  • The EXACT same response that we see from the NRA about mass killings by WHACK JOBS with semi-automatic hand guns and rifles, high capacity magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammo.

Regardless what the WHACK JOBS who preach about the, (DISTORTED READING OF), the Second Amendment say, THESE MACHINES ARE DESIGNED WITH ONE PURPOSE ONLY!

That purpose is the efficient KILLING AND MAIMING OF PEOPLE, in huge quantities!

WHEN WILL THE RIGHTS OF INNOCENT CHILDREN, (AND ADULTS), BECOME MORE IMPORTANT TO US THAN THE RIGHTS OF MURDERERS TO HAVE UNLIMITED ACCESS TO THESE KILLING MACHINES?

Certainly, background checks will not stop the slaughter of innocent people, BUT IT CAN SLOW THE PROGRESSIVE INCREASE IN THESE CRIMES!

The reality is this. THE MORE GUNS AVAILABLE, THE MORE SLAUGHTER WE WILL HAVE TO ENDURE.

More guns is NOT the answer.

    • You’re exactly right, Jim. People misinterpret what the Second Amendment means. An amendment is a correction of an article in the origina Bill of Rights. In this case, it is Article 1, Section 8, Subsection 16. It reads, “To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the militia and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the United States, respectively, the appointment of the officers and the authority and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline proscribed by Congress.” It says nothing about citizens owning or arming themselves with deadly, mass killing, military styled weapons or people arming themselves in the insane belief of fighting against a tyrant. The number one violator of human rights under the Universal declaration of Human Rights is Century Gun Manufactures who produce and sells these types of arms all over the world, even to the people America has to fight. Gun manufacturers are behind the NRA, their biggest lobbyist, and the NRA relies on the ignorance, white supremacy, and hubris of the masses to push their agenda forward without paying a dime for it. They play on the childish fears of the masses that there’s a boogie man under the bed, and they fall for it hook line and sinker.

      • Thanks, Robert. It’s good to see a positive response from someone with common sense.

I really expected some faux intellectual blather from the likes of BOZO.

But the day is still young, so it’s likely he, or one of his acolytes, will spew some insane garbage about how more guns will somehow solve the problem.

Then we can read some obscure quote from someone BOZO happened to find on Disqus.

  • Considering the war-profiteers of the Republicunt and neo-Confederate Tea Bags, America should think long and hard about entering internal conflicts in other countries that are not direct threats to America or Americans. America should remember the conflicts in Egypt, Algeria, and Libya, and the thanks it got in Benghazi.

I hope large numbers of emotionally laden comics do not prompt us to get involved in Syria.
Assad, Iran and Hezbollah fighting against Sunni Fundamentalists including Al Qaeda offshoots…How precious is that?

  • So is Danziger and The National Memo now proposing the U.S. dive headfirst into another civil war with no clear purpose and no means of exit?

Bush-Cheney and the rest of that evil administration lied to us and steered us into 2 long, expensive, deadly wars that destabilized not only individual nations, but the entire Middle East region.

Yes, Saddam Hussein was evil, but his Iraq was a stabilizing factor in the Middle East. If he had remained in power, he would not have allowed Iran to develop nuclear arms, nor would Iran have been able to support the current Syrian government of Assad.

The current government in Iraq, which the U.S. installed, is weak, corrupt, and teetering on collapse. Our troops still remain in Afghanistan, supporting an even weaker and more corrupt government. When the U.S. leaves, the Taliban will overrun that nation and take charge once again. Are we going to jump in again when “our” Afghan government falls again?

Yes, the situation in Syria is tragic, but the U.S. does not owe it to everyone to jump in to help overthrow a government that we do not like.

Read your Middle East history, Assad will eventually fall, and when he does, there may be voting for a time, but eventually a government that is just as evil and dictatorial as Assad will eventually take over.again!

6,000 children and 54,000 other people killed in the US , by guns, in the last two years. Obviously, congress doesn’t care about that so why would they care about dead children and adults in other countries? All our congress cares about is getting re-elected and if kissing the NRA’s ass is what is needed then that is what they will do.

I don’t want to hear one SOP Republican congressman say how bad they feel about the Newtown shootings because they don’t give a rats ass about those children.
