NRA Should Add Its Own Members To ‘Enemies List’

NRA Should Add Its Own Members To ‘Enemies List’

Last September, The National Rifle Association released its annual “enemies list” of organizations and individuals who endorse “anti-gun positions.” The bizarre list of 525 names includes mainstream organizations from AARP to the National Association of Police Organizations, and celebrities, national figures and journalists from Maya Angelou to Henry Winkler to E.J. Dionne Jr.

But why aren’t NRA members on the enemies list? After all, 75 percent of NRA members support universal background checks for gun sales, which the NRA opposes.

And why aren’t women on the enemies list? A majority 67 percent of women support a ban on semi-automatic weapons, which the NRA opposes.

And why aren’t gun owners on the enemies list? A majority 60 percent of gun owners favor a federal database to track gun sales, which the NRA opposes.

Lastly, why aren’t the American people on the NRA’s enemies list? The majority of Americans support an assault weapons ban, a ban on high-capacity magazines, and universal background checks… all of which the NRA opposes.

There is one group that the NRA would never add to its enemies list — gun manufacturers. One must always remember on which side one’s bread is buttered.

Profiles In Cowardice And Courage From Our Shameful Senate: Mark Begich And Mark Kirk

On Tuesday 45 senators — mostly Republicans, but some Democrats — made cynical political calculations by choosing to protect the NRA gun merchants over America’s children, betraying the families of Newtown, CT, and the nation in their failure to pass stronger gun laws. It was expected that the right-wing Republicans in the Senate would reflexively

      Congratulations.

As a rational, honest human being, you are automatically an enemy of the NRA leadership.

As a law abiding citizen, never been in any trouble, I am automatically on omuslim’s enemy list

Lana, and although Obama is not a Muslim, where do you get off denigrating Muslims?? Oh I know, it’s because you’re not an American. In America, a persons religion has NO EFFECT on whether or not that person is qualified for anything. It’s only, weasles and totally unAmerican jerks who would even suggest such a thing!!!

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/HGC4BGWVYXV76PHZBPSPOOU5GA Independent1

Sorry Lana but he did not admit any such thing. If you type in Snopes Muslim Faith, you’ll find a link to a snopes article which clearly shows that when Obama said: “you’re right that McCain has not talked much about my Muslim Faith…”, he was only trying to clarify his accusation that the GOP, not necessaril McCain himself, that was widely advertising thisrediculous notion that he’s a Muslim and not a Christian … as he has constantly asserted. He finishes the interview by saying:” What I think is fair to say, is that coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest, that I’m not what I say I am when it comes to my faith, something that I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time.”

Sorry Lana, but you’re wrong again!! Just as in many other unscrupulous GOP political ads, they snap comments out of context and put them together to create a false notion/blatant lie – the GOP are experts on doing just that.

          • Mulligatonney

…so the solution to Newtown mass killing is to render an entire nation defenseless against the whims of the criminal with a gun? Maybe that particular mother was not able to use her guns to stop a twisted soul from his killing spree, but there are thousands of Americans across the country who stop and deter crime every day by having a gun.

and you guys call yourself logical? In that sense, you can spell logical p-u-s-s-y… or c-o-w-a-r-d… or even s-o-c-i-a-l-i-s-t if you like. But certainly do not call yourself logical.

Who is going to protect you, if not yourself? OBama? The Police? Anti-gun laws? Use your head – the police only show up after a crime is reported. By that time, the criminal has already done to you what he intended to do to you.

Look – its fine if you want to stick your ASS up in the air and advertise your vulnerability for any would-be assaulter that wanders by, but I will stick to the Constitution in this case and insist that you exercise your right to be a defenseless victim – and leave my right to defend myself the hell alone.

Over a hundred million gun owners have never shot anyone to death in their lives, but choose to at least have a chance of defending themselves and their homes in the event they have to.

…a handful of retards get ahold of some guns and kill innocent, defenseless Americans…

…and your answer is to take away the only means to protect ourselves against people like that from ALL THE REST OF US?

That is called socialism – and many other things as well. Like stupid. Or paralyzed with fear. Or thinking that government cares about you…

You libs/progressives/socialists amaze me. You speak loftily of logic and sensibility and truth, etc. but your logic fails you at the very most basic of levels.

