A White Man Just Can’t Catch A Break

He brought his rifle up at the sound of footsteps crunching the Oregon snow. “Who goes there? Stop and be recognized.”

A weary voice answered out of the darkness. “It’s me, Sam. It’s Bud.”

“Give me the password.”

“Come on, Sam. Stop foolin’ around.”

“The password,” Sam insisted.

Bud sighed. “‘Patriots act.’ Are you happy now?”

Sam lowered the weapon as Bud stepped out of the trees into the meager circle of moonlight. “Can’t be too careful,” he said. He cupped his hands and blew into them. It was cold out here. “So where you been?” he asked.

“Down to the front gate.”

Sam grinned. “Bet you it’s a zoo, bunch of satellite trucks and media elites standing around. Who all’s down there? CNN? NBC? CBS? Sure hope Fox sends that Megyn Kelly. That babe can interview me anytime.”

Bud shook his head. “Ain’t much media down there at all.”

“Oh. Cops are keepin’ em back, huh?”

“Hardly any cops, neither.”

Sam had been stamping his feet trying to bring back circulation. Now he paused, looking over at Bud in shock. “No cops?”

“Not so’s you’d notice.”

“Do they know we took over a federal facility?”

“Yup.”

“I mean, it’s only a wildlife refuge in the boonies, but it’s still federal property, ain’t it?”

“Yup.”

“So that’s treason or somethin’, right?”

“You’d think.”

“Do they know Cliven Bundy’s sons are out here with us? Do they know we’re supporting local ranchers against federal tyranny?”

“They know.”

“Do they know we’re armed? Do they know we’re ready to shoot it out? Do they know we’re ready to die — and to take some of them with us?”

“Yup, yup and yup.”

“And they’re still ignoring us?”

“Appears that way.”

“Hell,” said Sam. Cold smoke drifted from his mouth. He couldn’t feel his fingers. “Hell,” he said again. “That ain’t fair.”

“How do you mean?” Bud stood hunched over, his hands pinned in his armpits.

“You think if a bunch of damn Muslims had took this place over, the cops and the media would be diddling around like this? You wouldn’t be able to think for the helicopters buzzing overhead. You’d be blinded by the TV lights. They’d send Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, Lester Holt. Hell, even if we was just black, they’d at least send Geraldo Rivera. But a bunch of white men? Nothin’.”

“I’m not so sure,” said Bud thoughtfully, “I mean, the media did turn out when ol’ Clive made his stand a couple years ago. He had plenty attention.”

“He did, but did you notice how they treated him? They acted like he was just an old kook like your crazy uncle Bubba. He’s out there with a bunch of armed men refusing to recognize federal authority, but they acted like he was … harmless.”

Bud nodded. “I see your point,” he said.

“I’m tired of bein’ treated like I’m harmless just ’cause I’m white. White men ain’t harmless. Did you hear about that biker gang shootout in Waco last May? Nine people dead, twice that many wounded, almost 180 arrests. That sound harmless to you?”

Bud shook his head. “I must have missed that,” he said.

“See, that’s my point. If 180 Mexican illegals had shot it out, you think you wouldn’t know about it? Hell, it would have been the top news story of the year! The blacks, the Muslims, the Mexicans, they get all the attention they want even when they’re not doin’ nothin’, but guys who look like you and me, we get bupkes. What do we need, bikini girls? For criminy sake, we’re committing armed insurrection against the federal government! Ain’t that enough?”

Sam went back to stamping his feet. He found himself wondering idly about the symptoms of hypothermia. “A white man just can’t catch a break,” he muttered.

If any other group, ethnic or otherwise, pulled something like this we would see the heavy hand of the law smacking down. Should applaud their 2nd amendment rights on this?

The so called “militias” are making fools of themselves. No one is taking them seriously, not even the locals. Cut the power and water supply. Freeze ’em out. Starve ’em out. Sent them out to dig latrines and hunt for food. If they start a fire, add it to their violations of the law. When they come slinking out, arrest ’em. And be sure and check for a hunting license on federal property. 🙂

Are you stupid or something? Their is no water pipe or electricity out there. It’s well water, generators and solar. The locals have brought them enough food and bottled water to last for months. He got it right, if they were other than white, it would be top news all day long.

      1. Cloudherder January 6, 2016

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I think you miss the point of this article.
BTW, how do you know it is well water, solar and generators?

        1. Andrew Armstrong January 7, 2016

About standing next to a fire to keep warm, because there is no power? I think you missed it. Wouldn’t you like to know.

