For most of the last decade, the flow of misinformation was often easy to track in media, with right-wing media often forcing mainstream outlets to follow the stories and tone they favored. Now, a couple of months into President Donald Trump’s administration, this pattern has changed and new players have entered the ecosystem. Groups that used to be contained to their own bubble have been able to insert themselves into the food chain and been able to spread not just misleading, but patently false information to right-wing outlets and sometimes even in turn to mainstream media. A new dubious allegation regarding Susan Rice, former national security adviser to President Barack Obama, illustrates how this new pattern can spread pro-Trump misinformation and propaganda from fringe sources into mainstream media outlets.

Recently, fake news and the white nationalist “alt-right” movement have become two of the country’s biggest problems in terms of fighting misinformation. Both government officials and websites like Facebook and Google are trying to lessen the harmful impact as websites that share fake news continue to mislead news consumers. And the “alt-right” is growing in prominence thanks in part to President Donald Trump’s choice of Stephen Bannon, the former chairman of “alt-right” website Breitbart News, as his chief strategist. Fringe “alt-right” forums, on sites like Reddit, 4chan, and 8chan, exercise influence by pushing conspiracy theories and leading harassment campaigns.

These different groups do not operate in a vacuum. Repeatedly, they have come together to spread and amplify their misinformation and claims. Often, a claim will start on a fringe outlet or forum, and other such sites will amplify the misinformation, then fake news purveyors will push it, and then the claim will jump into more traditional right-wing media before sometimes spreading into mainstream media. Trump aides and other people connected to Trump have even promoted some of those stories, crucially helping them break through at times.

And that brings us to Rice.

On April 2, Mike Cernovich, a self-described member of the “alt-right,” claimed in a post on Medium that the “White House Counsel’s office identified Rice as the person responsible for the unmasking” of Trump officials caught in surveillance of foreign officials “after examining Rice’s document log requests.” The claim then spread among fringe outlets such as The Gateway Pundit — which said the unmasking “was purely for political purposes” — and Infowars, and spread via posts on 4chan and Reddit.

Cernovich_Medium

As the claim started getting pickup on Twitter, Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, promotedCernovich with a tweet linking to the main page of his Medium blog (the next day, Donald Trump. Jr praised Cernovich for “breaking the #SusanRice story”).

Trump_Jr._Cernovich

The claim was then echoed by Bloomberg’s Eli Lake, who added a layer of credibility to the attempted smear, writing that Rice “requested the identities of U.S. persons in raw intelligence reports on dozens of occasions that connect to the Donald Trump transition and campaign.” Meanwhile, multiple fake news purveyors hyped the allegations, dubiously claiming that Rice “could be headed to jail” for “absolute treason.”

Lake conceded in his piece, however, that Rice’s requests “were likely within the law.” Legal and national security experts echoed that conclusion, saying Rice’s actions weren’t “odd or wrong,” did not indicate “anything improper whatsoever,” and were “within the scope of the job of a national security advisor like Rice.” Lake’s caveats did not prevent him from going on both Sean Hannity’s radio and Fox News show, where the right-wing host described the story as “worse than Watergate.”

As the claim spread into the mainstream, some in right-wing media criticized mainstream outlets for not giving the story enough attention or for not presenting it the way they would. Although some mainstream figures have echoed the consensus of experts, others have also suggested that Rice could be guilty of some kind of wrongdoing. Fox News in particular insisted that something must be improper if not illegal about Rice’s actions, and in their scramble to claim they may have had the story before Cernovich, likely outed themselves as another outlet that the White House used as a puppet for the Rice leak.

Right-wing criticism of mainstream media’s coverage will likely ramp up, spurring some mainstream outlets to defend their coverage or possibly tweak some of their framing under pressure.

This is the new media ecosystem in the Trump era. No longer are these false claims all originating in traditional right-wing media before mainstream outlets give in to pressure to cover them. Now they can start from these fringe pro-Trump propaganda outlets, with right-wing media picking them up. Meanwhile, members of the “alt-right” continue to gain more prominence and acceptance in traditional conservative and conservative media circles. Indeed, radio host Rush Limbaugh, while hyping the Rice story, bragged that mainstream media outlets are “not the arbiters anymore”; whitewashed the original source of the story, Cernovich, as simply a “pro-Trump blogger,” and said CBS’ 60 Minutes “tried to destroy him”; and criticized mainstream outlets for dismissing the story because it was pushed by right-wing media.

This is not the first example of misinformation following such a trajectory. In March, after a federal judge in Hawaii placed a hold on Trump’s revised Muslim ban, fringe “alt-right” outlets such as Infowars and Gateway Pundit pushed a conspiracy theory that appeared to have started on Reddit alleging that Obama conspired with the judge. The claim then spread among fake news purveyors and was pushed by Donald Trump Jr. before breaking through to more traditional conservative media figures and outlets like Hannity and the Independent Journal Review. Later that month, in order to back up Trump’s false claim that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower, Infowars dubiously claimed it had National Security Agency documents that provided proof. The claim made its way around other “alt-right” outlets and fake news purveyors and wound up being pushed at the top of the Drudge Report.