            Cowards…

Have you ever heard of a “Slip of the tongue” or used a word you never intended to, but just slipped out? There was a NASA spokeswoman who said humans would one day return to MARS…which sent all of the conspiracy nut jobs into overdrive, and yet it is PLAIN she meant to say the MOON. Obama is no more a Muslim than you or me.

It’s amazing even John McCain denied Obama is even an Arab, let alone a muslim, and yet the mindless lemmings on the Right continue to barf up the same old crappola. TOTAL inability to perform rational thought.

And yet even if he was, so what? Where in the Constitution does it say what religion a President must be -or cannot be? A Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Taoist, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, Wiccan etc could, in theory, be President. There’s NO law against it.

But to keep claiming Obama IS, when common sense should tell you he COULDN’T be…well, that’s tinfoil hat baloney.

Like so many in our great nation, you only look at the worst of the Muslim world, which is a small fraction of their faith.

As someone who has had the privilege of having worked with Muslims in the past, my opinion of them is much higher than any one who is full of hatred.

You really should consider that the KKK, Nazi’s, Crusaders, etc. were all so called Christians. They, like you, were, and are, ruled by hatred of anyone who doesn’t worship the same as them, have the same pigmentation as them, etc.

Maybe you should read the Bible. Find out where Christ condemned anyone for the color of their skin, how they worship God, etc.

As a rational, honest human being you have been duped into believing that the NRA is this evil thing that wants all people to kill with guns. The NRA just wants the second amendment upheld. There isn’t anything eveil about that.

True debate without demonizing someone or some group is the only way to solve the gun issues.

If they pass an assualt rifle ban without some kind of legislation including violence in movies, video games, and metal health. They aren’t really serious about the senseless murders in schools. Criminals don’t follow the laws! As I’ve said, Chicago has the strictist gun laws and the most gun murders! So, the enemy of the NRA is a bunch of crap. 99.99% of gun owners and members of the NRA are peaceful people who would never use their guns unless they had to!

    A Rethinking

As a former NRA member for many years and a shooting sports enthusiast for 58 years (70 now), I refuse to be anywhere close to those radically minded and poorly informed current NRA members who do not wish to consider the facts and look realistically at the problem.

The simple fact is people cannot shoot bullets. Only a firearm can perform that feat. So, control the firearms in a realistic fashion and you solved a major portion of the gun problem.

There is no need for private citizens to collectively possess more small arms firepower than all the armed forces combined, this according to a recent study conducted by the DOD and the Justice Department. Consider 80 firearms for every 100 persons. Scared yet?

  • Lovefacts

When I was growing up the NRA served a valuable service. The primary purpose of the organization was gun safety.

Now, in 2013, it is the shill for the gun manufacturers, not the owners. However, by hiding behind the supposed desires of their membership, by lying about who they represent, the NRA presents a powerful, vote-producing engine. Surprise! They don’t care what their membership thinks or wants–only what the gun manufacters want—and their ability to produce votes is rapidly becoming negligible.

By definition, the leaders of the NRA and their radical supporters could not pass a mental competency test to own guns. Little wonder they fear simple and realistic changes to make people safer.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/HGC4BGWVYXV76PHZBPSPOOU5GA Independent1

Maybe that’s why gun manufacturers and the NRA are dead set against background checks – it would cut down on gun sales – they probably think there’s a large portion of the American population who wouldn’t be able to pass a background check for mental or other reasons – I mean, a little more than 1/3 of the American population is Republican, and we know that these days they’re mentally disturbed and have absolutely no common sense.

    • Eleanor

Do you think the criminal and crazy people will give up their guns???Nah, I did not think so. Are the federal armed guards for government officials going to give up theirs???Nah I did not think so. If it takes 15-20 minutes for 911 Emergency response teams to get to your house, you can be dead as well as all your family by then.

      • Dukester

I think that the point is to keep weapons away from criminals & the mentally unstable by making it more difficult to get them in the first place. I don’t mind going through a background check and having to wait a few days in order to buy my hunting rifle, or handgun for protection. The NRA’s position is to make it as easy as possible for anyone to get a gun, which means that it is quite easy for criminals to get them too. Of course, not only does this raise the level of fear, but it has the intended effect of filling the coffers of the gun manufacturing industry.