      2. Grannysmovin January 6, 2016

Than why did authorities state they “After they shut off the
power, they’ll kill the phone service. Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.” The locals don’t want them there, they have closed the schools for fear of violence erupting. If the locals have brought them enough food and bottle water to last for months, why are they requesting snacks? Are they poaching the wildlife on this protected refuge to feed themselves? Why are they using the heavy equipment of the Refuge (without Permission) to stand behind in a firefight?

        1. Andrew Armstrong January 7, 2016

Shut off the power to what? Didn’t you read the part about staying warm near a fire?

          1. Grannysmovin January 7, 2016

You think a fire or two is going to keep them warn at night? You don’t think they need electricity for anything?

          2. Andrew Armstrong January 8, 2016

think it is about 7 or 8 fires. Do you need electricity?

          3. Grannysmovin January 8, 2016

You bet your sweet ass I do.

      3. yabbed January 6, 2016

No, I’m not stupid. To the contrary, I am aware of the feds saying they were going to turn off the power and shut down internet access.

More devisive anti-White, anti-American comments from the Memo. When Millions of Illegals invade “our” land, Liberals give them Amnesty. When criminal Illegals set for deportation, are released, Liberals are satisfied. When the Black Panthers or BLM, or the OWS thugs create harassment to others, Liberals remain silent. Same old story.

    1. Corey Mondello January 6, 2016

Ronald Reagan gave 11 MILLION “illegals” amnesty, while Obam has a record breaking amount of deportations under his belt. I think u need the facts, so stop watching FOX. As for Black Panthers, BLM, AND OWS folks, they all start out peaceful. It’s a proven fact that, when things get ugly, it’s usually because a conservative goes undercover and starts trying to get some violence going. As for Black Panthers, I am sure there would be a White Panthers or Tigers, if white people were physical blocked from voting. Again, time to stop watching FOX. There has been two studies that show people who watch FOX for their “news” are more uninformed then those who don’t watch, and that the viewers are also misinformed, meaning they believe lies, and know less than the average American. It’s the reason why conservatives LOVE Fox, they know they founding fathers warned of an uneducated populace!

      1. dpaano January 6, 2016

We don’t need Black Panthers, we have the Klu Klux Klan or other white supremacist groups to take care of the problem.

      2. paulyz January 6, 2016

Correction, it wasn’t Reagan’s Amnesty, it was the bi-partisan, Simson-Mazolli Act of Congressional Legislation, that gave a ONE-TIME Amnesty to 2.7 Million Illegals in 1986. Since all the enforcement measures were ignored, we now have over 12 Million Illegals.

Blacks blocked from voting? Are you kidding me? Many don’t even bother to vote unless bussed in, or motor voter registered. The NBP are the ones blocking Whites from voting.

Minority violence excused by you by blaming Conservatives is completely bull & racist.

    2. tomtype January 6, 2016

Same old story: Liberals are going in and shooting up the place. Killing all these old white dudes.
Oh, I forgot, the liberals are ignoring them just like they are ignoring the other non-issues. Please notice we sent most of the Somolis, who are all tropical, to live in Minneapolis. We send the Mexicans to live in Chicago, New York and Detroit, which are famous for thier near tropical climates. And many of the Syrians will end up in Detroit, because they already have most of them there for the past 100 years. And they already have relatives here to help them.
Now back to the outhouse, you ain’t near finished yet.

it is sad that these people think they are patriots and those of us who do not share their views are pawns of some evil federal government. Let’s not forget where this started with the Bundys’ failure to pay the minimal fees charged for grazing rights on lands held in trust for all the people in this country.

and let’s not forget and remind conservatives that, the “Red” states generally pay less in taxes already, all the while, getting back MORE from the Federal government than “Blue” states. Red states generally have more people on welfare, food stamps, etc. if it were for the “Liberal Agenda” they would never even had electricity extended out to them, or all the welfare they get. So when they talk about “redistribution of wealth”, and call it socialism, it is the more conservative, republican populated “Red” states that are the Socialists!

      1. joe schmo January 6, 2016

OK Gruber, You’re actually showing how much of a know-nothing city slicker you are.

Well, if you consider All the Hispanics in CA that take welfare and food stamps, Illegal or not. The biggest disparity between rich and poor…. OK pardnor. LOL, OK…

Redistribution of wealth did not work in France. Besides it is communist. You really don’t want to go down that road with me. My father escaped communism and I saw it as a kid after a visit there. Trust me it isn’t pretty…. You don’t want it here…..