This is the danger that the new media environment presents. The fringe is no longer being siloed; it has actively been raised into the mainstream by pro-Trump forces both known and unknown, and has been repeatedly validated by both mainstream reporters and especially an administration that has no hesitation about lying to the world. It’s crucial that mainstream media outlets understand this new environment and the kind of claims and conspiracy theories it puts forth. It is one thing to share the mainstream with extremist cranks, propagandists, and liars. It’s another thing to succumb and do their pro-Trump misinforming for them.

  1. Lynda Groom says:

Just why they fear so much intelligent and accomplished men and women of color is truly astounding. Can someone kindly explain that to me?

    • kep says:

What a bunch of BS. Rice is a pathological liar just as her boss was. The Emperor elevated lying and deceipt to that of a sought after virtue. The Obama regime was nothing but lies. It is so unfortunate that there are such un-American liberal outlets spreading liberal propaganda, and people like you are so uninformed as to believe them. So sad.

      • Lynda Groom says:

Fake news is rotting your ability to tell the difference be agenda driven drivel and reality. Lib, lib, lib nonsense does not make your rant relevant or within the ballpark of the realtiy of the rights aversion to men and women of color.

        • kep says:

Propaganda and your willingness to blindly follow the liberal communists has you believing things that are just wrong.

          • Lynda Groom says:

I suppose you want to believe that Ms Rice broke tradition or the law in the latest nothing burger circulating in Washington circles. Here are some quotes from those in the know you might want to consider.

Reitred Gen Michael Hayden, former director of the NSA was asked if Ms Rice did something unusual or illegal. Quote: “Absolutely lawful. Even somewhat routine.’ He further states ‘To summarize, on its face, not even close to a smoking gun.’ He further added ‘The request to unmask would not be automatically granted. NSA would adjudicate that, although I’m certain a request from the national security adviser would carry great weight.’

Michael Doran, a former NSC aide under President George W. Bush said ‘I did it a couple of times.’ It is clearly not unusual for a WH official, with high security clearances, to request unmasking.

This is not some nefarious ‘liberal communists’ nonsense that took place. Too just blab on about lib this, lib that and commie stuff is keeping you from seeing facts. If you want to stay in the bubble of ‘fake news’ that is your choice.

          • kep says:

What exactly do you know about being an American, Comrade? Most likely only what you were taught in your indoctrination classes back in Mother Russia. What have you ever served, except perhaps yourself? You are an empty minded, soulless liberal sheeple..

          • idamag says:

I wonder how many people know that the United States had a very active nazi party prior to December 7, 1941. After that they went underground and eventually came out under different names, one being the John Birch Society. They created a panic about the communists that were going to come down your chimney while you were sleeping. The uber fascist, joe mccarthy, caused people to lose their jobs and some were even jailed. This, like the Japanese American resettlement, is another shameful black mark on the U.S. Anyone who is yammering about communists are just another would be fascist or actually an active one.A strong democracy does not turn communist. A democracy that becomes an oligarchy might.

          • FireBaron says:

Propaganda and your willingness to blindly follow the conservative, racist, reactionary, misogynists has you believing that things are just right.

          • The lucky one says:

LOL, really. Do you actually not realize how “willingness to blindly follow” perfectly fits Trump’s fans?

          • Wolfesgang says:

Even if you take ‘liberal’ strictly in the sense of American usage, “liberal communists” is a contradiction in itself.

          • kep says:

Liberals hsave embraced the communist doctrine. Redistribution of wealth freom the those that have worked and giving tht wealth to those that refuse to do anything. The development of a “ruling class”, {politicians}, that have everything, while those that are not psart of said “ruling class”, have nothing. Theree is no streach in comparing liberalism with communism.

          • Wolfesgang says:

“Redistribution of wealth”, historically, is a cause espoused by social democrats and, even more so, socialists and communists. They probably have one agenda in common: restricting the rights applicable to each individual in favor of what they believe is the “community” or “society”. “Liberals”, in most countries, are pro-business, pro-individualism, and pro-civil rights. Your account, I’m sorry to say it, is rather simplistic if not primitive.

          • idamag says:

Part of the reason for the great depression was money was not circulating. It was in banks. Now a great deal of money, that is not circulating is in offshore accounts. From its inception, money was developed as a means of trade. The economy is consumer driven. That means there is something obscene about 22 million dollar salaries and million dollar bonuses, while making that money by cheating those who made them rich. History has proven that wnen the masses have discretionary income, the richest get richer. However, people like the koch brothers want to destroy any mechanism the working people have so they can get richer.

