Benghazi: What New Details Reveal About The ‘Scandal’ — And Its Promoters

Share

In the years since the terrorist attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, his aide Sean Smith and CIA officers Tyrone Smith and Glen Doherty in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, President Obama’s congressional critics have complained long and loudly about his failure to apprehend the perpetrators immediately. Republican experts like Ted Cruz and Darrell Issa, along with the right-wing media machine, even insinuated that Obama might not really want to catch the Benghazi perps.

So when news came last weekend that US forces had picked up Abu Khattala, the chief suspect, in a long-planned secret raid, all the politicians who have proclaimed their anguish over the murders of our diplomatic and intelligence personnel ought to have been elated. They should have sent congratulations, if not apologies, to the White House.

But if the Benghazi tragedy has revealed anything, it is the utterly partisan obsession of those who have tried to stoke the “scandal.” So naturally, the same Republicans who have been preparing yet another Capitol Hill show trial – their  “select committee” to investigate Benghazi – were barely able to conceal the dismay they so obviously felt over Khattala’s capture.

It is astonishing to watch the long faces of these elected officials, who yield to none in their flag-waving super-patriotic posturing, when the Obama administration manages to neutralize a dangerous enemy of the United States. Their animosity toward the president always seems far more intense than their hatred of our country’s actual adversaries. It is equally remarkable to listen to their petty complaints and phony arguments, as they try in every instance to diminish his achievement.

In this particular instance – as the Republican “terrorism experts” on Capitol Hill, in Washington think-tanks and the national media undoubtedly know – the time required to nab the alleged Benghazi ringleader was fairly short. Remember that the Bush administration never managed to find Osama bin Laden for seven years following 9/11 – after seeming to allow the al Qaeda chief to escape from Tora Bora. Nobody heard a whining peep from the likes of Lindsey Graham or Darrell Issa over that “intelligence failure” – indeed, they appeared content to pretend, along with President Bush, that bin Laden truly no longer mattered. And former vice president Dick Cheney, author of all those failures, even invented a cheap reason to attack the president.

Finding and arresting terrorists abroad is almost always a long game, as proved in the 1998 African embassy bombings that killed a dozen Americans and hundreds of local employees in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.  That investigation entailed 15 years of hunting before Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai was finally grabbed by American forces last October – including eight years during which the Bush administration accomplished nothing, again without eliciting a word of recrimination from the Republicans who now criticize Obama incessantly. Evidently none of those critics thought the Ruqai arrest worthy of notice.

No doubt the Republicans will persist in their Benghazi inquest, without embarrassment – although everyone understands that it is nakedly aimed at Hillary Rodham Clinton, who worries them more than any terrorist could. But even as they brood and plot, the news proceeding from the Khattala arrest is even worse than they might have expected. Now that the alleged ringleader is in custody, the key element behind accusations of a White House “cover-up” is evaporating.

According to the Republican narrative, Ambassador Susan Rice was dispatched to recite misleading talking points about the Benghazi attack. In television interviews, she indicated that a video offensive to Muslims might be the underlying cause of the attack. The purpose was to suggest a spontaneous assault rather than a planned act of terror, which might contradict the president’s assertions, in the midst of the 2012 election, that his efforts had decimated al Qaeda.

The truth turned out to be more complicated than the guidance provided to Rice by the CIA. Terrorists, mainly from a Libyan gang known as Ansar al-Sharia, did participate in the assault on the U.S. diplomatic compound.

But The New York Times last weekend reported that Khattala told his associates he led the attack to “take revenge for an insult to Islam in an American-made online video.

“An earlier demonstration venting anger over the video outside the American Embassy in Cairo had culminated in a breach of its walls, and it dominated Arab news coverage. Mr. Abu Khattala told both fellow Islamist fighters and others that the attack in Benghazi was retaliation for the same insulting video, according to people who heard him.”

He made the same assertion on the record to a reporter for The New Yorker, while denying his own culpability.

So much for the Benghazi scandal, which was never much of a scandal at all: Whatever details may emerge in the months to come about the motives of Khattala, we already have learned all we need to know about the motives – and character – of the scandalmongers.