        1. dpaano January 6, 2016

As a Californian, I’m pretty much aware that illegal aliens in this state do NOT get welfare, are not eligible for food stamps, and the only thing they DO get is a driver’s license (which requires them to have insurance so that those of us who they might accidentally hit or kill get taken care of). Additionally, a lot of them who work at jobs that pay them with a check get both Social Security AND Medicare taxes taken out of their checks although they are NOT eligible to receive these benefits in the future. So, they are paying for everyone’s Social Security benefits without being able to enjoy these benefits themselves! Of course, you wouldn’t know that because you don’t read or listen to anything for FAUX News.

I don’t blame the red states for using the programs, I blame them for needing the programs. You seem to believe that the people on welfare are all lazy bums. You also seem to believe that it’s a program that blacks use more then whites. in both cases you are wrong, mostly.

          3. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

Blacks use welfare at a much higher rate than whites do.

          4. Bee Nice January 6, 2016

      1. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

Conservatives Benefit Most From What They Demonize

Conservatives in the USA benefit the most from what they demonize: “distribution of wealth”, aka Socialism. Those living in “Red” states, which are primarily populated by conservative Christians, who believe they pay too much in taxes, actually pay less in taxes, while they get more back from the US government than those who do pay more taxes, which are the people who live in the more liberal “Blue” states, where the citizens are primarily Democrats, or Liberals.

“A Day in the Life of Joe Republican (Conservative)”

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee.

The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication.

His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance – now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs.

Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath.

The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work.

It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards.

Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

Its noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills.

Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protectJoe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive.

His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards.

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans.

The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck His nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good.

He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefitJoe enjoys throughout his day.

Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.”

(*Note: this was originally published (anonymously) under the title A Day in the Life of Joe Republican. But this is a misnomer. In the last 140 years, the Republican and Democratic parties have switched sides several times, with one being conservative and the other being liberal. But labels and party affiliations change. What doesn’t change are the underlying political philosophies of liberalism and conservatism, and the fact that the liberals usually turned out to be right and the conservatives turned out to be wrong. And so it goes.

Source:http://www.hcdems.com/misc/joe_conservative.html (no longer active at this time) Thanks goes to author, speaker and radio host Thom Hartmann, that is where I first heard it. There are many “versions” floating around on the internet also. NO ONE can argue when the facts are laid out for all to see.)

      1) We ALL want clean air and water but when you take it to an extreme it becomes an issue. We used to clear out the streams so that the water could flow to the ocean unscathed. The result of clogged rivers = towns flooding.

      2) We used to have fall control burns. Joe the farmer used to get an approval by the government to do this. This way, the brush could be burned and the new grasses could come up in the spring to feed the cattle to feed the masses. I guess next we will be eating soilent green? You don’t understand Ranching and farming so why bother talking about something you don’t know a thing about.

      3) Our air is cleaner than it used to be. Used to be that your eyes burned when you drove to LA. No more. If you want to work on clean air problems go to China and India.

      4) Your liberal government did not provide everything for Joe. It was a concerted effort by both parties that gave Americans the necessary programs to assist them during crisis and let’s not forget non-profits and philanthropists (private enterprise) for flipping the bill on some other necessary help.

      5) Again, car safety standards a concerted effort by capitalist innovation and government approval. A two sided street working together.

      6) Public transportation? LOL Considering how much is in EU we haven’t got all that much here. That is unless you live in NY or SF. Many people always resort back to driving.

      7) Have the Republicans passed all that much in the last 7+ years? No because they are holding hands with the corrupt liberals and bowing down to a divisive dictator in charge.

      8) Truth is most of what you have stated above comes from a consorted effort by BOTH parties. This is not a one-sided street. The pendulum is beginning to swing and, my hope, is that you lose the next election big time:) Paybacks will be a beeach.

      1. RED January 6, 2016

Exactly why there is no point in debating ignorant Cons. You’re too stupid and uninformed to know any realities. But of course, the Con Party is based on ignorance, anti-science, anti-immigration, ant-logic. But one point just for fun, although you being an ignorant Con will never comprehend but car manufacturers did not voluntarily improve safety standards, they fought it the whole way, remember moron safety standards costs money so the capitalist way to spend as little as possible. And if you weren’t an ignorant stupidity Con you would know that GM calculated how much deaths from their faulty accelerator would cost and decided dead people was cheaper than fixing it. But you ignorant Cons don’t actually even know anything about economics or even capitalism because you’re stupid. And you will remain stupid, I think it’s cause your Ignorant Con brain is wired different and you really can’t help being stupid and afraid. Sad, a truly terrible disease, the Con sickness

        1. joe schmo January 6, 2016

You can’t because, at this point, your desperation is very apparent. Problem is I am more informed than you will ever be.