          • Wolfesgang says:

Yes, this is why on the one hand, Western Europe has long turned away from ‘socialism”, let alone communism. On the other hand, most people there agree (hopefully, they do) that men and women need some basic security to be able to engange in the “pursuit of happiness”, i.e. to have the freedom to do so. Taxes are not considered to be an end within itself or a sort of penalty on the rich but rather as a means of providing such basic security for the public good, which is why in W. Europe, levying taxes is widely accepted unless blatantly unreasonable. American politicians, unfortunately, have often been successful and good at demonizing taxation as a ‘communist’ ploy — so sad!

          • idamag says:

There was a whacko who wanted to become the leader of a country that had a beautiful democracy. He built fears. His first yammering was about the communists. Build an enemy. People, like kep and itsfun and show me, will be the ones used to break the windows out of minority businesses. If they studied history, when the thugs were no longer needed, they were sent to the front lines.

      • Sand_Cat says:

        Got projection, idiot?

      • FireBaron says:

Proof? Oh, yeah. That’s right. You don’t need proof that can stand up under rules of evidence as long as Breitbart starts the diatribe and it gets picked up by Hannity, O’Reilly and company.

      • The lucky one says:

“The Emperor elevated lying and deceipt to that of a sought after virtue.” As good a short description of Trump’s style as I’ve seen yet, thanks.

    • dtgraham says:

Must be the racial discrimination lawsuits. I just heard that two African-American female staff members are suing Fox News for racial discrimination. That really surprised me. I wasn’t just surprised that Fox News had two Black employees, but I thought that Fox strictly specialized in the sex thing.

They probably hand out bonuses to hosts who haven’t had a sexual harassment suit filed against them that month. Or maybe they fire you if you’ve never had a sexual harassment suit against you. I’m not sure.

      • FireBaron says:

If they handed out bonuses to hosts who did not have sexual harassment suits in any given month, that checkbook would collect a lot of dust before it got opened.

        • dtgraham says:

You got that right. Did you see that about 30 advertisers have now abandoned the O’Reilly Factor, with more added each day? A bunch more have left the network period, and the list keeps growing.

Pretty soon all you’ll see advertised on Fox News are ads for OxySurge Male Enhancement, Axe Body Spray, Cialis, Carl’s Jr, Trojan, and Viagra.

          • itsfun says:

You’re talking civil suits, not criminal. President Trump never allowed top secret emails to be on a unsecured server. President Trump never spied on Americans. President Trump never went on news shows and lied about Benghazi.

    • itsfun says:

Typical response by a liberal. Just yell, scream, racism, sexism, bigotry, hate, to try to get away with committing crimes. If she is criminal she belongs in prison.

      • FireBaron says:

So, someone who admits to voyeurism of underaged girls, and admits to committing acts sexual assault should not be in prison?

      • Lynda Groom says:

How about a hint of what crime you believe was committed?

        • itsfun says:

She had the right to request the names for national security purposes, however she did not have the right to allow any name to be released. All names are to be blacked out. If she released any names not for national security – that is a crime. If she knowingly knew the request for names was not for national security – it is a crime. One day she said she knew nothing about the spying, now she says maybe I did that but for the right reasons. Even if she did anything illegal for the “right reason” its still a crime.

          • Lynda Groom says:

Do you have evidence that anything was released by Ms Rice? If, if if is not evidence or even a hint of a crime. Again what crime do you beleive was committed?

          • itsfun says:

I explained to you what crime she may have committed. If you look back I also said IF she if a criminal. The truth will come out when she is put under oath and takes the 5th. Next you will be telling me Hillary won and didn’t allow top secret documents on a unsecured server in her house.

          • Lynda Groom says:

Oh I noticed the ‘if’ all right. Your reply to my question of why so many are afraid of accomplished and intelligent men and women of color brought about yet another unrelated accusation that you now admit is just an ‘if.’ Thanks for playing.

          • itsfun says:

If you noticed that, why make something out of nothing. Is that all you got.

          • Lynda Groom says:

You are getting close to the words of Charles Karauthammer who said of folks pushing the Ms Rice nonsense. ‘Are talking out of their hats.’

“IF you noticed that, why make something out of nothing’ Which begs the question why did you provide such a sophomoric reply in the first place. If theres a next time try keeping within the ballpark of the question. Again thanks for playing.

This is probably not a race thing. It is trying to discredit Rice so they can get by with what they did.

