First of all, anyone who lives in the NY/NJ metro area remembers WeinerGate very clearly. He was running as a Democrat from one of the NY burroughs and his Republican opponent got wind of him using his cell phone to show his schlong to some young woman. When his cell phone was confiscated to show he was guilty of lewdness, (sexting back then was a no no) Weiner was desperate to stay in touch with the young woman and used his wife’s laptop.

Now, Trump wants to throw Weiner’s wife in jail because she left her laptop secured, which she was using exclusively for the communication with Hillary for whom she was an aide at that time. Weiner found it and began to use it to communicate his lewd photos with the young woman.

What I saw of Huma on TV when she found out what he did was the same thing Hillary tried to do: damage control. She tried to stand by Weiner until it came out that he took her laptop and used it for his lewd photos. That’s when she had enough and divorced him.

She knew she could never again trust him. Just like we can never again trust any Republican to be honest, have any sense of integrity or understand the meaning of playing with a clean hand.

The first thing to remember is that it is not clear that any of the e-mails being reviewed by the FBI were sent by Hillary Clinton. Secondly, the extended investigation has nothing to do with Hillary’s server. At least not directly. Thirdly, the person that may be prosecuted is Huma, not Hillary. When Huma left the State Department she signed a document that obligated her to turn in all official documentation. If she didn’t, and at this point that is far from clear, she is in trouble, not Hillary. Last, but not least, the FBI did not suggest anything that comes even close to criminal activity, as Trump and some of his supporters are saying. Comey’s memo states that they found e-mails during an investigation unrelated to Hillary’s e-mail controversy, that may be pertinent to the investigation.
As for FBI Director Comey’s decision to act as a prosecutor, and potentially impact a presidential campaign, in violation of existing policy, I suspect that he felt that both he and the FBI were between a rock and a hard place, and decided to take the easy way out of a situation that had he done nothing, and Hillary had been elected, may have been considered obstruction of justice and preferential treatment. Neither consideration is relevant. When people are in positions of responsibility they must be ready to accept criticism, and must be able to explain why they made the decisions they made. As a minimum, he should have been a little more explicit as to exactly what is being reviewed.

My bet is that these have nothing to do with Hillary. You cannot be prosecuted for something your underling does. Otherwise every executive in the world would be in jail or under indictment.

Of course, Trump as one might have expected, has made a literal fool of himself in his outrageous, and over the top mischaracterizations of the more common than not occurrence in such ongoing investigations. Which makes Director Comey’s vague, and less than forthcoming description of the newly found source a lot more curious than the fact more emails were found, and thus further investigation was necessary. Or that he announced the newly found source now as “possibly,” involving Clinton. May be justified as protecting the integrity of the bureau, if things were to be found post election. But again, it has been this vague almost cryptic letter to Republican members of Congress that has left enough room for a ton of speculation practically on the eve of election, that is the most egregiously unfair to both Hillary Clinton, and the American public. And without knowing the nature, number, or relevance of the new findings, her campaign has absolutely no way to defend her against the negative perceptions that some will surely draw. And worse, there is absolutely no chance any of this will be in any way clarified before Nov. 8. A fitting end I suppose, to an election more divisive, less policy driven, and more just down right ugly, and embarrassing to know that somewhere out there the rest of the World is watching, than I have ever seen.

I bet all the Rs investigating have crimes of their own and they should be investigated. We already know they get bribes from the Oil Barons. Why is the FBI involved in Weiner’s sexting scandal and not involved in the allegations of Trump’s sex trafficking? Has Weiner actually touched any of his victims? His behavior is creepy and certainly child pornography is a crime, but does it compare in severity and violence to the rape of a 13 year old? Of providing cocaine and underage “models” for sexual abuse to his billionaire buddies in the mid 90’s?