Enlighten with me with your brilliance? I will take each point and contradict it.because I will research each fact. Some you will never be able to contradict because I have been there and you have not.

Let me guess, life long Union labor worker, car industry? Too bad all those jobs are going South. Liberals haven’t done a damn thing about keeping our jobs here have they? BTW Wow! Union circulation in NH has dropped from 75,000 to around 10—bad management. Those wonderful unions ……are ……dying……..and this is just in NH

Maybe if the car industry would stay in the U.S. there would be less recalls. After all, most car’s and parts are made in Mechico.

LOL, I loved economics in college:) Hmmmm, your last statements….you are starting to blather…..losing this debate.

          1. Carolyn1520 January 6, 2016

Or your uncle’s wife’s sister has been there. 🙂

          2. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

To bad you haven’t kept up with you information since college, the auto industry is coming back and it’s happening right here in the US. We just came off a record year and it looks like next year will be better. Just so you know the auto industry isn’t unhappy with recalls, in fact they make money every time there is one. For the price of replacing some small part they get people into their showrooms and can sell them new cars. Ask any new car sales person. As far as the unions killing the industry, There are unions in almost every car plant in the world. Our workers make $28 per hour average and the auto workers in Japan make $24 per hour but with better benefits.

          3. Bee Nice January 6, 2016

“Those wonderful unions ……are ……dying….”. And, that is why most people are not getting raises and are losing their benefits. When companies have the upper hand, they slap their workers silly with it.

      2. wills94 January 6, 2016

Nothing you’ve stated above is true or even remotely logical. You’ve got your Fox News victim goggles on and reality has become fiction to you. No point in arguing with a fence post – have a nice, conservative day.

      3. Carolyn1520 January 6, 2016

        Another mouth dump.

      4. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

Joe, do you know what a river is and who the Corp of Army Engineers are? Do you know that farmers can still do controlled burns but they must get a permit and they must be controlled unlike out rancher friends who burned off 145 acres of government land when their burn got out of control. Joe. who sets auto safety standards. the industry our the evil government? It’s the evil government that keeps your car safe and has made it get good fuel economy. If you lived in a state run by people who care about things other then the money they can put into the rich folks pockets you would have public transportation. As of right now who is keeping the government from working? It’s not the spineless Democrats, it’s the we hate Obama republicans.

        1. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

Market competition has done more to improve car safety than government regulation. Fuel economy regulations are stupid.

          1. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

Do you real believe that? If market forces made cars safe and people wanted safe cars then everyone would be driving Volvo’s. As far as fuel regulations being stupid you can thank them for your fuel economy.

          2. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

CAFE standards have all sorts of wasteful distorting effects, it’s a bad policy that we can’t get rid of .

          3. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

So say you. Because of CAFE standards your F150 gets better fuel economy then a 1960 VW.

          4. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

Look at the amount of waste that goes into compliance. It’s a bad policy.

          5. tomtype January 6, 2016

Look at the waste that goes into enforcing the law against robbing banks. All that money spent on guards, on security equipment, on alarms and vaults. Not to mention the traiining and chasing bank robbers. Why we even occasionally loose some lives from robbers and even police and customers. And all to keep people from robbing banks ;^)

          6. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

That’s a nonsensical comparison, for a number of reasons. For one, laws against robbing banks work as intended, CAFE standards don’t.

          7. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

Sorry but you are wrong, They improve fuel economy. That’s what they are meant to do.

          8. tomtype January 6, 2016

You mean no one tries to rob banks. If anyone tries to rob a bank anytime, anywhere, that law is not working as intended. Any time we improve mileage or reduced the pollution caused by any energy production, the law is working as intended. Have you noticed that Ford used to advertize the Focus as getting 23 mpg, and now they advertize it as getting 31 mpg. While both may be optomistic, they do also show that CAFE is working.

          9. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

CAFE standards lead to smaller cars which lead to more auto fatalities. They don’t help the environment, by distorting what types of cars are made you have wasteful production.

