#EndorseThis: Colbert Roasts The Royals And Piers Morgan

With four years of an imbecile in the Oval Office, late night hosts have had a plethora of material to keep viewers amused, however darkly. But Oprah Winfrey's interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry -- and its aftermath -- offer an entirely new comic opportunity.

All late night hosts have had their way with the Royal Family, but it's Stephen Colbert for the win. It's a joy to watch him dismantle the "royal rebuttal" and take down "Spotted Dick" Piers Morgan, who had an embarrassing tantrum and then quit Good Morning Britain.

Dressed in a ridiculous herald outfit, Colbert notes how "fans of the royal family dumped a crumpet in their knickers." He doesn't let up -- and you will laugh.

Trump’s UK Visit Marred By ‘Nasty’ Remark About Duchess Markle

Trump’s UK Visit Marred By ‘Nasty’ Remark About Duchess Markle

Trump’s rude comment about Meghan Markle, the American-born Duchess of Sussex, continues to overshadow his visit to the UK.

On Monday, while he was in transit to the UK for a three-day state visit, he continued to deny that he called Markle “nasty” — even though the comment was clearly captured on tape — and insisted he won’t apologize to the royal family for his actions.

“No, I made no bad comment,” Trump told a reporter who asked Trump whether he planned to apologize for calling Markle “nasty.”

The brouhaha over Trump’s unnecessary badmouthing of Markle — who just gave birth to a son with the UK’s Prince Harry — began when Trump sat down for an interview with the Sun, a British tabloid.

The Sun asked Trump what he thought about Markle’s comments during the 2016 election, when she called Trump “misogynistic.”

“I didn’t know that she was nasty,” Trump said in response.

The comment quickly made the rounds on all the news channels, as Trump has just badmouthed a member of the British royal family he was about to travel across the Atlantic to visit on a diplomatic tour of the UK.

And rather than apologize for his remark, he’s taken the bizarre route of flatly denying he said anything bad, even though anyone with ears can hear that he called the duchess “nasty.”

It’s not the only diplomatic blunder Trump made on this trip, which has just barely begun.

Before touching down in London, he lobbed immature insults at London Mayor Sadiq Khan. Khan has also criticized Trump, writing in an op-ed that Britain should not celebrate Trump’s racism and bigotry.

Ultimately, only someone as vengeful and thin-skinned as Trump could screw up a state visit before he even stepped foot in the country he was visiting.

#EndorseThis: John Oliver Scolds The Queen Alone In Royal Wedding Rant

#EndorseThis: John Oliver Scolds The Queen Alone In Royal Wedding Rant

Our headline for Monday morning’s #EndorseThis is a bit deceiving. John Oliver does not begin his rant on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding with a snooty impression of Queen Elizabeth II.

An obsessed state-side media is Oliver’s first target. The comic plays footage of wedding-broadcast announcer Gayle King croaking out a James Blunt song for not one, not two, but three cringe-worthy choruses. In the afterglow, King compares the “bottoms” of Markle and Princess Diana approximately 37 times, oblivious to the double meaning.

Don’t worry, reassures a devilish Oliver. Brits are too blue-blooded to lust after a bride’s bottom without collapsing.

Then the monarchy gets finally gets the needle. The HBO host bubbles over in glee when royal family elders appear to sulk and fall half-asleep during Bishop Michael Curry’s sermon. Just listening to Curry talk about music and dance seems to tire them out. In response, Oliver launches into a send-up of Elizabeth that is as affectionate as it is vicious.