They will do that. There was the faux news reporter, the blond bimbo, who shows her upper thighs on television, made the statement about the timing of catching the perp was to promote Hiliary’s book.

That how they get the old white men to watch by having the females showing legs.

        1. plc97477 June 20, 2014

If that’s all it takes to get men to watch faux news I think I am looking forward to having a female in the white house.

Which blonde bimbo on Faux News? They’re all blonde bimbos that were hired for their looks not for their brains.

The GOP doesn’t have much or a positive program, other than pandering to the ultra-rich. To gather votes and donations from the rest of the American public, it has to be the party of outrage at any and everything the Democratic Party does.

  2. Eleanore Whitaker June 20, 2014

The only thing important to the GOP bulls today is to turn the House Majority into the presidency. Take down Boehner. He isn’t the President. He isn’t the President’s equal. He play acts at being No. 1 when he is No. 3 in line to the presidency.

caligrown..Time to take your meds? What about being elected twice don’t you get? You have NO right to defy the choices of your fellow Americans just because you didn’t get your way. Time for you to stop being an American Terrorist. Prove your citizenship. For all we know, caligrown is the name of a jihadist.

        And you are certifiable!

        1. S.J. Jolly June 20, 2014

Judging by postings I’ve seen over the years, a significant portion of the American public (at least those who blog) may well be certifiable.

          1. Eleanore Whitaker June 22, 2014

Not certifiable..Just well indoctrinated. Remember the type of indoctrination used during the Korean War? This is what media does today. Not a single media source publishes unbiased news..or for that matter, news as Walter Cronkite, Douglas Edward, Edwin Newman and Edward R. Murrow once had done. Americans with any common sense need to see that the minute Bush took office, Cheney not Bush was already into indoctrination of the Manchurian Candidate type. So they’ve rounded up all the most backward Americans with the least education and pour their propaganda into these feeble brains. Their biggest problem is the rest of us who absolutely refused to become a herd of sheep following after right wing radical destruction of our Government and our kids’ futures.

President Obama IS the president. What we have today are Middle Aged Twerps who refuse to accept that we have equal free will to choose the president WE, not they, deem best for this country.

IN the hands of this Twerpie Generation of ingrates who have lard asses and fatloaded brains, there would be NO government, only armed men showing ass in the streets and turning citizens into the pawns in their power games. This is why they appear so mentally ill.

          2. S.J. Jolly June 23, 2014

Indoctrinated, yes. But, in many of the cases, indoctrination is like pouring gasoline on a fire.

          3. Eleanore Whitaker June 24, 2014

I prefer to call it what it really is: Brainwashing. The enhanced interrogation techniques used by Today’s Robber Barons is no different than that of Henry Fricke, Carnegie’s Bad Boy Boss of steel workers. The only thing that has EVER dashed indoctrination and brainwashing is the one thing that no human can remove from another: free will. Even in those Russian camps, enslaved people found ways to circumvent rules. It’s part of human nature that cannot be controlled. This is the weak link in the right wing goal of taking over government and thereby creating a feudal society. Won’t work. The only other thing that would reduce humans to robots is mass lobotomies.

      3. jmprint June 20, 2014

And you are his daddy, so quit crying.

    2. Independent1 June 20, 2014

And the fact that Boehner is 2nd in line behind Biden to ascend to presidency should scare the pants off of every American. To even think there’s a possibility that this totally irrelevant jerk could become president is about as scary a thought as any enemy of America who may be plotting an attack should create in one’s mind.

    3. FT66 June 20, 2014

Am not quite sure how exactly the system works. Isn’t Boehner the Speaker of the House, if at all he is serious to work for the people, isn’t he not supposed to work closely with the President, instead of shouting: “where are the jobs, are you taking a napp”? These are not diplomatic words to come from a high ranking person like a Speaker. Is this man OK upstairs?

      1. Eleanore Whitaker June 20, 2014

Yes..That was the intention of the Constitution. Speaker Boehner like Gingrich who was forced to resign, chose to posture like a GOP czar. Gingrich’s Contract for America turned out to be his Contract ON America. Just like Boehner’s Path to Prosperity turned out to be his Path to Greed.