          10. Mortalc01l January 7, 2016

Complete and utter GARBAGE!! Auto fatalities are now at an ALL TIME LOW. Do you even BOTHER thinking before you type?? Jesus, you guys are so lazy that you can’t even be bothered to go to the NHTSA Website and look at the actual facts.

          11. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

Do you own a car? Do your you think the maker would do anything for you if the government didn’t make them. These companies are not your friends.

          12. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

            Try driving a BMW sometime.

          13. iamproteus January 6, 2016

Otto, I did. I didn’t like it. Far too expensive for what you get. I’ll take my made-in-America Ford any time!

          14. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

BMW makes a good car but I don’t think they are a great value. They are expensive to maintain and there dealer network isn’t great. I tend to go with Toyota. My dealers good and I get 200.000 miles from an American made car. I have had a lot of cars from just about every manufacture

          15. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

Companies produce quality products so I will want to buy them. The reason my car, clothes, stereo, etc., are excellent is not because of the government.

          16. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

Right now people don’t care about quality. Go look at what’s out there. the AK47 is a big seller right now, an out of date connie gun built in a third world nation. I get a bug to pick up a new gun from time to time. I decided I wanted a 12ga. double barreled open hammered shot gun. Yes I found a few nice ones if I want to pay more then I spent on my motorcycle. Most were cheep made in China crap. The worst part was the dealer can’t keep the cheep stuff in stock. People are buying guns just to buy them. Most are so bad I’d be afraid to shot them. Your car is much safer because of the government even though you didn’t buy it because it’s safe, your stereo doesn’t electrocute you because of government standards even though you never gave it a thought. The label in your cloths tells you the truth about what they are made of is there because of government standards. It’s all those government regulations that let you go into a store and buy without worrying about if the manufacture is lying to you. If you know how hard a company works to make you want those thing you buy you would be surprised.

          17. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

People do care about quality, and firearms are really high quality right now. There have been huge improvements in design and manufacturing processes, it’s easier to make good guns. Stop making things up.

          18. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

I work part time in retail and yes some people want quality but price is still king. Guns are the same way. If I had may choice I would own a gun or two from Steyr Mannlicher, I feel in love with them back when I was in the bicycle business and dealt with Steyr Dammiler Puch. They are beautiful but I just can’t bring myself to spend the money. The other end is the junk from China and some of the third world countries. All you need to do is slide the bolt to tell the difference. In many industries it’s the government that controls the base as far as quality. There is a rating system for small 2 cycle motors with a minimum allowed which you will find on you cheep chainsaw and bottom end line trimmers. There are a lot of things that are tested and rated by government standards. In a prefect world all manufactures would build the best they could but we don’t live in a perfect world. In other words they still make Saturday Night Specials.

          19. iamproteus January 6, 2016

What effects are you talking about, Otto? Seriously, I want to know. Please explain.

          20. Sand_Cat January 7, 2016

Keep telling yourself that. Some day you idiots should compose a “Bible” for your new god, The Market, may its holy name be praised.

      5. Robert Hodge January 6, 2016

Source:http://www.hcdems.com/misc/joe… (no longer active at this time) Thanks goes to author, speaker and radio host Thom Hartmann, that is where I first heard it. There are many “versions” floating around on the internet also. NO ONE can argue when the facts are laid out for all to see.)

      6. Sand_Cat January 7, 2016

You’re a liar when you say “we” all want clean air and water. And yes, in spite of several decades of GOP efforts to destroy the laws and agency which made it that way, our air is cleaner than it used to be, but is unlikely to stay that way should you and your fellow rightist lunatics gain power. And no need to point out Nixon signed some of the laws; if you have any sense at all, you must realize Nixon couldn’t win a GOP nomination for dogcatcher these days, even though he became a “conservative” hero at the time by lying his way through the Watergate scandal and most other issues. Even staunch conservatives like Barry Goldwater would likely be drummed out of the party: after all, he had the worst of all “liberal” faults: integrity and genuine concern for human beings and the country. You morons would flush the whole country down the toilet – and tried to do so all through Obama’s presidency – for revenge and politics.

      7. Corey Mondello January 8, 2016

Conservatives have never done anything good for anyone but the wealthy and those in power. The EPA was that commie liberal President Nixon, Republicans doing! LMFAP

Yeah, those programs are huge successes.