Although I understand the tendency to cast aspersions at Director Comey. There isn’t anything in his record that says he would prefer a Trump Presidency over a Clinton. In fact, most of those like himself involved in the business of National Security, like former head of NSA General Michael Hayden, have determined Trump to be more than just inept, but so ignorant as to be a danger to the Nation’s security. But what I find more concerning here with this case, is the pressure being applied on Director Comey, and the FBI by GOP members in Congress to function as political muscle in order to assist their agenda of winning the Presidency at all costs, or else.
It smacks of the same kind of pressure put on these Federal intelligence agencies, the FBI prime among them, to provide the informational cover that justified the Bush Admin’s. determination to invade Iraq for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with WMDs. Trump for his part, spent huge amounts of his time, vilifying both Comey and the FBI as corrupt dupes for Obama, and Clinton, as part of a rigged system, because Comey didn’t advise DOJ to file criminal charges against Clinton over her handling of emails. A thing many seen as Trump’s only hope of winning the Presidency. Did this effect Comey’s decision to relent, and keep the investigation in the news cycle? That is my concern. The pressure, and the threat.

Well I guess we disagree a little here. Which is fine. I do understand your good point. But I do think any such partisan director might have preferred charges long before. Avoiding being caught in such a rock and hard place. Comey did not then. But now with the new source coming to his attention, might have felt compelled by the optics of the possibility that some criminal intent, or other issue might be revealed after the election of Clinton. And that occurrence’s ongoing reflection on the agency, even more than Comey’s handling of this may seem so now to the Left. Thus potentially undermining its credibility as the Country’s top law enforcement agency. I think this would have weighed heavily on any person in the Director’s Chair, regardless of Party affiliation. That said, he, and the agency is not out of the woods on this yet. The DOJ is furious I hear at his breaking protocol in notifying Congress before sharing the new implications with them.

He gave no context and could have clarified within the letter. Now no one will believe what he says, not Dems, not Repubs.

Absolutely! Which was my point this morning. It, [the letter] seemed designed to be intentionally ambiguous, and therefore careless of its nearness, and potential impact to the impending election. As to whether there will be additional clarification by Comey remains to be seen. But I believe it is warranted, and I also believe it is incumbent President Obama publicly advise him of that. We shall see if the President believes that such an advisement would be helpful, or just more muddy the partisan waters?

You had better instincts, and were clearly better informed than myself on the ethics, and protocol Director Comey violated with his unprecedented actions. My first sense was to not be hypocritical on this. Dems praised him for not suggesting charges, and now their criticisms at first glance seemed purely partisan. In retrospect, after considering the facts, and learning more, I find that was definitely not the case. So thanks, and well said!

Really Mr. Starr? That explains why the Republicans spent eight years trying to get rid of Bill Clinton, and now they are trying to do the same with Hillary. He amended his prior testimony to the United States Congress which he took under oath, to let them know that he had been informed of emails “pertinent” to the investigation he had just told them he considered closed (decided to not indict with prejudice). That is his job. He leads off saying just that “I am amending my recent testimony’. Whatever Trump or the Media did is on them.

The short answer to your question is that he can’t. He, and his subordinates, had no idea what was in the e-mail found in Wiener’s laptop. The reason for that is because they did not have a warrant at the time. They got one yesterday evening. I think it is important to note that Comey’s memo reads “e-mails that may be pertinent to the investigation”. There was nothing conclusive or suggesting criminality in his memo.

Since you’d be able to answer that question if it were Trump, Bush or Rubio but can’t possibly do it with your blinders on I’ll do it for you. He reported to the UNITED STATES CONGRESS that his investigation was complete, and though he chastised Clinton’s actions did not have ample evidence to bring criminal charges so the case was closed. Immediately upon finding out that there new information had been uncovered that was reported as “pertinent” to the previously closed investigation he reported that fact since now it was possible the case would no longer be closed if the information he had not had while testifying was available. Only in a world where of utter subjectivity could you not understand that or argue against it. As a VOTER I feel it is his responsibility to let me know that. Will it make me vote for idiot meglomaniac Trump instead? No. But this is not about Trump. This is about the likely next POTUS and it would be remarkably irresponsible to not inform Congress. Sorry if it affects your horse in the race but it is the ONLY right thing to do.