  2. Dominick Vila says:

The first thing we must remember is that this story, like so many others, is a desperate attempt to divert our attention from Russia-gate to just about anything else, regardless of how ludicrous the claims may be. Another thing to remember is that “unmasking” for internal government security purposes, is not the same as leaking information. Ms. Rice, as National Security Adviser, has the authority and duty to request the name (s) of American citizens mentioned during conversations by foreign spies. The reason for that is to ascertain whether or not the said persons had the ability to carry out actions that could endanger our national security. For example, if an intercepted conversation between foreign spies said that an American named “X” was willing to sell them nuclear centrifuges in the black market, it is the duty of the National Security Adviser, regardless of who he/she is, to follow up and investigate to prevent something that could be harmful to our national security. Only the most naive, and those desperate to protect Trump and his associates, can turn the duty of a high government official into something sinister, and only ignorant morons can swallow that line of BS.

    • kep says:

You seem to like to forget all the illegal actions of the Obama regime. My hope is that all the unlawful, un-Constitutional action of Obama and his cronies will be overturned, and the truth be known. To see the Emperor, Hillary, and the rest of that illicit regime tried for treason against the American people, would be a wonderful thing.

      • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Yeah, Dominick! How can you forget all those “illegal actions” of Obama’s that these morons – these slack-jawed America-hating traitors – made up? It is almost like you don’t care about the delicate fee-fees of racist conspiracy theorist turncoats or something!

        • idamag says:

Those, whose goal is to destroy Democracy, are feeding into others who think the gov’mint is in their business too much. • Sand_Cat says:

You’re just another moron who laps up all the bullshit pumped out by others as deluded as yourself. I’ll say what Rice should have: why would any person with any brains be bothered to refute or deny the delusions, lies and stupidities of people like you?

      • FireBaron says:

Can you please provide evidence for any supposed crime you claim they committed? Teflon Donnie’s folks brag about their illegal actions.

      • The lucky one says:

If Bush/Cheney weren’t tried for treason for starting a war based on lies then it’s unlikely any president ever will be no matter how egregious their crimes.

    • itsfun says:

Rice had the right to request names for national security purposes only. Allowing those names to be released is a crime. Names released not for national security is a crime. Any request she made if she knew it was not for national security is a crime. If she spied on only American citizens without a warrant, that is a crime. She said she knew nothing about this, then 2 weeks later, she said maybe she did it, but she did it for the right reason. How can you believe her after she lied about any knowledge about it at all? She lied about Benghazi on 5 Sunday news programs. Yet you defend her as some kind of wonderful citizen doing what she could to save America. She is a proven liar and should be put under oath by the Congress. This is just the tip of the iceberg to discovering the corruption of the Obama Administration. Again there is not even a shred of evidence of President Trump or his campaign working with any Russian to affect the election. Your queen got her ass beat, because of her, not the Russians, Mexicans, Canadians or any other foreign nation.

      • FireBaron says:

So why did Teflon Donnie’s people release those names? It has been shown that the “leak” came from the White House. That means it was either Bannon or Priebus, because we know Spicer isn’t smart enough to figure out how to do that.

      • The lucky one says:

Don’t you find it odd that Clinton, the “establishment” candidate lost the EC “establishment” vote but won the popular vote while Trump the “peoples” candidate won the EC but lost the popular vote.

I agree with your statement about the sanity of believing a proven liar. That is exactly why the majority don’t believe anything at all that Trump says. He is the most unabashed prolific liar in American history and he has had some tough competition for that “honor”.

        • itsfun says:

Nope. California is the only reason Hillary won the popular vote. She won California by more votes than Trump won 29 states by. Who knows how many illegals voted in California. The most unabashed prolific liar in American history is a tie between Obama and Hillary.

          • The lucky one says:

So you’re suggesting that California voters don’t matter as much as for instance Texas voters? “Who knows how many illegals voted in California.” As far as anybody knows or has provided any evidence of, NONE. Who knows how many illegal votes were cast for Trump in the states he won? Or better yet, who knows how many legal voters were disenfranchised in the states that Trump won?

I won’t try to defend the honesty of Obama, Clinton or any other politician but you have to very deluded to not see the huge number of lies Trump has told and continues to spout on a daily basis. Most liars will retreat or obfuscate when confronted with evidence proving their lie but Trump just doubles down making claims such as “many people agree with me”. That much may be true, depending how you define “many”, but since when has truth been a pollsters question? Th examples are too numerous to list but just google Trump + lies if you have a lot of time to kill.

          • itsfun says:

Nope saying one state shouldn’t count more than 29 other states voters.
The things President Trump has said are being proven true. Look at how he was ridiculed when he talked about the problems in Sweden. Then when Sweden had the riots, we didn’t hear a word for those calling him a liar about that. Look at the “wiretapping” of his campaign. Now it has come out he was telling the truth. It may not be wiretapping as in the old days, but it was spying on him and his campaign.

          • The lucky one says:

No, what you are saying is that the EC is a fine system for electing a president. I say it’s a fine method to ensure that “we the people” do not get to choose our president. Okay, that is a difference of opinion.