      1. tomtype January 6, 2016

      2. Robert Hodge January 6, 2016

      3. Bee Nice January 6, 2016

It used to be true, but the Republicans will not pass legislation to lower the interest rates of student loans. You have only your leaders to blame for this one not working.

    4. Robert Hodge January 6, 2016

Good one, I’d seen this before. You should forward this to “joe schmoe” who seems to be on this thread constantly. I’m sure he’d appreciate it (snark)!

    5. paulyz January 6, 2016

Joe is now broke & unemployed. His company folded because of over-taxation, overregulation, & moved overseas. Illegal Alien Trespassers are now performing millions of jobs he could be doing. Because of the high costs of Obamacare, Joe quit going to the Doctor & stopped his medications, and died. Overpopulation is causing severe water shortages, as well as more pollution and dependency on foreign oil. Joe’s wife also died because of unsafe, Spanish speaking Illegals driving on our roads, many drinking too much, resulting in a fatal accident. Now Joe’s children must be taken care of by the government whereas before, Joe took care of them. Joe’s children’s lives will be severely hampered by $20 Trillion in Socialist spending that not only doesn’t solve the problems, but worsens them, as we have seen under Obama. Please Mr. Big Federal Government Liberal/Socialist, quit helping me!

      1. Sand_Cat January 7, 2016

If it moved overseas, it likely wasn’t to avoid “overtaxation,” and “overregulation” is what you and they call outrageous government interference with their right to poison air and water and kill their workers. Face it, pauly: you haven’t got a leg to stand on, and even if you did in any way, you always pick those who abuse their “freedom” the most to cite as examples of those poor unfortunates victimized by the government.

        1. paulyz January 8, 2016

When Trump or Cruz become President, they will do what New York did to bring business & jobs there, and that is to lower the corporate tax rates. When this happens to the entire Country, many businesses will return & others will not leave, if they can become competitive with countries that have much lower corporate taxes, regulations, & labor costs. All you Socialists do is complain about your wealth paranoia, when businesses need to make a profit. You are a gullible, useful idiot believing what they want you to believe about “poisoning our air & water”. You are living in the past, sensible regulations have been in place for decades. MILLIONS of people, including Illegals entering the U.S. are creating more pollution, more dependence on foreign oil, overuse of our natural resources, plus excessive demands on our schools, health care, & prisons.

  14. TheSkalawag929 January 6, 2016

While this story reads like it could be an actual conversation being held by two white guys out in the middle of the boonies, occupying an inconsequential federal building, realizing that they are looking like the butt end of a joke I think it’s a nicely contrived bit of fiction. After all how would Mr. Pitts be close enough to hear or record the conversation and still get out alive? And would either of those guys openly admit to what is in the story?

No, we see it in real life:) My story above comes from real sources. I lived on a ranch, I know ranchers. You don’t!

And if you don’t know first hand then your cousin’s friend’ s wife’s brother sure does. 🙂

        2. bobnstuff January 6, 2016

If you live on a ranch then you have benefited from all the work the department of agriculture has done over the years, keeping prices up and teaching farmers better ways to grow things. You also know that you couldn’t own the range land for the price you can lease it for from the government. You aren’t the only one living in farm country.

        3. Bee Nice January 6, 2016

I don’t know why you are bragging about ranchers when they are most often subsidized by tax payers. And, they get a lot of tax breaks. You should love the government! You have really been brainwashed. But, maybe your family got rich from all those subsidies, so you can look down on everyone else now? I don’t know what your story is, but I do know ranchers get subsidies and tax breaks (called “welfare” when poor people get government help).

This article is an insult! I know many ranchers. They are tough individuals and not stupid like this article portrays. Stewart’s of the land. They know more about what’s going on in our government than you do.

Many Native Americans had control burns in the fall months to burn off the brush so that game would come in the spring or to bring the game out in the face of a fire. Fire escaping during a burn is a common occurrence and it happens in CA quite often. Someone can be welding on their property and a fire may get away from them. Most they used to get is a fine. Because of environmental restrictions the underbrush and the creeks that used to be cleared now result in massive fires that get away from firefighters and waters that flood towns. How stupid!

Yes, Whites in America’s modern world are very insignificant, but what seems to be happening? The real primitives who have been promoted and forged forward are dismantling a once great society built by Western culture. The result, they taking us back to a lawless primitive time.

Authorities hands are being tied while sanctuary cities contribute to the crimes committed by vagrants. We bring in people destructive to our culture turning it into a 3rd world.