      2. idamag June 20, 2014

He is supposed to, but every time He tries to do something right, he hears the hammer click behind his ear. Those anti-government bullies; known as the t party, have scared the decent Republicans into falling into their camp.

      3. Dominick Vila June 21, 2014

He is trying to please his base, which seems to be more preoccupied with who is in the White House, than what needs to be done to strengthen our our economy, create jobs, and do everything we can to preserve our national security and protect our interests.
Their outrage is not based on facts, what is best for the country, or their record. Their positions are influenced by racial and cultural intolerance, ideology, and the belief that U.S. Presidents must represent only the interests of “conservatives” instead of the interests of ALL Americans. The fact that President Obama was elected and re-elected by a plurality of Americans who support him and his policies is inconsequential to them.

    4. onesetofeyes June 21, 2014

Can you imagine the bad guys reaction when they see him weep…

  3. ModDem67 June 20, 2014

The GOP cannot back down from anything they have been wrong about. Once they do one of two things will happen: 1. The grassroots GOP will realize they have been lied to and get rid of everyone. 2. The GOP grassroots will say the leadership is “standing with the President” and again get rid of them. It is a lose-lose scenario for the GOP leadership. In the process they are losing more and more moderates and hence will not be a relevant national party for some time.

I wonder why and how they can cry crocodile tears over Benghazi and claim negligence and incompetence and cover up, demanding to know where the President and the SOS was while all of this was going on when they never asked why and how 9/11 happened and where was the President and the National Security Advisor and the SOS, and what did they do with all of the intelligence of months prior.

The only thing Condi Rice has to say is that the intell did not include the date, time, place because, I assume, she needed an engraved invitation. Bush took his megaphone for the photo op and vowed to get the guys who did this, but, he never did.and finally admitted he could care less where bin Laden was, and then, made a joke of looking for WMDs under his Oval Office desk, as 4,000 lives were being lost in Iraq.

And all of their armchair criticism and recommendations now on what the President does wrong…everything….only reminds me of all that they did wrong….everything….McCain choosing an incompetent fruitcake to be a heartbeat away from his would-be Presidency; Lindsay Graham, the expert on all things militarily legal who thinks Gitmo is the best thing since white bread; and all of those kids in the House of Representatives who can’t tie their own shoes unless someone tells them to tie them and shows them how.

We will have to find a way to overcome all of the voting right disenfranchisement and keep these incompetents out of office. We can’t have our country’s issues decided by a pack who make decisions on behalf of 20% of the American population, simply because the districts have been gerrymandered.

Today, the official “Religious Freedom” conference is going on, the formal Taliban-Lite sect of the GOP. Yesterday, Ted Cruz was somberly intoning the dangers of our President, but he and his father lacked the courage and the guts to take their oratory to Cuba’s Castro, they fled like scalded cats.

What has Obama got to do with respect to how the attack was carried out? The office was a CIA detachment. Obama had no responsibility to do anything with respect to that attack; and that includes Clinton. It was the CIA’s responsibility to protect the office which they attempted to do but were unsuccessful.

And were you bringing up all these things about the 70 people who died in 13 attacks overseas when Bush Jr. was president? and how about the 60 who died in 12 attacks in 4 years when Bush Sr. was president?? Or how about the 300 who died when Reagan was president in 7 attacks – including one which was Clearly Reagan’s fault – the 241 Marines who died while they slept from a bombing.

And why was it Reagan’s fault – because it was Reagan who insisted that the guards at the gate to compound couldn’t patrol with loaded weapons. So when the truck carrying the bomb rushed the gate, they couldn’t stop it from crashing through the gate of the compound because the didn’t have time to load their weapons. This allowed the truck to get right up to where the Marines were sleeping before the driver detonated the bomb. Did you get as upset about those 241 Marines as you appear to be about these 4 in Benghazi??

And what about the 18 who died in 3 attacks on the consulate in Karachi Pakistan during Bush 2’s presidency – one of which was also a diplomat. Were you outraged by that too?? The three attacks occurred over a 3 year period during which the Bush Administration DID NOTHING to improve security at the consulate. HMMMM where was the GOP outrage on those attacks???