        • Eleanor

You missed my point entirely, the criminals or the crazies will not get a gun legally, but by stealing them from the ones who have gone through the legal channels to have them, or buy them off the black market, or from the gang members. They have no qualms in killing someone to get at the guns. I agree that we do need to have stringent requirements for owning a gun, and most NRA believe in these laws, they are as against gun VIOLENCE as most citizens are. Gun CONTROL is just that control of those daring to be armed for self defense.

  • bstockinger

LaPierre are pretty weird. Only thing I can think of is LaPierre, a relative, or close friend can’t pass a background check.

  • Eleanor

There is a big difference in gun “violence” and control of guns. I think all members of NRA are against the violence committed by the mentally challenged and the criminals.Owning a gun is not violence but self protection/self defense. Why are those so heavily guarded by heavily armed guards the ones so against guns?? Take aay their armed guards, let them walk a dark street in a “bad” neighborhood and see how safe they think they are. I am sure most of them would have sh%&ty and wet drawers before they were ten feet into those aeas. People, why are their lives so much more important than the average citizen. Just because we pay their outrageous salaries and those guarding them does not make them any more important than you or I. I do not own a gun, not will I because I take antidepressants and do not feel safe with one even tho I am an old lady living in a rural rather deserted area. I do have other weapons at my disposal tho.

The NRA’s motives are totally transparent: Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Congress is the same way. The NRA’s membership makes up 1.4% of the population, but Congress treats them as a major player – money is the only reason and it’s a complete conflict of interest for Congress. Why aren’t we holding Congress to higher standards?

  • Eleanore Whitaker

I hope I’m on that list. If the NRA is now stacking up their enemies on a list, what does that say about their vengeance? These are an armed minority who are willing to go to what extremes to enforce their brand of ideology?

  • umphres

I think this is a little “over the top” concerning NRA. No, they don’t agree with all the administration’s recommendations but they are playing the politics game, hoping for a resolution somewhere in the middle. I think any weapons ban other than the ones we currently have OR a “magazine capacity” ban other than the ones we have in the name of wildlife conservation are superfluous. Let’s attack the REAL problems and start with Teaching Tolerance.

  • alumahead

The NRA is on my terrorists watch list.

    • Eleanor

Well God pity you when there is another greater terrorist attack. You will be wondering where that horrible NRA is then, I am sure the government will not be there.

  • Ken Walker

Maybe if the Defense Department diverted its purchases of weapons and ammunition from the gun manufacturers that the NRA represent to foreign gun manufacturers, they will be more sympathetic to common sense gun safety regulations

So the NRA / DOJ / Holder was running Fast and Furious??? No wonder ISSA let Holder walk on the crime he was part of so the NRA would not lose face. The comments from some people would be laughable except their are people on this board that believe this clap trap.

    • Eleanor

Which is worse, arming American citizens for self defense or the drug cartel to murder border patrol as well as thousands of innocent Mexicans??? The posts I read are ludicrous. I still believe the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. This is what our law enforcement is telling us.

  • http://twitter.com/14hei 14hei

It is sad that our representatives in congress are influenced by the leadership of the NRA. I would hope that the totally non rational comments of the NRA leadership in this last month will end that influence. There is no reason that the request for background checks for gun purchases, the limit on rounds in magazines, and the assault weapons band, should not be put into effect. These actions will not take away a individuals right to own a gun. It will require that, that individual is mentally and legally capable to own a weapon. And I say what truly rational person needs large capacity magazines and semi-automatic weapons. These tools have but one purpose, but to kill large numbers individuals indiscriminately.

    • option31

Who needs / wants a large cap clip? Have you heard of the Warsaw Ghetto?