Open your eyes libs, your government and the likes of the liberal elitist’s are destroying a once prosperous innovative nation. You will soon reduced to the people in Mexico living in cardboard boxes and throwing their trash out the back door.

Tell me, do you want to become as corrupt as Mexico (who’s female mayor was just killed by cartel the other day) or Africa where it’s leaders are so corrupt that the people are left in poverty. Or do you want to become Muslims and take us back in time where gays are killed and women have to wear burkas? I thought you fight for human rights?

Well, it sure doesn’t seem that way to me.

Apparently, you are the one who is lazy and uninformed. And, the government does do work for us because we’re the ones that pay them!

        3. Carolyn1520 January 6, 2016

          What debate?
There is your fact free editorial and nothing to debate.

Lol, you’re like the rest of those right wing nuts schmo joe, you’re a LOSER! You wouldn’t know a debate from a date, you’d lose every argument anyway and go home all alone. Misinformed, uninformed and duh!

        5. Bee Nice January 6, 2016

Your ranchers friends/family get welfare from us tax payers, so you should be careful how you talk about us.

      2. drdroad January 6, 2016

I actually don’t think that actually needs to be pointed out, pretty obvious.

    3. dpaano January 6, 2016

Unfortunately, you’ve got it wrong. It’s these insurrectionists who are taking us back to a “lawless, primitive time.” They are going against Federal law and taking land that belongs not to the government, but to the entire United States. They have NO right to take land away that actually belongs to all of us nor do they have the right to not pay the proper taxes for the use of that land….they are taking money of OUR pockets, not the government’s. If you (and the Bundy’s) had their way, we would have NO pastoral land, no rivers, no lakes, no grasslands, no deer, no waterfalls, nothing. They’d cut down the forests, drill on the land, and kill all the animals along the way! This is NOT what the people of the US want, and this is the reason why this land is Federal land and belongs to all of us!
As for the female mayor in Mexico….she wasn’t the mayor of Mexico; she was the mayor of a town in Mexico. And, despite your comments, not ALL Muslims are terrorists and want to take us back to wearing burkas! Muslims follow their religion, just as Catholics do; just as other religions do. If they want their women to wear burkas, that’s their religion…..gee, I remember when women had to wears hats or scarves in a Catholic church. We certainly didn’t call them terrorists because of this….and, the Mormons wear their “secret” undergarments, and we don’t seem to have problems with this.

    4. ray January 6, 2016

What about the 1% buying off the GOP? I think that’s damned corrupt.

    5. Carolyn1520 January 6, 2016

Of course you know many ranchers. Are all of them named Stewart? 🙂

    6. Robert Hodge January 6, 2016

      I didn’t know the “Mayor of Mexico” was a woman…………………..Mayor of Mexico….hysterical!!!..
Now go back to your Faux Noise machine and let the ADULTS take over…buh bye.

      1. CrankyToo January 6, 2016

I owe you a debt of gratitude, RH. Not being able to to suffer the odious nonsense which emanates from Joe’s keyboard, I have a tendency to ignore everything after “schmo”. Thus, I missed the “Mayor of Mexico” bit. Thanks for the chuckle.

The fact that you find this insulting is the best recommendation you could give it. I notice right off the bat you talk about how they’re “tough,” as if that justifies them. You’re just like all the other insecure pipsqueak males on the right who admire those who are abusive bullies.
All these tough guys enjoys loads of subsidies from that tyrannical government, without which most of them would be the people you clearly hate and strive to make as miserable as possible: the poor. But somehow, they’re all “tough” and “patriotic,” when you would – and do – denounce with malice and venom any group of poor, especially non-white, people who did the same.

I know you think this country should be a Fascist dictatorship like your wet dreams, but most reasonably bright people can see you for what you are.

      1. @HawaiianTater January 6, 2016

“All these tough guys enjoys loads”

    9. Bee Nice January 6, 2016

Ranchers are successful at least partly because they are often subsidized (popularly known as “welfare”) by tax payers and they get a lot of tax breaks.

    10. MJRinPA January 7, 2016

A “controlled burn” wouldn’t have burned 139 acres o public land. There wouldn’t have been an arson case going to court.

not to mention it was his second arson offense. schmo is a son of escaped Nazis and holds true to their ideology.

They are seriously committing treason and should be arrested and thrown in jail! I’m sure most of the ranchers there aren’t happy with their actions and would prefer them to leave peacefully!!! 1. Otto Greif January 6, 2016

No, for repeatedly expressing bigoted anti-white opinions.