      1. idamag June 20, 2014

The NERVE of you voting for republican when all they want is to make sure that our world and economy is destroyed to make the president look bad, after all he was only suppose to be a one term president. Remember President Obama won by a landslide. So tell me how has this administration deceived you!

you must be one of them Democrats on the meat. I wouldn’t be so proud of supporting a socialist who out to destroy this country. Violated the constitution, opened our boarders to illegals and the children its gonna hurt every american thats not working for the government slick

    9. idamag June 21, 2014

And you are crying big crocodile tears for those four people and I have heard nothing, from you hypocrites, about getting the perps. Not one iota of outrage against those who committed the act.

  6. nana4gj June 20, 2014

Without a doubt, Intelligence of any kind, was not a strong suit of the Bush/Cheney crowd, or, “The Iraq Pack”.

They dismissed intelligence on 9/11, to start with. And, all the theatrics, spin, photo ops, and pontificating, for 8 years after, was all they did with that missed opportunity to avert the worst attack on American soil. Everything they did, following that tragedy, was political, how they could exploit it to win elections.

Intelligence was not a component of any decision made on addressing terror or anything else. The state of affairs they left as they all went into comfortable retirement could be seen as deliberate actions to destroy this country because how could everyone in an Administration be so wrong about so much that inflicted so much evil and harm on so many people?

They’re still doing it. They sound like the radical extremists calling for jihad on their government and their President. I’m not sure which one is worst, which is more threatening, the foreign terrorist groups who are like gang members of the absolute worst kind, or, an official political party with their own sects here at home that undermine the government, rant and rave and deliver diatribes, plot to usurp the elected President and who manipulate elections to secure high office, and who have the colossal nerve to tell us that this President is weakening our country and nurturing those foreign terrorists.

When they had the responsibility to deal with evil doers, show me one successful operation. Instead, they adopted the same tactics and became the evil-doers, themselves.

Quit playing the blame game and figure out what to do in real time.If the perps of 911 were treated like common criminals and tried in a courtroom after being mirandized, we would not know anything about who or what idiot!

      1. nana4gj June 20, 2014

The perps of 9/11 blew themselves up and were unavailable for mirandizing. We know who they were because of surveillance cameras in the places they frequented 24 hours before, at the airport prior to “take off”, and by finally looking into the flight class records that were ignored in the initial intelligence.

The new perps that are treated like common criminals are interrogated before their Miranda Rights are read to them and they are all incarcerated after being treated to the rule of law in this country. Those tossed into Gitmo have not and cannot be charged with anything, there is no evidence, just suspicion of nefarious associations. They will have to be released soon. Those incarcerated will not be released.

I will not call you an “idiot”, but, I think you are engaging in a bit of the “blame game” but lack the evidence to back it up. My evidence is part of what will forever by in history books, on the record, where, generations to come will be compelled to place “blame” as they study what not to do, having figured out all of the contributing factors to this decade that began with the failure of that Administration to intercept 9/11, and with every subsequent incompetent and devious decision made under the guise of 9/11.

      1. Independent1 June 20, 2014

You got it!! Obama has done the best job of any president since FDR.

He hasn’t started a war in almost 6 years.

He saved us from the GOP’s 2nd created world-wide depression by going through with the auto-bailout and stimulus (virtually every honest economist will tell you that).

Despite a GOP planned sabotage of our economy, he’s guided it such that there’s been over 50 months of job growth with more net jobs created than Bush could create in 8 years.

He’s rounded up and deported more troublesome illegal aliens than any previous president.

He actually caught and eliminated the guy that caused 3,000 people to die on 9/11 when the Bush Administration said getting him wasn’t necessary – and so they gave up.

His administration has pursued and eliminated more terrorists around the world than Bush or any other previous president.

The last 4 years have been BY FAR the safest for America’s overseas office with only a handful of attacks and 4 fatalities; while attacks and loss of life under the past 4 presidents (3 of them Republicans) were all far higher averaging over 10 attacks with more than 70 people being killed under each president (more than 3,000 under Bush 2).

The stock market has been at record highs for more than 2 years after it languished misserably for 8 years under both Bush’s.