Let’s put it another way. Say this was same situation Trump (in the hideous alternate universe where he was a US Senator). Comey says nothing. Trump wins. The ‘pertinent’ emails in fact become both relevant and determined to be classified and, after being sworn in, Trump is now being tried on criminal charges. Would you have wanted him to keep silent about that critical bit of information? We knew they were investigating her while they reviewed all the other information, why should we not know they are investigating new information. Get a grip.

I’ve answered your question about 64000 mfing times. He wasn’t reporitng the fact that he had evidence against Clinton. He was reporting the fact that new documents had surfaced which he had not had access to before, which he now had to review as he did the prior documents to see if they were relevant and classified. Which is what he did during the initial investigation that both Congress and the people knew about. Then he testified that based on his review of all the documents available he could not recommend criminal prosecution at the time, though he made it clear he felt her actions were highly irresponsible, could have put the nation at risk and were she still a Senator would expose her to disciplinary actions. In other words, she was not clean, just clear of criminal charges. Then new documents he didn’t have access to or knowledge of in order to review before making his final determination were discovered. So he informed Congress of such and let them know that essentially the status had changed since, in fact, all the documents had not been reviewed. Go twist it anyway you want, those are the facts. If you don’t like them don’t worry you’ll have 4-8 years to play the same word and mind games and then start all over.

No, the job responsibilities of the FBI Director do not include duties of a prosecutor. He is law enforcement official. Moreover, the protocol followed by FBI Directors include submitting the findings of their investigations to the Justice Department. If the Head of the DOJ recused herself from a specific investigation, the findings must be submitted to the Assistant Attorney General, not directly to Congress.

Whatever the Media or Trump did with Comley’s letter to Congress all HE did was this; inform the Congress, whom he had recently testified to that he had closed the Criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of classified materials on her private server, that investigators on an unrelated investigation had informed him that emails “pertinent” to the Clinton emails had surfaced and that he was going to review those emails to see if they were relevant to the case. In other words, potential new evidence has surfaced and he was investigating that evidence and thus amending his prior testimony so that the Congress was fully aware of the status of the investigation of the presumptive POTUS which had changed since his last testimony.

Coupled with a ll the revelations from the Wikleaks documents, this is just another straw on the proverbial camel’s back. Her pay for play to get access to the secretary of state and enriching her friends after the Haiti earthquake, at the taxpayers’ expense, is only part of the illegal activity she engaged in. Using the Clinton Foundation to enrich herself and her husband to the tune of over $150 million is more illegal behavior. Ordering 33,000 of her emails to be deleted, while under congressional subpoena, violates 6 felony statutes in and of itself. The list goes on and on, but without Wikileaks we would never have had proof that Mrs. Bill Clinton’s corruption and lies, makes Richard Nixon look honest in comparison. I suspect those are the reasons for reopening an investigation that should never have been dropped in the first place.

I recently had an article to write and became somewhat diverted while doing my article research. I came across something I would like to share about the Republican Party at its very earliest.

It was founded March 20, 1854 in Whipon, Wisconsin by several members of the former, defunct Whig Party. Ironically, where the Whig Party tended toward being anti Andrew Jackson and pro slavery, the original Republicans were stalwart in their efforts against slavery. Their 1st Republican candidate, John C. Fremont, won 11 of the 16 northern states. However, by 1860, the Republican pro slavery states threatened secession if Republican won the presidency.

It is well known that the original Republican Party was able to gain much traction as a result of “assistance” from the northern successful campaign donors, most of whom were business men.

