#EndorseThis: Borat And Daughter Inflict 'Virus Inspection' On Kimmel

You may have heard by now that Sacha Baron Cohen is about to release his new movie -- Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, or Borat 2 for short – on Amazon Prime. You may also have heard that this film includes a "beyond cringe" bedroom scene starring the real Rudy Giuliani and a very young woman posing as a reporter.

More on that later. For the moment, here's Borat himself appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he subjects the late-night comic to an intrusive "coronavirus inspection." This episode of comedic anarchy is in fact a send-up of QAnon, the vicious, anti-Semitic conspiracy craze that has devoured the Republican Party.

It gets pretty wild, with a clip from the new movie and an appearance by Borat's "daughter" Tutara (the would-be seducer of Rudy).

Enjoy -- and just imagine what's yet to come.

#EndorseThis: Kimmel Delivers A Sick Burn On Trump Photo Op

Like every other sane American, Jimmy Kimmel feels outraged by what we've witnessed this past week, beginning with the police murder of George Floyd. No matter how much trouble we encounter as a nation, however, Trump will find a way to make matters worse – as he did on June 1 when he used military force to clear peaceful protesters for a photo op in front of St. John's Church.

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, who oversees that historic church, delivered what Kimmel terms a "sick burn" on the president after the photo op. But Kimmel himself delivers his own sick burn -- in what he describes as a White House "highlight reel" of that incident. In the 30-second video Trump strides across the street with his posse, brandishes the Bible (upside down), and then…well, let's just call it divine intervention.

It's too, too funny. You'll watch it over and over again. And if you can't wait, that "highlight reel" starts around 5:30.

Click and laugh at that scary clown.

#EndorseThis: Why Those UFOs Worry Jimmy Kimmel

The Air Force's release of video showing unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, is worrying Jimmy Kimmel in lockdown. It's not just the pandemic, it's the president. "Has there ever been a worse time for an alien to say 'Take me to your leader'? I think I'd just lead them to, like, Morgan Freeman's house or something."

But with Trump urging us all to chug Clorox, the UFOs aren't even the biggest news of the week. What about Kim Jong Un, the North Korean dictator and Trump pal who is missing and rumored dead? Trump hints that he knows what's going on with his thuggish pal -- which Jimmy says must mean he knows nothing.

We also learned this week that US intelligence officials warned Trump a dozen times about the looming pandemic last January and February, trying to get his attention while he was mostly playing golf. Their fatal mistake, notes Kimmel, was putting that crucial information in a briefing book. They should have warned him with a dancing cheeseburger on Twitter.

#EndorseThis: Kimmel Disdains Dan Patrick’s ‘Let ‘Em Die’ Plan

In Jimmy Kimmel’s latest #minilogue, recorded on his front porch, the comic asks viewers to send examples of video art they have created at home (and airs an amusing sample of a #quarantimekiller.)

But the gist of his rap concerns Dan Patrick, who revealed the essence of right-wing ideology on Fox News.

The once obscure and now notorious Patrick is the Texas Republican who told Tucker Carlson that older people, most at risk in the pandemic, should sacrifice their safety – and perhaps their lives – to save the economy from ruin. The entire episode is reminiscent of that infamous 2011 presidential debate when Republican audience members cried “let him die” about a young man without health insurance.

Kimmel isn’t impressed by this logic, nor by Patrick’s acknowledgment that this admonition doesn’t make him “a hero.” (It makes him something else, as Jimmy notes.) Of course Kimmel is equally disturbed by Donald Trump, whose eagerness to “open up the country by Easter” and Trumpian narcissism are on fulsome display this week.

To lighten the mood he also brings us a remote serenade by Dave Matthews, playing a lovely acoustic version of Paul Simon’s “American Tune.”