  • leadvillexp

It would seem that in the US today you have to take a your way or my way approach. There is no middle of the road on eather side. This is why there is no good legislation passed. The legislation that goes through is one sided and done with emotions not logic. For those that feel taking away everyones firearms will give you safety you are wrong. This will only lead to slavery. Since time began the strongest always dominate the weakest. Weapons made people equal. Those not willing to fight, serve. If you feel all people are sane, loving and fair you are not living in the real world. The NRA may be on the far right but it stands up for peoples rights under the Constitution. That is more than I can say for some of our elected officials.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Howard-Bingham/100000180594471 Howard Bingham

Wonder what NRA official’s position would be if one of their family were shot by some lunatic bearing an AR-16 or other similar assault weapon..?

    • Eleanor

The same as yours or mine, they would try to take out the shooter by any means possible, and those of you who do not believe in self defense or protection of your family need see your doctor immediately. If you would not shoot someone trying to rape your daughter or wife or shoot you and them, you sir are an idiot and not those of us who do take that responsibility seriously.

    • option31

Are the lunatics you talking about Mao, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot or the US Government when they wiped out the Indians? Over 270 millions people were killed by the above lunatics and other government lunatics. Some how I’m just not worried about my neighbor as much as some “elected or appointed” lunatic. Read some history on genocide.

  • option31

Does anybody believe these polls? I live in the western mid west and have met nobody that support gun control. I do not live in a cave or anything and meet dozens of people a day. These polls are as honest and good as the poll takers – MSM has no credibility. NBC edits tapes to suit their agenda. Like the hearing in Newtown, they edited the tape to make it sound like a dad was heckled when in actuality it was many seconds and he asked a question and turned an looked at the audience – for an answer.

People on both sides hear what they want to hear, (and the media leads the way) and will NOT let the facts get in the way of their agenda. Respect, integrity and honesty would go a long way but when you have a agenda those go out the window.

The big question is where are the adults?

    • Eleanor

When the TV and Video games become the baby sitter, parents are too busy with their own agenda to be bothered with teaching their young the morals and ethics of America, there comes the problem. My grown children were taught good morals, work ethics and respect for the fellow man, and that life is valued regardless of the person, and they have all turned out to be productive tax-paying individuals who take responsibility for their lives and their childrens lives. Our society of today always puts the blame on others instead of standing up and accepting responsibility for their own actions.

      • option31

Eleanor you are 100% right. Despite all the blather from the media and the politicians it all boils down to parents teaching morals and responsibility but as you say they are too self absorb to teach their children.

It’s amazing how sick the National Memo has become. Millions of people have owned guns for years. A few Mentally ill people buy them or steal them and kill. Now the Memo demonizes the NRA for wanting to hold on to a right we Americans have.

It’s time for the National Memo to stop the petty hate for any group that doesn’t agree with their left wing crazy demonization. It’s time for real dialogue to solve problems. BOTH parties are equally responsible and therefore BOTH need to fix the problems with no regard for Big business, the unions or any other special interest group that doesn’t have the peoples agenda in mind!!

    • billbear1961

The NRA are demonizing THEMSELVES with their insane and evil behaviour! Or at least their leaders are.

And if we shouldn’t pay attention to “special interest groups who don’t have the people’s agenda in mind,” then we shouldn’t bloody well be paying ANY attention AT ALL to the NRA, who care about absolutely NOTHING but GUNS and PROFIT—no matter how many innocent people—even KIDS—have to DIE in the process.

(A “FEW” mentally ill people? Handguns ALONE killed almost 11,000 Americans last year. Know how many died the same way in Canada? 52. In Japan? 48. In Sweden? 21. In Britain? EIGHT! Consult Handgun Control, Inc.)

(PS: We have utterly exhausted the other thread, Joe! But, FEAR NOT! The bear is still here to show you the path to wisdom!!)

      • joeham1

Your never getting rid of guns in this country. It won’t happen! Your eveil this and evil that crap won’t help either! Calling a baby an egg doesn’t mean 50 million babies weren’t killed.

The city of Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws and some the highest murder rates in the country. It’s all about the left wing agenda of keeping people down, in education, welfare, and opportunity. This leads to crime, low self worth and murder.
The inner cities have been promised the american dream for 30 + years by the left.