However regarding Sweden Trump lied when he made his statement, just because there was some civil unrest there AFTER he had made his false statement doesn’t change the fact that he lied. He said something had occurred that in fact had not, whatever occurred afterwards doesn’t change that fact. Another blatant example is his lie that he saw thousands of Muslims celebrating in the streets of NJ after the WTC attack. Those are lies, plain and simple. We also have numerous examples of his claims that lack any evidence at all like his whining about the popular vote.

It is good to hear now that Nunes (chairperson at the House intel on Russia), has just stepped aside. He also mislead people.

      • idamag says:

There was a time, when the FCC had authority over the media, that they had to have proof of anything they said and they could get harsh penalties for false reporting. One of the first things the bush administration did was to deregulate the FCC. When the FCC did call fox news out for false reporting, their lawyers claimed they were not news but entertainment. This way they can say anything they want about anybody. If and when we ever get a decent president and congress, we should bring those laws back and not let them get by with saying it was entertainment.

Only in your limited brain do you think them fake.
Each time you try and delegitimize Trump Trump dismantles even more of the Obama legacy built on sand.
This is just the beginning of the discovery of all the sh*t happening under Obama.

        • Eleanore Whitaker says:

          • mike says:

A normal person would already know the facts. You being so uninformed or so wrapped up in what you think/wish the truth to be I am not surprised.

Some of these misdirections are eerily subtle and grandular. Then we have these obvious stacks of crap that Fox News laps up like mothers milk. Perhaps some media outlet will actually investigate this faux news and find out if there is malicious intent, lax practices or just plain stupidity at the bottom of it all.

  5. Sand_Cat says:

Of course, the “evidence” for this ridiculous charge “will be presented at an appropriate time,” Trumpish for “never.”
Instead of appearing on some news show to deny it, she should have refused the appearance while suggesting they quote her: “I see no reason why I or any other sane person should waste my time refuting the delusions, lies, and stupidities of a man like Donald Trump.”

      Keep your head buried.
We see Rice, a proven liar, on Benghazi, being based on a video, to Bergdahl, who served honorably, first denied knowing has now changed her story.
What she did might not be illegal but it doesn’t lessen political impact or make it non-scandal. If you don’t think this isn’t another attack on civil liberties then your head is really buried. There is a paper trail of her activities and all will come to light.
She should be subpoenaed as well as Farkas and have to testify under oath.
This isn’t going away as much as you might want to pretend.
All this bull sh*t from the left, Russian collusion, etc. doesn’t change the fact the daily dismantling of the Obama failed policies by Trump.

Remember each day you look for something/anything on Trump, which the left is batting zero, Trump is dismantling more of the Obama failed policies and overreach.

So Rice never said “Bergdahl served the United
States with ‘honor and distinction” on
CNN. Right? Bergdahl was a deserter.
Benghazi was not based on a video that was fabricated by Obama administration while the attacks were still going on.

          • Eleanore Whitaker says:

You’re acting bigly traitor to this country. Where is the proof? Still doing the Trump Hump backpeddaling and deflecting?

Not working is it Troll Boy.

Nitpick Rice all you like jerkoff. Until you prove she has done ANYTHING wrong, all you are doing is licking Trump’s ass. Do yourself a favor, moron.

Stop posting when you are too cowardly to show us court documents of your accusations. Like the ones that are being shown in the Senate Hearing by those testifying that Trump kissed Putin ass.

          • mike says:

I assume from your lack of documentation on Bergdahl and Benghazi you accept her history of lying on these subjects.
As to new allegations of lying we see she first denied and then had to change her story. She better get a very good lawyer. This time it is not going to be pretty.

      • Sand_Cat says:

BRAVO SIERRA, to put it mildly.
You have long ago proved yourself to be a complete IDIOT.
Don’t waste my time with your mad ranting about lies and delusions.

        • mike says:

To ignore the facts just reinforces how badly you have your head buried up your a$$. The only ranting and delusion is all yours.
What I see is your inability to prove me wrong. How typical. Rice lied about Benghazi, Bergdahl, and now this. The fun is just beginning.
You are either out of cat litter or lost your catnip. So Sad.
Each day more of the failed Obama policies disappearing.

          • Sand_Cat says:

To make up “facts” or to be a sucker for those some other flagrant liar and mentally-ill ass else made up is to push your head even further up you rectum than it is, if that’s even possible.
You obviously share the delusion of all right-wing idiots that sane people are somehow under some obligation to “prove” that your lies and stupidities are just that. You can shove it, and I’m not sad at all about that!

          • mike says:

“To make up facts” how stupid
and wrong. Name the made up facts douche bag. Do you mean “Bergdahl served honorably”? He deserted, dipsh*t! How about Benghazi was based on a video? We all know that while Americans were dying in Benghazi Obama, Hillary and their staffs were emailing back and forth to say the attack was to be blamed on a video.
Being an idiot is all yours.
My sincere response to your “shove it” can simply be put, Foxtrot Yankee!