Todd, the Clinton Foundation has retrieved a top rating from the agencies that rate foundations. Over 87% of donated funds went to meet the healthcare and anti-poverty needs that the Foundation chose to address.
Clinton did not read her emails. Her adminstrative staff read them and printed only the most important – perhaps less than 1% – for review and decisions. Clearly good detail oriented people need to be on staff to prevent debacles like the emails. But, in truth this has almost nothing to do with serving the American people as president. In that role Clinton excels. Clearly, she is not a computer nerd nor a detail minded clerk.

I know for a fact that any foundation or charitable trust has to be audited by an independent auditor. So, how is it Trump’s Foundation was only audited 2 times according to the IRS? It’s because like everything Trump does, he refused to use an independent auditor. Ergo, not filing his tax returns for more than 2 years in 20.

Comey, like all moron Republican and right wing men, fell on his sword for that Arkansas hick dirt bag, Trey Gowdy. Gowdy tried to frame Hillary by using emails HE edited.

Now it is up to AG Loretta Lynch to get rid of Comey. If this is the only way Republicans can win an election by paying off an FBI director to do their scumball dirty work, maybe it is time to disband the GOP completely.

They want to scour every tiny detail of Hillary’s life while they ignore who the real SOB Trump is. They can’t come up with his tax records but they want to dig into Hillary’s private emails right? Wrong.

I think there is already a petition out there to put Gowdy and Chaffetz in prison. Remember, it was Chaffetz who also edited the video he used in a federal investigation of Planned Parenthood.

Gowdy’s frame up is far more serious.

I hope you are right. But, here in NJ, what Trump did for almost 6 years when he got slapped with that $22 million FinCEN fine from the U.S. Treasury for allowing money laundering at the Taj Mahal, was to request court date extensions.

Unfortunately, he played his hand too close to the vest. He asked for these extensions knowing full well when his due process of 7 years expired, so did the cases against him.

That’s why the U.S. Treasury wasn’t about to allow his last request for a court date extension.

First off, Comey didn’t know if any of those Emails were “confidential” because he only found out about them the 27th and they were NOT investigated. His letter was premature not to mention not the norm. When people in Comey’s position use terms like “possible” “may be pertinent” ” cannot assess whether or not this material may be significant” holds in question if anything in that letter was worth sending knowing full well that it would be distorted and made public. Whether you’re left or right it should bother you that such a highly place law enforcement official is so careless and unprofessional.

Another thing: Why does anyone believe that the Emails released by Wikleaks is truthful and accurate?? Our intelligence agencies believe that they were given to Assage by the Russians. They did find fudged Emails some from Kaine because he had the originals and when compared they were fabrications. That does poison the pool. Assage and the Russians don’t particularly like Clinton and are, in fact inserting themselves in our election process. That should bother everyone!

Here is one more thing: After that meeting on the tarmac it was asked that Lynch recuse herself. She did and placed into Comey’s hands whether or not to recommend prosecution. Comey selected 5 of his top people to form a group to make that decision thus placing another layer in that process. They found no laws were broken so they didn’t recommend sending it on for prosecution. The result, Lynch got criticized for removing herself and Comey was called an inappropriate person for that task by the very people who criticized Lynch who did what they asked. These right wing Republicans are NOT interested in justice or getting at the truth. The only “truth” they accept is the one they want and the results they want. You can’t do right doing what they ask or doing what you feel is right.

While I’m at it, the reason that we have the least productive Congress in the history of this nation for the last 7 years is because of these very same right wing Republican obstructionists. NOT the Congress as a whole.

These are absolute facts easy to verify. See, I said all this without calling anybody names and acting with disrespect. Try that sometimes people. Eleanore, you’re cool.

I suspect the underlying problem is simply that Huma and Anthony had a Microsoft home network that allowed printing from any computer in the home. Unless the printer is wireless enabled all the printing would go through the computer physically connected to the printer. What is likely is that the hard drive in Anthony’s computer contains bits and pieces of the print queue from Huma’s printing from her computer.

And this WeinerGate is already 7 years old. Shows just how disgusting Trump and the Republicans are.