What they end up with is rich democrats and a machine running the system in the inner cities! An example is Jesse jackson Jr. His district in Chicago has recieved millions and million in tax money for education, welfare and so on. Instead He is rich, and so are all the other law makers who run the machine. It’s a vicious circle, More taxes, more money, more spending, and so on. 30 + years later the cicumstance are worse than ever and the people are still waiting for the American dream!

        • billbear1961

Controls and confiscation are two VERY different things.

I’ve already said that corporatist Democrats are a BIG part of the problem—no better than Republicans in my book. Where economic issues are concerned, there is precious little difference between the two. Gore Vidal always said so—and he was right.

          It’s the RIGHT WING who are anti-science, anti-education, anti-healthcare, anti-equality, ANTI-JUSTICE.

And no greater evidence of their truly demonic EVIL can be found than in their PERVERTED REFUSAL to allow the adoption of the strictest possible gun-control laws in this poor country, like those enjoyed by our more advanced and CIVILIZED democratic allies around the world.

          • joeham1

We have discussed this to death. You try to comparetiny countries to our. There is no comparison. You make strange statements about the right that just aren’t true. If the right cares about the second amendment which you disagree with, then you call them evil. I really believe you have issues. You hate, demonize, and slander.

            I will give you a “For-Instance”

You say the right hates education. You know they want to get rid of tenure for teachers which is the biggest problem with our schools. Look up how many teacher’s of the year were let go because the schools couldn’t fire some of the crappy tenured teachers. Your socialism crap doesn’t wrok and never will! Your answer is throwing money at any problem you see. My answer is common sense tell us what right and whats wrong.

Another for instance is you egg theory. Once a women is pregnant it no longer an egg. I realize that it sounds much better to say that, but if a pregnant women is murdered it’s a doulbe homicide!

So, Go have your cake and eat it too! That’s how you seem to think!

          • billbear1961

So, you admit it CAN work (in your reply to me on the other thread), but only in “tiny” countries, eh?

The combined population of Holland and the Scandinavian countries comes to 42.5 million. Add Germany—which enjoys many social democratic benefits—and we reach 124.5 million! That’s not huge, but it’s ain’t chickenfeed, either!!

Once again, the Mighty USA—with its greatly superior means—is helpless to achieve what much smaller nations have accomplished??

            Pitiful, Joe! Pitiful!

I put it to you that only the American right stands in the way of our accomplishing the same miracle of efficiency and prosperity—for ALL, not just for a wealthy, selfish, maniacally greedy elite!!

But I’ve got you looking at the world’s most advanced societies, comrade; and that is one more small step towards the American SOCIAL DEMOCRACY!!

Ask questions, Joe, and stop swallowing the filthy LIES of Big Money and all their ruthless whores on the right!!

(Don’t count out England and France because they’re currently having difficulties, largely related to the 2008 fiasco! They are still major economies, and the French have the world’s BEST universal healthcare!)

(Greece and Italy are examples of what happens when you let corruption go unchecked for decades.)

(No, the boy who died from the infected tooth couldn’t get help until too late, because his parents were POOR. They finally found a charity, but too late!!)

(Don’t you remember the telethons with kids begging for medical help when we were growing up? I thought it was sad, but I didn’t know then that our allies had universal care and would NEVER allow such a CRIME to take place in THEIR societies!! I will never forget it, Joe, if I live to be 100!)

(You forget that I live with my husband in Canada, a country with a system much fairer than America’s. But I have friends and relatives in the U.S. and still care what happens south of the border! I’ve voted twice, by absentee ballot, for Mr. Obama.)

          • joeham1

Again, the social system your talking about never works! Redistribution still leave the poor, poor. It stifles innovation and productivity. When the free markets work the amount of wealth created, compared to social economic systems is much better, ie United States 1950-2000. Governments with the systems your talking about always over step and are never as efficient as a Capitalist system. The U.S. has the best health care system in the world. What we need to do is keep Obama and the federal governement out of it. Obama has to many debts he owes to corrupt businesses and unions. He lacks the ability to compromise, and he demonizes anyone who doesn’t agree with him. He has the liberal media and socialist backing him. Therefore the states should handle covering the poor.