          • Sand_Cat says:

Once again, I have no inclination to bother even reading most of your idiotic posts (changed the subject here a bit?), and unlike you, I’m not going to lie about what I have and haven’t read.
Your infantile attempts at insults are ineffective, and – I know it’s hard for you to read and understand posts with multi-syllable words – but here you are again apparently thinking I or any other sane person has some kind of obligation to you to provide anything other than what your irratiojal and dishonest ranting warrants.I answer so long as it amuses me to do so, but refuting your lies and delusions is not worth my time. All of what you imagine as your cleverness doesn’t change any facts except perhaps the invented ones you’ve swallowed whole.

          • mike says:

Once again if you could disprove the facts of her lying you would make a point just to prove me wrong. But alas, you can’t without proving me right. Methinks you are between a rock and a hard place with your dishonesty.
Keep that ugly intellectual dishonesty going it only makes you more laughable.

          • Sand_Cat says:

Methinks you’re an idiot and a liar, and I need not “disprove” your “facts.” You’re the one making the claims; the burden is on you, not me. But go ahead and keep lying to yourself. An idiot Trump supporter is in no position to criticize anyone. “intellectual dishonesty”? Dishonesty is certainly something of which you’ve proven an expert peddler and swallower.

          • mike says:

IF YOU COULD YOU WOULD! You know I am right and have again shown how intellectually dishonesty you are. Telling me to prove the facts is your way of denying the inconvenient truth she lied.
How ridiculous you continue to act.
One more time. Bergdahl served with honor and distinction, Yes? He didn’t desert his post, Right? His court-martial in May is not about desertion. Right?
Benghazi was based on a video! Yes? Obama, Hillary and their staff weren’t concocting their excuse while Americans were dying. Right?
82nd day of the Trump administration and all you can do is watch and whine as the progressive programs of the left slowly disappear.
So once again your inability to be even try and answer the questions shows how devoid of honesty you are.
IF YOU COULD YOU WOULD PROVE ME WRONG.

          • Sand_Cat says:

This is rich: a pathologically-obsessed Obama-Clinton Hater and Trump supporter whining about “intellectual honesty.” If I could I would what? Be free of lying weasels like you?

          • mike says:

The only intellectually dishonest weasel is you.
IF YOU COULD YOU WOULD PROVE ME WRONG BUT YOU CAN’T. So I will help you and show what an a$$ you are.
            Here you go little weasel.
            https://youtu.be/70ZXrZLdRdA
How ridiculous you are. Bergdahl deserted his post and is being Court Martialed.

          • Sand_Cat says:

Are you really that desperately insecure that you require validation from me? I still have to laugh at a desperate supporter of that bag of conflicts of interest, stupidity, vulgarity, and mental disease (Trump) whining about “intellectual dishonesty.” I guess in addition to being so super-insecure that you have to “win” (have you swallowed the 3 million – or was it 6 – “illegal voters that prevented Trump from winning the popular vote, too?) no matter what, you’re too dense to see the irony.
As I said, unlike you, I don’t lie and claim to have read a piece when I didn’t. Most of your posts get – at most – a skimming, and I have no need to “prove” you wrong: your obvious insanity is largely self-refuting. Whatever Susan Rice says in this post (I can see where you get your misinformation and the required reinforcement for your insecurity by the Fox – News for Dumb FUX – logo), I’m sure it comes nowhere close to “proving” much of anything concerning our “conversation.” What has Bergdahl – unconvicted so far – to do with Ms Rice’s being a “criminal” or lying?

          • mike says:

I proved you to be dishonest again. How funny.
I don’t need or want your validation but I do expect you to admit when Rice is proven to be lying.
To win means squat. But I won’t tolerate lying SOB’s like you.
IF YOU COULD YOU WOULD TRY AND PROVE ME WRONG! YOU CAN’T!
84 days into the Trump administration and there is not a thing you can do. How delightful.
The popular vote has nothing to do with the Presidential election. Hillary knew it was the EC that counted and she blew it. She never went to Wisconsin and was overconfident that the blue states would stay on her side even after she watched the loses the democrats took over the last 6 years.
Headed to the golf course so bye bye dishonest one.

          • Sand_Cat says:

But, you know, continue desperately trying to pretend the stench of treason doesn’t exist, traitor.

          • mike says:

Page a Russian spy! Really? My God your nuts. You’re showing your stupidity again.
Don’t you mean ex-campaign chairman. He was gone almost 3 months before election.
There is no stench of treason but what you do smell is the sh*t from your anus that has engulfed your head having been stuck there these many years.

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Weird, I didn’t name the aide. How did you know? Oh right, it’s the latest treasonable actions you’re desperately trying to cover up.