        1. tomtype January 6, 2016

What bigoted anti-white opinions. He is simply calling a bunch of fools, a bunch of fools. That sounds more like plain speaking and not using mincing words. And talk about a bunch of outside agitators. They are not from Oregon, but rather Arizona and Nevada, and they are trying to make trouble.

        2. Sand_Cat January 6, 2016

You constantly express bigoted opinions far worse than anything I’ve ever seen from Mr. Pitts.
You clowns are all the same: you haven’t a leg to stand on, or a legitimate complaint to make, so you project all your multiple failings on those who oppose you.

    Hey Schmo

It is “Stewards of the Land – not STEWARTS of the Land. Even a third grader knows the difference.

These people have seized Federal Property. They are occupying in violation of existing law.
If these PATRIOTS want to make an issue there is the LEGAL way and that is through the Courts all the way to the Supreme Court if feasible. If all of the “Patriots” in this Country support these beings then let every “Patriot”.

Common Ranchers interested in the land? Ammon Bundy is a millionaire businessman and resides near Phoenix, Arizona. He secured a 530,000 loan from the Govt. in 2010 for his business there.

His Dad, Cliven? He is a multi millionaire ranch owner that does not live on the property.

Where do you get that they are Stewards of the land?

If the BLM and Authorities want ot bring this to an end quickly they should immediately shut off all utilities to this building and surrounding properties They should close the gates and allow no exit or egress. No food or supplies. No defection or addition. When these millionaires come out then they can pursue this through the judicial system all the way tto the Supreme Court.

Militia? If you can read and comprehend – the meaning of Militia.

Now – if this was a groups of Blacks what would they be? Thugs and welfare mongers
Brown people – they would be – Terrorists?
    Bunch of millionaires – Militia?

Money? Hell, you bleeding heart Patriots can provide all the money they need for legal costs. Each one of you just give $5,000.00 each and Bundy has all the resources he needs. Come on – dig in your pocket Boy – you and your Bubbas can do this.

These guys seem to want a shoot out. The government is letting them stew. All the good patriots should be screaming for the government to go in and arrest or kill these fools, but the government doesn’t really want to kill them. And how many are complaining that the government is being too strict? And Mr. Pitts rightly points out they haven’t a clue.

These self-styled “patriots” keep using the phrase “the government” as if it were some other-worldly entity. All the while they’re forgetting the more important phrase “We the people.” Our government is made up of citizens who have applied for a job working for the government as well as citizens who have been elected by a majority of the people in their area (or in the case of national elections, the majority of the country’s voters).

These are the people they do not have the support of; the majority of the AMERICAN PEOPLE!

They should quietly go home to their families, and ask for forgiveness.

          6. Eleanore Whitaker January 10, 2016

Ida, You just know somewhere in all of this “patriotism” of these lunatics there is the specter of Big Oil. I say this because when I listened to the panel in the House and Senate regarding allowing states like Alaska, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Texas, Colorado and other Republican states to “claim federal land” as state property, it was Alaska’s Murkowski, Inohfe and Hoeven, all oil state Republicans would pitched their pleas to hand back federal land to their states. So you know what they are up to…using federal land we and our ancestors paid billions in taxes to maintain to force the rest of the states to pay for the use of federal lands like the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore and all of the Native American land they can’t get their syrupy mitts on at present to raise state funds for their states. Sorry..not unless they want to repay all of the federal taxes we all paid for federal land.

          7. idamag January 10, 2016

Idaho Nevada, and Utah have started one after another of trying to wrench our public lands away from us They had he sagebrush rebellion and I am not sure what they call themselves, now. I do know they are spending a bundle on propaganda. Those behind it, here, are miners, loggers and billionaire cattle ranchers. Maybe if we all stop eating beef for a while we will show them they can’t steal our country from us.

          8. Eleanore Whitaker January 11, 2016

There is a way to remedy this theft of public lands. Slap these states with fines equal to the amount we taxpayers paid for the upkeep and maintenance of these federal properties.

Republicans are more and more encouraging their state constituents to buck federal laws and pull away from the federal government they freeload the most from. That has to stop. Our tax dollars do not have to be handed inequitably to Republican states who flout federal laws. Fine them in proportion to the amount they owe taxpayers in other law abiding states for the taxes we all paid. Just because federal land is located in their states doesn’t mean they and only they own that land. If that’s the case, then we can all confiscate Federal highways in our states they use to transport their goods.