They did a study on the system you speak of. They took a class of students and said we are going to make everyone graded by the same rules. All the A students would give part of their grades to the F and D students. The first test all the students got a grade of C+. the nex test came and the avaerage dropped to a C-. As you can well imagine the A students were disenchanted and there fore didn’t study as hard since the system was rigged against them. The third test was taken and the class average was now a D.
You see, socialism has never worked. It may work for a while but them it will fail!

          • billbear1961

The private system in the U.S. was the most EXPENSIVE in the world, but FAR from the best—leaving MILLIONS without coverage.

33 cents on every dollar went to administrative costs—not care.

Even if you HAD coverage, the private companies could cut you off at the drop of a dime if you were chronically ill and they determined you were costing them too much money.

As it existed, it was driving costs up and up and up and could NOT be maintained for much longer.

Obamacare is a step in the right direction, but doesn’t go far enough.

Only SINGLE-PAYER—because of its huge size and buying power—can cover everyone and bring costs down over time.

If you can’t understand or accept that, Joe, you’ve got a big problem with REALITY, and spend too much time listening to lying FAT ASSES like Limbaugh.

Democratic socialism DOES work—and works beautifully—and has done for over HALF A CENTURY in countries like Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Holland and Germany.

You’ve admitted as much, pal, and I’ve got your reply to me where you say so!

If you think I’m going to let you weasel out of your admission, you’ve got another problem with reality!

            HA!

The laissez-faire system the right is proposing would give us a brutal and corrupt system like they have in today’s China and Putin’s Russia—with no government benefits or constitutional protections for ordinary citizens, leaving the great mass of people open to the most ruthless and corrupt exploitation, i.e. virtual slave labour, in many instances.

That’s why, when people learn EXACTLY what GOP candidates stand for, Republicans cannot win a nationwide election.

For example, even most REPUBLICANS oppose Ryan’s insane and cruel budget plans and schemes to privatize Medicare and social security, once they clearly understand what that ugly, two-faced LIAR has in mind!

            No way, Joe!

Believe it or not, even most AMERICANS aren’t THAT stupid!!

          • joeham1

You socialists insist that a government run system is better. Deep down you know they fail on almost every level. You hate for Capitalism is based on your lack of acknowledgement or education. Government run systems are always corrupt always ineficient.

Canada is an example (lately) of a country that has gone through a type the socialism. They reduced taxes and created a frendlier business climate. In the las 75 years Capitalism has proven it creates more wealth then any other system. In our country the states have proven (most of them) that they can provide for their needy citizens. California is more of socialist type system. The problem if you would admit it, is the taxes collected are never enough and the spending always goes up.

          • billbear1961

I honestly don’t know what more to say to someone who—even after I show him countries where a balanced and fair social democratic approach works, and works well, and has done for over 50 years, and even after I show him the population under this highly efficient and prosperous system is nearly 125 MILLION (at least), and he admits to me, that, yes, it works—STILL prefers the corrupt abuses of CRONY CAPITALISM and its WILD UNRELIABILITY for all but the wealthiest—a system that almost brought the global house CRASHING DOWN around our ears in 2008, and one that adamantly resists any SERIOUS efforts to make it clean up its act, before it causes ANOTHER MELTDOWN in the not-so-distant future—this time almost certainly accompanied by ECONOMIC IMPLOSION.

No amount of absolutely unnecessary suffering on the part of MILLIONS of your fellow countrymen—even children—can shake your ideological obsessions and CHANGE YOUR MIND.

The prospect of a population with no way to defend itself from Big Money—once its servants (for whom you eagerly vote) have trashed the benefits, protections and advances it has taken GENERATIONS to secure—and with nowhere to turn—except, perhaps, to violent rebellion—does not phase you.

Rather than embrace the highest level of civilization the world has EVER seen, as achieved in nations like Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Holland, you prefer more of the SAME CORRUPTION AND UNCERTAINTY.

Never mind healthcare and education—if people like Paul Ryan have their way, we’ll see a return to . . . starvation wages, sweatshops, child labour, old people homeless and begging in the streets till they drop dead, and God KNOWS what other DICKENSIAN HORRORS back after an absence of nearly ONE HUNDRED YEARS.

And you tell me that *I* am crazy or delusional, Joe?

            The bear is speechless!

            So long, my friend.