          • mike says:

You didn’t know his name that’s why you didn’t use it.
What is even funnier there is no proof just accusations.
What we know is Rice left a paper trail and her name is all over the “unmasking.” She lied saying she knew nothing and yet a few days later she admitted she did.

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Haha wow. I “didn’t know his name” but somehow you were able to work out that I meant the guy in all the headlines.

That makes perfect sense also let me tell you about WTC 7

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Also Manafort was fired in late August, not “almost 3 months” before the election. It’s good that you’re admitting that there was a definite issue with the Trump campaign being Russian puppets, though! Baby steps, one day maybe you’ll care about the USA.

          • mike says:

Almost” 3 months is approximation you idiot. He resigned on 8-19 which is just short of 3 months, to be exact 2 months 21 days you nincompoop. Which is “almost 3 months.”
I didn’t say there wasn’t an issue but your Russian Puppet crap is just that “pure crap.” No question you have sh*t for brains.
Rice lied on Bergdahi, Benghazi, and unmasked a fellow Americans which is an “illegal” act. Who leaked the “illegal” act will be determined when she is under oath.

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

            Sorry you can’t add.

  6. Phil Christensen says:

This is binary. She either did or she didn’t. If she did, it was either legal or illegal. At present the preponderance of what is known seems to point to her doing so, but at the same time it appears that such actions were within the bounds of the law, given the narrow circumstances. Unethical perhaps, but not a crime.

    • RichFromShowMe says:

I agree with your reasoning, but, the awful truth is she had no authority to unmask anyone in her role of National Security Adviser. If she had concerns about data exchanges she should have turned it over to the FBI, CIA or others of the alphabet agencies, with her concerns.

Bring on the investigation into her actions, how many names were unmasked, who leaked the names to the media and how they got that information.

Wrong. As usual, your Trump spin is BS. What is her title? Oh right. The same one your boy Stevie Bannon whom Trump just spanked the Bannon ass had until yesterday when he removed him from the NSC.

Rice’s title? National Security Adviser. Yours? POS who can’t get it up if Melaniaskank posed nude in your face.

President Obama is something you never can be due to your lack of intelligence: A Constitutional law professor. What would make an imbecile like you think President Obama wouldn’t know what is legal and what isn’t?

        • RichFromShowMe says:

Eleanore . . . you are wrong as usual.

Bannon was not “National Security Adviser” like Rice, he was a (guest) member of the National Security Council.

Rice has absolute zero right to unmask and question the process as her job is not investigation, it’s the FBI, CIA and all the other alphabet agencies job and should have been referred to them immediately, if she thought there was wrong-doing.

As this sordid affair unfolds you will be eating your foul words and I will be laughing at your remonstrances 🙂

Hmmmm yes I can see that I was wrong. It’s not that you don’t understand – or rather, it’s not JUST that – it’s that you’re so stupid and broken that you think you can convince other people differently.

Listen, guy – everyone knows you’re a racist dummy. Nobody – not even your other neo-Confederate loser friends – will ever be convinced that you know anything about any topic.

          • RichFromShowMe says:

I do like your humorous, though quite vindictive, responses but feel sorry for you when the ACTUAL FACTS ARE OUTED and political operatives go to jail, proving most everything I have stated and referenced.

You, kind sir, if you are, or kind madam will be like humpty-dumpty and take a great fall, but, of course, will never admit it as you never back up any of your wild assertions with anything, other than foul language and your undocumented and ridiculous claims.

Have a nice life, until the fall from the wall 🙂

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Yes yes you REALLY WANT TO BELIEVE a dumb right-wing conspiracy theory that proves (PROVES!) you weren’t a moron for believing the previous hundred.

I have some bad news, though.

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

UPDATE: Weird, it turns out I was right and you were wrong. Rice innocent, Trump continues to be senile and paranoid.

            Who would have thought?

          • Independent1 says:

And the lies just roll off you nonhuman blowfish tongue!!

        • idamag says:

I suppose that low informed person might be from Missouri. Missouri is way down on the bottom of the quality of education scale. That explains a lot. It is also a good chance that show me is a virulent racist and working hard to get 50 little countries with their own laws and no way are they going to have to adhere to national laws that protect people from lynching, beatings, starvation, cross burnings, jim crow laws, so those home grown terrorists can act at will. What show me does not know is if the Federal Government pulls all their facilities and money out of that mooching state, they will know poverty like no other. And, I for one, will not buy anything made in that state. I already avoid my money going into KKK states.

      • Independent1 says:

And another nonhuman blowfish posts a nonsensical piece garage. When in all the world are you going to grow up??????

        • RichFromShowMe says:

You may call this nonsensical . . . but the Right will have the last laugh.

