Worried by Donald Trump’s actions and statements concerning China? Freaked out by his belligerence and ignorance about a rising superpower that holds more than a trillion dollars in Treasury debt along with its thermonuclear arsenal?

So is Trevor Noah — a comic whose Trump impression is dead on, by the way — and he can’t help wondering about the president-elect’s contradictory explanations for his controversial phone call with Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen. It’s complicated, like America’s diplomatic relationships with the two Chinese governments — but there is the matter of “respect.” The problem is that Trump “doesn’t do respect, he doesn’t play protocol.”

A clueless new president could mislead us into a trade war with our biggest commercial partner — or worse. But at least we’ll have a few laughs.