Obama is the smallest spending president since Eisenhower with around 1.4%/yr budget increases compared to the last 3 GOP presidents who averaged over 6%/yr spending increases.

OBama can only be charged with less than 1 trillion in deficit increases over the past 6 years based on legislation he’s signed; all the other increases are attributable to the disastrous economy Bush allowed to happen to the nation. 3 GOP presidents – Reagan and the 2 Bushes are responsible for more than 93% of our current 17 trillion on debt.

Obama kept his promise to cut deficit spending in 1/2 during his 1st 4 budget cycles, reducing deficit spending from 1.4 trillion in Bush’s last budget to under 680 billion for 2012/13. He’s reduced deficit spending faster than any president since Truman.

Do I need to go on or have you seen enough to realize how totally asinine you’r post is???

        1. caligrown June 20, 2014

BO has done more site seeing than any other pres in history. Tax dollars pay for his vacations first pres to that, our economy has not grown it has diminished. BO is a job killer. No we haven’t gone to war but terrorism is about to come here..Are you kidding??? The stock market..It’s controlled by the few that control the money. The stock market is a ruse and if you’re going by that, you really are blind. He hasn’t cut any kind of spending, they’re rolling those printers 24/7..And let me add, he just happen to be in office when Bin was captured. He had nothing to do w/finding him!

Yeah, he’s doing a great job..he tells our enemies what we are going to do and our plans to pull out.
Oh, the bailout..Guess you haven’t heard, they are going bankrupt!

Like I’ve already suggested..WAKE UP and stop w/the blame of pres that was in office over 6 yrs ago….So NO, you haven’t done anything but allow me to see what danger we really are in with people w/mindsets like your’s backing this man

          1. Independent1 June 20, 2014

More lies!! Obama has by far taken the fewest vacations of any president in the past 50 years. He’s taken barely 100 days off over 6 years while Bush Jr. was away from Washington, mostly on vacation for more than 950 days during his 8 years – that’s 1/3 of his time as president away from the office. (Reagan took over 450 days in 8 years; Bush Sr. took more than 300 days off in 4 years.)

Bush spent more taxpayer money flying 78 times back and forth from Washington to his Texas Ranch than Obama has spent in all his travels. You have to remember that when a president travels for something other than official business, HE PAYS for everything but for transportation and what it costs to house and feed his security detail.

So when Obama goes to Hawaii, or to Martha’s vinyard, he pays for everything except getting there and housing his security detail. And in case you’re not aware, he also pays for all the expenses of the White House that are not the result of official business. So the president gets a bill every month for all the food used at the White House that was not used to entertain some foreign dignitary. So when he puts on special entertainment events that are not official government business, HE PAYS FOR EVERYTHING.

That’s why when the Carter’s left the White House, they almost had to file for bankruptcy.

Just in another comment, Laura Bush and their two daughters, traveled 3 times to Africa spending more money in those trips than Obama has spent in all his travels.

You GOP lovers are such clueless idiots. You’ll never learn will you!!!

          7. idamag June 20, 2014

Did you mean sight seeing? All generalities are lies, you know. What you should do is gather some facts. Take the last 10 presidents and compare days off. . Also, which facts make you think terrorism is coming here. It is already here. There are armed and dangerous groups that are trying to destroy Democracy as we know it. Racism? Oh yes. White Supremist Groups doubled when a Black man became president. If the few hoard all the dollars, will we need to print more for the many? Also, some credible facts and figures will go a long way to back up your spending claims. I would hazard a guess that you are not a well educated nor a well read person. Just parroting that which you have been programmed to say. “God so loved (note the word “loved) the world…” Your ugly rhetoric is not loving. It is mostly lies. The Ten Commandments does not say, “Thou shalt not lie,” it says, “Thou shalt not bear false witness.” So spreading a lie is bearing false witness. It also says, if you break one commandment you have broken them all. So quit pretending to be a Christian.

Thank you, Ida….couldn’t have said it better myself! These people are SO brainwashed by the RW news media, it’s impossible! They don’t bother to research the things they hear….they just willy nilly believe everything they are told despite being proven wrong! It amazes me!