Everything they did was documented 🙂

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Right on! I expect as many people will go to jail over this as Benghazi, or pretend email scandal, or Whitewater, or all the other stupid, stupid things you’ve been told are real.

          • Independent1 says:

Documented in what – sandscript to make it clear you’re nothing but a nonhuman blowfish just like mike??? Like I told Mike, when are you going to learn that virtually every sane poster on the NM views your posts as so juvenile there’s no chance whatsoever your childish posts will sway anyone’s opinion about anything

In other words, you and your ilk are totally wasting your time on the NM – the only thing you’re accomplishing is to increase the total dislike for you and your fascist ilk’s failed ideology!!!

          • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

UPDATE: Everything they did was documented, and they did nothing wrong.

Another win for Republicans, as long as you pretend failure is winning.

        • idamag says:

I heard that Putin has a huge department of hackers, some of who go into these sites to sway opinion. Whatever they say is so crude and primitive it doesn’t do any good with the people on this site. Block them.ignore them.

      • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Why do traitors like yourself think you’re in any position to demand anything?

    • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Hmmm yes climate change denier guy, thanks for sharing your dumb opinion on this fake story.

  7. Carl Sdano says:

If there’s any thread of truth to the unmasking of anything, it was perfectly legal & done according to CIA riles. The CIA reports to both Congress & the executive branch (through the NRC) according to rules & laws long established. Both Congress & the executive branch have the right to request unmasking. If some US citizens are caught up in foreign intelligence & the intelligence is significant, so be it.

      BUT NOT FOR POLITICIAL PURPOSES.

      • Eleanore Whitaker says:

For National Security purposes. What was ANY Trump campaign aide doing the kissy kissy nicey nicey with the Russians for if not to make sure Trump’s campaign appeared to win no matter how much skank the Trump aides had to beg and borrow from Putin.

      • ♚ King Leo ♚ says:

Good news! Since there’s no evidence it even happened, there’s no additional evidence this fact-free conspiracy theory, which reminder is just the latest attempt to spin a FLAT-OUT CRAZY CLAIM THAT PRESIDENT NO-PUPPET SAID and cannot back down from (toddlers can’t do that) occurred for any political purpose beyond attempting to protect the nation from Republican treason.

        I hope that helps, Adolf!

  8. Eleanore Whitaker says:

The level of stupidity in some white males in this country may be a side effect of their overdosing on Viagra. It is more than typical of the Dumbass in Chief to lob blame on a woman. He does it any chance he can get and then the minute he is found to be propagandizing from his Putin Bible, he backtracks, doesn’t have the balls to even apologize for libel and slander and then struts like a peacock in heat.

If men in this country cannot stop their lying, they are going to find out what female blowback is really like.

Trump does the very thing all slime ball males do when their asses are too close to their flames of their own guilt: take the spotlight off themselves and look around for a woman to smear.

Keep that up and see if women in this country don’t retaliate as only women do best.

    • idamag says:

I have wondered if ingesting chemicals in food and water has lowered the I.Q. levels of those who fall into line for their soylent green.

      • Eleanore Whitaker says:

Ida, writers of fame always provide a view of reality even when they write fiction. This is true of Orwell, Virginia Woolff, J.D. Salinger and today’s Stephen King. What they write in fiction often is like a poke in the eye to society.

I believe when the right wing managed to empower themselves, they surrounded themselves with people who are all too naive emotionally and politically. This is not a flaw in right wing ideology to be magnets of the least intelligent. It is actually a necessity in order to control human minds. The Chinese and Russians know this better than anyone else.

When they use the word “unmasking” and try to criminalize it, it the same use of the word “wire tapping” Trump claims can be done in many ways, Conway’s microwave version nothwithstanding of course. rofl.

It isn’t surprising the right wing supports charter schools. How else can they carry out the final plan to dumb down children’s minds without parental consent?

Men in society today have this peculiar need to control women like their great grandfathers’ did. The problem is women are highly educated.

I truly believe that when a southern politician openly states on the Floor of the House that women should “keep their legs closed” and they “won’t get raped,” either Viagra and those 5 hour erections have destroyed their brains or they received an education in a Bible Thumping tent.

  9. idamag says:

First create fears with propaganda. After you have turned a large segment of the population paranoid, step in and take over. Then if someone recognizes what you are doing, start the propaganda campaign against that person. Keep it up until the unlearned and unwashed are associating negative words with that person. It has worked in the past, but with a terrible outcome for the unwashed and unlearned. Seig Heil.

  10. ps0rjl says:

As National Security Advisor to the President she was within her rights to know who had contacts with Russian operatives. She at no time divulged these names to outsiders, only the President. Had she went public with these names then she would have done something illegal, but within the bounds of her job she had every right to know these names and advise the President of them. At no time was any law broken.

  11. yabbed says:

Two things about Trump never fail to raise their ugly head: his racism and his lying.