We in the Metro area knew that when Weiner’s cell phone was confiscated by NY law enforcement for proof of his guilt, he continued to communicate with his online sexting partner usign Huma’s laptop. That’s when she found out he still hadn’t stopped his lewdness. She no longer cared if he lost his bid for re-election. It was lost the minute those sexting sessions via cell phone went national.

When I watched the CNN broadcast of Gowdy and Chaffetz literally acting as if they were SC judges when the deposed Comey, they were using the most disgusting interrogation tactics and I saw and heard Gowdy get pissed off because no matter how he tried, he couldn’t get Comey to lie under oath and say Hillary committed a crime. So what did the Arkansas hick do next? He started yelling at Comey who then literally and figuratively blasted away at Gowdy and Chaffetz stating, “The FBI does not base its judgments on political partisanship.”

Remember back in 2007 why AG Gonzalez had to resign? He was hiring only Republican lawyers for U.S. Attorneys. The DOJ gave him an ultimatum: Resign for trying to Republicanize law or be fired. Gonzalez took the coward’s way out and resigned claiming he had “family obligations.” Yeah right. The good old boys excuse for when they know it’s resign or be fired in disgrace.

Now, just imagine what our country would be like today if Cheney got away with creating Republican law. This is exactly what Gowdy is attempting to do. The Republicans want control of the ONLY 2 branches of government that CAN NEVER be politicized: The FBI and DOJ.

But that is not what the winger jerks in this country want. Take over the FBI and DOJ and fill it with only Republicans as Gonzalez was ordered to do by Cheney and you would be living in a country ruled by Republican law. Not law that is pure and judged by an unbiased SC.

That is where the GOP is now in serious trouble. Under the U.S. Constitution, anyone accused of a crime is “innocent until proven guilty.” You have Trump asshats all saying, “throw her in jail!” For what? They have NO proof of any wrongdoing and are therefore violating her right to due process of the law which includes a full investigation (they already had 2 that proved nothing) and a jury of her peers.

If you accuse someone without proof, you can go to jail for libel and slander.

That’s why it was a huge mistake for him to try and run for president with the court of public opinion who can hold his feet to the fire when he lies.

The problem for Americans is that Trump is used to ALWAYS getting what he wants. He wants to be president. But, not for the country. For Trump.

It is exactly as JFK once said with the way we choose a president: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

He unwittingly let the cat out of the bag. If ever the RNC is fully investigated, they could be banned for taking a bribe from Trump of that $100 million he paid for the RNC to allow him to run.

When you live in NJ, you know that voters may vote in primaries, but the candidates who run in primaries are chosen by party bosses. As such, that $100 million Trump paid allowed him to be on their primary ticket.

If he did pay his way into politics it certainly wasn’t on the tune of a hundred million smackers, ten million is still a stretch yet possible but more than likely it was one million because remember he only had to deal with one uppity toad to be endorsed for the nomination. He said a hundred million just to be seen as a high roller. His tax statements will reveal his past more that his present. And let’s say that he did pay out that much, he’s not quite that stupid to expect a return this year since he, like all of us, can delay amended filing for up to three years, well enough time to be set in his position while not having to reveal his tax returns any longer but knowing this slug as we do, it’s impossible that he would let go of so much money to anyone else but himself.

There never were Classified emails in her own server. That is why they didn’t find any there. She wasn’t as sloppy as Comey wants us to think. I think they should be fair. Why are they holding her to a higher standard than the SOSs who preceded her and used the same method? At least she did not delete any emails having to do with SOS business, like the previous ones did. She only deleted hers after the lawyers went thru and separated out private ones from work ones. Wouldn’t he also be guilty of violating the Hatch Act? Here is what the Hatch Act states:

The 1939 Act forbade the intimidation or bribery of voters and restricts political campaign activities by federal employees. It prohibits using any public funds designated for relief or public works for electoral purposes.