We’re almost old-timers, but I think we’ll live long enough to see which one of us is right.

Maybe there is a “middle way.”

I don’t know, but that seems to be what Mr. Obama has in mind.

          • joeham1

Mr. Obama seems to be trying to go the way your talking about. Again, if you look at the economies of the countries your talking about they have problems! If we go back to what we were, we will create millions of millionares and and a strong middle class.

If you read about Holland, Sweden,Denmark, and Norway, they have their own problems. Your superior society isn’t perfect.

If you look at capitalism you need to look up Houston, Dallas, and Austin Texas. The 3 fastest growing ares in the country. more middle class, very little poor, and good wages. Very little effects of Obamas socialist agenda!

Had we gone the way of Paul ryan’s budget we would have a much lower deficit, and the fear mungers like you would find out no one dies in the street! It’s funny how he comes up with a way to reduce the deficit and Obama’s cronies tell everyone how people will suffer and then you buy into it and repeat it every chance you get!

Bottom line: No system is perfect, and they ALL have corruption and greed, but only one system creates incredible wealth!

We have a difference of opinion for sure. Our governement is proof that governements shouldn’t redistribute wealth. There is to much waste and corruption involved!

I compare the system you talk about to California. The system I talk about is Texas!

The purpose of the Second Amendment is to arm people in order to prevent future tyranny. They need the tools to do this.

The term “Well Regulated” in the Second Amendment meant “Well Manned and Equipped ” in 1791 as was determined in the 1939 United States v. Miller case after referencing the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. The concept of Government Regulation, as we understand it today, did not exist at the time.

United States v. Miller also determined that the term “Arms” refers to “Ordinary Military Weapons” (not crew operated). American Citizens have the right to Keep and Bear, which means Own and Carry, any weapons that a soldier carries into battle. That includes past, present and future weapons. A Militia consisted of armed volunteers willing to fight with their personal arms and not under government control.

The 2008 Heller v. Washington DC decision reaffirmed that the Right to Bear Arms was an Individual right. The 2010 McDonald v. Chicago decision reaffirmed it yet again and made it clear that it applies to every state, every city and every town in the United States.

To limit the Second Amendment to muskets would be the equivalent of limiting the First Amendment to writings in quill pens.

Liberty is worth the risk of death!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/X2KKGDYW2F5T5XUT6233KBNWSI robert

Man, Pocono Shooting Range, what wouldn’t you idots stoop to or what wouldn’t you say to make excuses to bear military-styled weapons? You sound so incredibly stupid, it’s amazing. The Constitution is clear. It doesn’t mention anything about tyranny. tyranny from whom? People like you? Where the fuck are you getting this dumb assed shit from, man? Plus, you have the nerve to be misquoting Benjamin Franklin and a couple of court cases that you read into what you wanted to get from them to fit your twisted thinking. You need to dust up on your American history more and read it with comprehension instead of bits and pieces of what you want to throw up at people. Military-styled weapons have no place in a civilian society. The Second Amendment refered to invaders, like Great Britain, who was attacking America to take back control of British Territory (New England at the time). Who is invading America now? America has the Army, Navy, Air Force, Reserves, National Guards, Coast Guards, Police Departments, and Sheriff’s Department, the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, CIA, DEA, ATF, Secret Service— all of these lines of defense in case of invasions. Unless you are talking about internal threats, like home grown domestic terrorists like the KKK, Skin Heads, Neo-Nazis, NRA, Bush/Cheney, Republicans, Tea Bags, and Yellow Dogs. If a citizen go out and interfere in a stand off or a shoot out in action by any law enforcement agency or military organization, he/she will be arrest and their fire arms confiscated, if not killed themselves. So what the hell are you posting about? You think you sound good using that stupid quote “Liberty is worth the risk of death!” Blah-blah-blah. You bunch of cowards need those kind of weapons because you are afraid to die! Nobody wants to take guns from anyone. It’s those military styled weapons, the kind used to kill babies and innocent, unoffensive people that’s the problem. They’re going to be taken from you, or taken from your cold, dead hands! . . . How you like that “cold dead hands” Charleton Heston used it for the NRA. Thought you might like those kind of ignorant expressions.