Tell you what idiot!! How about sending out a letter to the millions of retired Americans (including me) whose 401Ks are tied to the stock market and tell them that the stock market is just a ruse. Tell them that they should return all the money they’ve recovered after the Bush years debacles which almost forced millions of retired folks onto the streets, and tell them they shouldn’t be living so well these days because their 401ks are once again back where they have enough money to live comfortably on. Go ahead!! Tell all us retired folks who are once again comfortable in our retirements that the stock market is just a ruse!!

Idiots like you need to go find a desert island in the middle of the Pacific and move there and leave America to sane people. And don’t let the door hit you on the way out!! Get lost will you!!!

          11. BillP June 22, 2014

First you need to go back to school and learn how to spell correctly – “deffinately should be definitely and site seeing -should be sight seeing unless you meant President Obama surfing the net”

Second “The stock market..It’s controlled by the few that control the money. The stock market is a ruse and if you’re going by that, you really are blind” it’s you who are blind and stupid. Anyone who has some type of retirement plan 401K, IRA, SEP or others has seen their values go up really well in the time that Obama has been the president especially when compared to his predecessor.

Third “Oh, the bailout..Guess you haven’t heard, they are going bankrupt” who is actually going bankrupt? How about some provable facts instead of your typical inane rants and blather.

          12. dpaano July 1, 2014

Boy, have you been brainwashed! You are so full of BS…it amazes me that you have a coherent thought at all (and you don’t). You believe EVERYTHING the GOP tells you even when they’ve been proven wrong so many times! It’s pretty sad. As for the president taking a vacation…..ex-President Bush took over 300+ days of vacation just in the first 4 years of his reign……President Obama has taken less than most presidents before him. Do your research and quit allowing others to infect your brain! Additionally, the president pays for his own vacation expenses, except for the Secret Service agents and Air Force One, both of which are mandated by the Constitution!

      3. elw June 20, 2014

So to you when someone pushes the importance of voting it makes Democracy a Joke? I do think people like you are crazy, but notice I suggested to everyone to let you yell and instead to express themselves by voting. Both of which are constitutional rights I deeply believe in. The fact that you resent that, says a lot more about you than me. It why I can so easily laugh at you and also why I work so hard to get people around me to vote. BTW, it is not President Obama who is passing laws that block the ability of people to vote, it the very same crazies who keep pushing made up scandal to distract people from the real issue that this Country faces. And, YES President Obama has done fantastic in spite of a do nothing, Republican lead House that has blocked his every move and who has wasted billions of tax dollars passing laws they know will go no where and on investigations about made up scandals. History and facts will show I am right.

      4. idamag June 20, 2014

I don’t think anyone associated with the Administration that failed to protect us from 9/11, when there was a history of terrorism against this country, when there was actionable intelligence of a plot to fly planes into buildings by foreigners learning to fly and take off but not land and who declared they were not interested in finding bin Laden and joked about looking for WMDs under the desk of the OVal Office, and who miscalculated that the Iraq invasion would only last weeks or months at the most, that we would be seen as liberators, who crashed our economy, took us into debt, has any authority, credibility, or position to hold Congressional Hearings on anyone for anything; can criticize this Administration, or accuse this President of deliberately inflicting harm on his country.

I don’t care if they put on cowboy hats, or abuse their positions in Congress in order to continue to perpetrate their own terror on this country. Everything they have done and continue to do undermines our democracy and has potential to destroy our country.

The GOP and all of their operatives are a bigger threat to this country than any foreign terrorist. We can deal with those terrorists, as this President demonstrates. But what can we do when terror is inflicted by people abusing the trappings of government and the Constitutional Rights and manage to get into those positions of power?

Combating that kind of terror is our responsibility.

What weakens Democracy is: if you didn’t want that person to win the election, you spend the next 8 years bad mouthing him and trying to get him impeached. This kind of thinking is weakening our Democracy.

    2. nana4gj June 20, 2014

I think you have the Presidents confused. You are basing your conclusions on emotion and on being gullilble, but, certainly, not on fact.
Treating a terrorist like a criminal is appropriate. They plot harm, they kill. That is a crime, which is why those who commit crimes are called “criminals”. They are not armies of countries. They are criminals engaged in crime, kind of like the gangs and gang warfare, only at a higher level. They are international thugs.
In fact, we just might consider sending the Right Wing gun enthusiasts and militias to go hunt them down and kill them with their guns, since that is what they live for, carrying and using guns.

