88 year old mother who is surviving on almost no income at all be able to get the medicine she needs at a rate she can afford, I thank God for George W. Bush and his attention to senior citizens in supporting medicare. Some programs actually work and it isn’t a surprise when it turns out that they are the Republican sponsored ones.

As for the wars, the world is far better off with Saddam Hussein out of the way, so I don’t understand why dumbocRATS don’t realize that. The Republican sponsored surge worked and Iraq has to rebuild, but at least it has a chance to do that now without one of the worst despots in history interfering. As for Afghanistan, bin Laden is now dead after set up the efforts that insured the destruction of al Queda that Obozo is now taking the credit for. Again the world is better off now with another terrorist no longer around and thank you President Bush for building the intelligence infrastructure that made that happen, and even to Obozo for making the no-brainer decision to actually try to get him when it was handed to him on a silver platter. A silver platter that President Bush made possible. Now that bin Laden is gone and we have done everything we can to help Afghanistan, we can get out and start saving the money it cost to wage war there. I look forward to the savings helping our economy instead of Afghanistan. I look forward to seeing the results. No Saddam Hussein and no bin Laden. The price was high, but we can now move on and feel good that we have made the world a safer place.

Actually I did complain when Haliburton was awarded the largest non-bid contract in US government history. I believe in the bid process and burned my legislators’s ears on that issue. I don’t mind that a distinguished, results-oriented company like Haliburton got the contract, but believe that if they had to bid on it, we could have received the same services at a cheaper price. I say bid on it! I believe we agree on this one.

Yes both parties are responsible for the debt, but simple math will show that the deficit is mostly the fault of Obozo and the dumbocRATSs. Republicans are responsible for roughly 25% of the debt and Obozo for 75%, so it is easy to see where most of the blame falls. McCain/Palin would never have run up the debt so high and our country today would be far better off had they been elected. Governor Romney is not perfect, but he is a far better choice than Obozo and if we are serious about fixing the economy, then the first step is ensuring his election, which will be best for all parties. That will happen in November regardless, but it would be better if you joined us on the winning side. There is an application to join the Tea Party Express with your name on it if you would like to join us and I would be the first to welcome you to the party of fiscal responsibility.

No tax increases. Ever. Tax and spend has been proven ineffective at every level, however, I would be in favor of tax reform such as a graduated flat tax like Milton Friedman proposed many years ago (graduated tax rates for the poor, flat tax for the middle class and rich). Everyone needs to feel they are paying a fair share and that no one is getting preferential treatment. A flat tax will do that and a graduated flat tax will be fair to the poor as well and more revenue will be available to the government to handle Obozo’s debt (75 %) that he incurred in 3 years and the Republican debt (25%) that they incurred in 8 years. It is the best we can hope for. If anyone has a better solution, I would love to hear it.

BigSpender, In what way? I need specifics on what is confusing you before I can respond intelligently. Simple math shows Obozo has racked up most of our debt in just three years. There are numerous ways to show that and no journalist would deny it. The fact that we have to pay interest on all that debt is obvious, so there should be no confusion there. It is common sense that the more credit we use to pay the interest payments to the countries that fund our debt, the less money is left over for U.S. companies to expand, which is choking our recovery. If you disagree, then please explain how companies can expand without credit? If you think about these things, you will realize the colossal failure of Obozo’s regime and vote Tea Party Express or Republican in November. We will win regardless, but it would be better to have you join us on the winning side! Confusion resolved? If not, then I will need more specifics if I am to help you reach a fiscally responsible position. I look forward to our future dialogue. There is a Tea Party Express registration form with your name on it waiting for you when you are ready for it.

Thank you for your insightful response. Immediately I will stop using Obozo and dumbocRAT. It is always difficult to figure out how to have fun with responses so they are actually interesting to read, yet not go overboard and turn off people to reading them. Insight like yours in necessary to figure out where the line is and I thank you sincerely for sharing your thoughts with me. Obozo and dumbocrat are now banished from my responses.

  • OH HOOOOOOOOOO; What is this?? Cynthia Tucker?? Leonard Pitts?? aaaaaaaaah, a new forum for FAILED liberal journalists; my, how quaint; this article is so full of lies and innuendos that I hope all can see why the respective journals these people write for are failing BIG TIME; as for Max Cleland?? that damn pervert was tossed because of that; HIS PERVERSION when he was our secretary of state here in Georgia;

Yeah, I have been pretty beat-up today. I will keep the faith though and preach fiscal responsibility. That message must get through no matter how much the Big Spenders hate it. Thanks for the kind words and support. Any thought on who Governor Romney will choose for veep?

Well GWB took his eye off him in 2003&went after Saddam&NEVER had the CIA spy planes look for Bin Laden even after Saddam was dead either like Obama did when he took office&It was a very guttie move on Obama to go in there since they weren’t sure if the tall guy in there was Bin Laden Just with the spy plane images since he stayed inside most of the time in the compound not going outside from what was said in the news coverage of the spying &raid to get him.

    Republicans suck pond water.

  • We all realize that there is political spin everywhere and that it is an unfortunate part of our political system. However, the current Republican contingent has carried it to new extremes (lows) with their simplistic sound-bite, black and white rhetoric and it drives me crazy that the Democrats never seem to counter it. These idiotic statements are plums, ripe for the picking that need to be taken advantage of.