It forbade officials paid with federal funds from using promises of jobs, promotion, financial assistance, contracts, or any other benefit to coerce campaign contributions or political support.

t provided that persons below the policy-making level in the executive branch of the federal government must not only refrain from political practices that would be illegal for any citizen, but must abstain from “any active part” in political campaigns, using this language to specify those who are exempt.

It is my understanding that this was also applicable to anyone in federal government positions acting as “special counsel” …right there it shows Gowdy belongs in prison.

The fourth amendment protects against “unreasonable search and seizure without warrant or “probable cause”. If there were emails that Huma was putting on her home computer that she shared with her pedophile husband, in order to print out
for the Secretary of State, there is glaring probable cause. And by the way, I am sure Jim Comey is quite aware of what he is doing.

Assange has a vendetta against Hillary, because she went after him for his releasing info on Guantanemo and Abu Ghraib. I don’ know about the rest of you, but this is disturbing to me.

Very disturbing. When you ask yourself “why is Trump trying to destroy our democracy?” “Why is he poking sticks at ignorant people and riling them up into an ugly mob?” Why is he stirring up race, gender, etc?” There are not a lot of reasons. And the ones I can come up with are very frightening and possibly lead back to Putin and what he wants for this country.

The “blatant violation” that occurred was the “coincidental” meeting of Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch on an airport tarmac in Arizona that none of us would know about were it not for an airport worker who just happened to see what was going on and called a pal who worked for a local TV station. Obama and Lynch put the kibosh on Hillary’s indictment, and now Comey is emboldened to do the right thing. Hillary should be preparing for her trial right now, not running for president.

Comey said in July if more information comes, it will be forthcoming. New York investigators looking into Weiner’s criminality, found these emails and turned them over to the FBI. Substantive information, we are talking about thousands of emails were discovered. I don’t see this getting any better. By the way, Huma could tell us what Info is in these emails.

Who was in power when 911 happened! The GOP! Did Democrats use 911 against President Bush and the GOP? NO! Instead we came together as a country to mourn the dead. As opposed to GOP actions after a handful of Americans died in Benghazi. The GOP has spent millions trying to pin the blame on Secretary Clinton. Guess she was supposed to be standing guard at the front gate of the Embassy! Now, shall we talk about missing emails? During the time period Bush-Cheney were ginning up support to invade Iraq, the RNC was maintaining an email server for Bush/Cheney and 12 million emails just magically vanished from that time period. Where is the outrage? Where is the accountability? NO WMDS in Iraq, trillions of dollars wasted, and thousands of American servicemen and women killed, maimed and injured. Not to mention the thousands of Iraqis killed, maimed and dislocated. Last but not least, the Iraqi invasion destabilized the entire area and directly contributed to the rise of ISIS and their ability to flourish! So, all you racist redneck, bible thumping, women hating cretins know where you can stick Benghazi and Hillary’s email server! Cause those two issues aren’t even on the same planet as Bush’s invasion of Iraqi and the resulting death and destruction; and the filth that has been pouring out of Trump’s sphincter like mouth since he announced he was running for President!

As stated repeatedly… there is no evidence of a crime. The FBI couldn’t find any. So under the law you can’t charge someone if they broke no laws.

That being said: I would still love to know where Bush and Cheney’s 22 MILLION emails that are missing from very specific critical periods around the Iraq war happened to go. Since 4,000 Americans and almost 200,000 Iraqs actually died in that conflict I’d be keen to see what Bush and Cheney actually said to one another and the various branches of Government.

I’m sure you’re fine with that though.

Truth is that a drump supporter has actually been arrested for voting for drump twice. Voter fraud is real and it is being done by repubs along with all their voter suppression tactics.

It’s like five now. And Trump has told people to vote multiple times – a felony. This is the person you support; you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Another truth is that the number of polling places in North Carolina districts with large African American population, were dramatically reduced in numbers for several days.

This just in: stupid people are making up ridiculous stuff in order to justify their outrageous lies and outright cheating in support of a tax-evading racist fraud who has been charged with sexually abusing women and children.
