QAnon Supporters 'Beg' For A Trump Dictatorship On Twitter

QAnon is roiling social media, again -- but this time it's not merely conspiracy theory,. QAnon is promoting a social media campaign that undermines freedom, democracy, and everything else that Americans hold dear.

According to NBC News, influencers in the QAnon community are begging for a Trump dictatorship, urging the soon to be ex-president to #crosstherubicon.

The hashtag, which is spreading like wildfire throughout the far-right QAnon community, refers to Roman Empire dictator Julius Caesar and his army crossing of the Rubicon River, which initiated a civil war and led to his dictatorship.

Already #crosstherubicon has made it up the chain of GOP leaders, the biggest being Arizona GOP Chairwoman Kelly Ward, NBC noted.

"We are working every avenue to stop this coup & to stop our Republic from crumbling," she tweeted. "Patriots are united. Those who are against us are exposing themselves. #Liberty & #freedom are on the line. #CrossTheRubicon @GenFlynn"

In the comment section of her absolutely ludicrous statement, many Twitter users called out the irony of using words like "liberty" or "freedom" when referring to a Trump dictatorship.

Some of the more outlandish uses of the hashtag came from one user, @saltycracker9, who seemed to be comparing Trump overthrowing our democracy to American independence from the British by using the #crosstherubicon with an edited picture meant to resemble one of the most famous paintings of George Washington.

The emergence of the absurd hashtag comes as Trump's days in office are quickly dwindling, and he ramps up his attempts of doing as much damage in the final days of his presidency as possible.

Last night Sen. Amy Klobuchar went on Maddow, saying: "(Trump) is literally trying to burn this country down on his way out."

After the Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear a lawsuit from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to overturn the election, many far-right pro-Trump media figures, social media personalities, Republican Party officials, and former congressional candidates expressed support for secession from the United States or the use of the military to overturn the election which President Donald Trump lost.

The lawsuit sought, in a "seditious abuse of judicial process," to invalidate the election results from several swing states that contributed to President-elect Joe Biden's victory. This extreme attempt to overthrow our democracy garnered mainstream Republican support, with 17 GOP state attorneys general and more than half of House Republicans signing on in support of it.

Democratic Senate Candidate Ties Trump Around John McCain

Democratic Senate Candidate Ties Trump Around John McCain

We now officially have an ad from a Democratic Senate candidate using Donald Trump’s rise to slam Republicans in a crucial down-ballot race. The contender in question is Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, who is running against one of the biggest names in GOP politics, Sen. John McCain.

Something to consider: She might not ultimately be running against McCain — because he’s facing a far-right primary challenger on the GOP side, former state senator Kelli Ward. As such, this ad skillfully corners McCain on his obligation to endorse the eventual Republican nominee for president, while painting a picture for the voters of just how crazy things have become.

The ad does not appear to be on TV, but the Kirkpatrick campaign’s press release says it “will be supported by an online ad buy.”

“Donald Trump is dangerous for America,” the announcer says — as video then plays of some of The Donald’s more infamous remarks: “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue — and shoot somebody — and I wouldn’t lose any voters, okay… I would bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding.”

“But no matter what Donald Trump says, John McCain would support him for president,” the announcer says, playing video of McCain promising to support the eventual Republican nominee — even including Trump: “Oh yeah.”

The video also mixes in some of Trump’s public vulgarity, such as, “She said he’s a pussy”; “I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell ya,” and his dreadful remark about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her — wherever.”

The ad then tells viewers about a the recent article in The New York Times, which details Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell’s plans to distance his Senate party members from Trump — but not McCain, the announcer says.

Indeed, McCain is presented as being so feckless that he would still support The Donald even after the latter bashed McCain’s military service and years spent as a prisoner of war: “He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, okay? I hate to tell you.”

“There was a time when country mattered more than his political party — but 30 years in Washington have changed John McCain,” the announcer says. “We need leaders to stand up to Donald Trump.”