Subjecting these terrorists to the US Justice System has been successful. They are terrorists in their ideology and methods, but, when they kill, they are criminals, individuals who commit a crime and who are, therefore, criminals.

      1. caligrown June 20, 2014

Are they not equivalent to terrorists? Just because he’s a foreigner it makes the crime different?? Why???

    3. nana4gj June 20, 2014

PS. I also find your accusations and your fears of future attacks, implying that they will be the result of a “traitor” President, to be pathetic and hysterical. All you have to do is look at the history of 9/ll, the aftermath, and the current history of how terrorism is being addressed.
There is no guarantee that another terror attack will never happen, but it will not happen because of a lack of vigilance, or because of neglect, or incompetence, and it will not happen for political exploitation or for an excuse to go get someone who ticked you off because he tried to put a hit on your Poppy or because you want to outdo your Poppy and do to the guy what Poppy had the good sense not to do.
What I can guarantee, is that it will not happen because this President is a “traitor”. The lives of my loved ones, and my life, is in perfectly capable and competent, and loyal hands, for now. I can’t see anyone else, at this time, who could do a better job, who could do all of the hard things he has had to do, precisely to rescue his country from all of the harm inflicted before he came to office.

President Obama is the most feared anti-terrorist American president in modern history. The anti-American Muslim terrorists love the Republicans, the racist Obama haters and the gullible Americans who believe the right wing nonsense and work to under mind and reduce the president’s authority, influence and power.

They know that without those racial bigots and Republican right-wing partisan zealots their world would be a devastating series of serious routine episodes of destruction, death, discombobulating, defeat and capture.

Did President Roosevelt of the USA and Winston Churchill of Great Britain seek approval and go before the national legislatures to seek permission and approval for every strategy, military plan and administration of the capture of prisoners of war? Did Americans approve
the carpet bombing of cities in Europe/Germany and Japan including civilian economic, transportation and industrial centers … woman, children and old folk suffered and died! Did Truman ask permission to drop the first and then the second Atomic bomb on Japanese cities
which killed, maimed and wounded over 300,000 people (almost all innocent civilians), and left hundreds of thousands homeless? NO!!.

President Obama use those drones and Special Forces assets and the US Navy as you see fit to rid the earth of the scum known as international terrorists.

We had better not forget – BY THE WAY – that it was out of the Republican ‘sewer,’ interpreting a ‘so-called’ memo that the St. Dept. ordered, to portray the attack as ‘spontaneous’ – (now known to be an accurate FACT) & ‘ordering’ omissions to any links to ‘organized’ terrorists. Now, w/the capture of 1 of the attackers, the deceitful 3rd hand smearing of facts, of a ‘organized’ WH coverup – has been uncovered as a bold-faced LIE & Republicans, instead of saving face, continue, insanely onward, pushing what they know we ALREADY KNOW are LIES!!! US military advisors have secretly operated in Somalia since around 2007 and Washington plans to deepen its security assistance to help the country fend off threats by Islamist militant group al Shabaab, US officials said.

The comments are the first detailed public acknowledgement of a US military presence in Somalia dating back since the US administration of George W. Bush and add to other signs of a deepening US commitment to Somalia’s government, which the Obama administration recognized last year.

The deployments, consisting of up to 120 troops on the ground, go beyond the Pentagon’s January announcement that it had sent a handful of advisors in October. That was seen at the time as the first assignment of US troops to Somalia since 1993 when two US helicopters were shot down and 18 American troops killed in the “Black Hawk Down” disaster.

The actions of the junior Senator from Wisconsin have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad, and given considerable comfort to our enemies. And whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn’t create this situation of fear; he merely exploited it—and rather successfully.”–Edward R. Murrow, on the activities of then Senator Joseph McCarthy.
What a shame it is, then, that many confuse dissent with disloyalty, that to many accusation is proof, that o these poor blind fools conviction somehow trumps evidence and due process. They seek to drive with fear and ban reason, and hold that we must be fearful men.
